My husband and I enjoyed our experience at Gaia. Everyone was so friendly and made it a point to remember your name. The food was delicious. Also, highly recommend Gamma for a tour of Manuel Antonio National Park-the hotel set ours up for us, make sure you ask for him.

We went there for the restaurant and the service was amazing. Everything we ate was great even thought my wife, being vegetarian, had a bite of chicken in her plate. The waiter rapidly corrected the situation. Cheers

Beautiful spot for a getaway near Manuel Antonio. They were very kind and professional. The only major thing that could use improvement is their restaurant. It s a hit or miss. Perhaps a simplified menu would make their food consistently memorable.

This place is incredible. There are so many things to say that I can't fit it all in this review.. just go experience it yourself! From the second my wife and I got here we were treated like royalty. The amazing staff met us at the gate, helped park our car, loaded our luggage, and drove us to the reception area. Once there, we were welcomed with fresh made juice and checked into the hotel. We then got a brief tour and our luggage was brought to the room.

The room was beautiful. We had a view out over the forest reserve and the ocean in the distance. The room itself was very nice and welcoming. It was quiet and felt very private. The hotel had 2 terrace pools overlooking the jungle with a small outdoor bar and seating areas. The bartender routinely brought us fresh fruit every day we were there. The drinks we ordered were excellent as well.

The hotel restaurant was very nice and overlooked the jungle and ocean. Every morning we watched Macaws fly by in front of the hotel. Side note but this hotel has a reintroduction project to help these excellent birds recover as a species (take the reserve tour). We loved eating here and did so three evenings for dinner and every breakfast. The food was delicious and very fresh.

Truly the best part about this place was the service. It seemed after only a day many of the hotel staff all knew us by name and we're very helpful. Our concierge booked tours for us and provided a lot of info on the local area. He even brought us homemade Empanadas because we had trouble finding them at the local reataurants and wanted to try them. We felt as if we were famous people the whole time we stayed here. If you are on the edge about this place just book it and enjoy! It is fantastic.

It was a very nice spa. My friend and I visited at the end of a long vacation to relax. We paid for separate massages, etc, but for our steam room we we're placed in the same small room. Also, we we're not offered a ride back down the very long and steep driveway, but forced to make the trek on foot.

Beautiful hotel between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. Perfectly integrated into the environment, within its own natural reserve full of all kinds of flora and fauna. It has spectacular views from the restaurant and from the pool area. It is rather small and cozy, which is appreciated. It has a transport service that leaves you on the beach or at the entrance of the park. All the staff is friendly and attentive. It has been a pleasure to spend three days here.

We went to dinner at night. A bit complicated to get there because you park at the entrance and an electric car takes you to the restaurant. Do not forget to want to go down by pressing the button to order the car. The food is pretty good although the prices are a bit high. I ordered bluefin tuna and it was exquisite.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough!! We stayed at GAIA for our honeymoon and it was an unforgettable experience. Not only were the hotel grounds spectacular, the staff were some of the most accommodating people I have ever met! Upon arrival, Fernando had all of our check in information ready to go with cold towels and a local drink ready for us after our long trip. To make things easier we booked all excursions directly through the hotel, including punctual and reliable transportation. GAIA catered to our every need and made sure our stay was spectacular. Josue, our tour guide both at the national park and on the hotel grounds was stellar! He was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. If we would've stayed anywhere else, I don't think we would have had as much fun. Look no further and book your Costa Rican stay at this hotel!!

Amazing hotel located at just 9 minutes from Manuel Antonio national park, the property is inside a natural reserve so you can see many of the most beautiful Costa Rican birds. The spa is really nice, the restaurant it s also really good, super tasty food, the seafood is super fresh and tasteful. The owner of the hotel is a really nice person and loves to chat with visitors. All the staff was super nice. Definitely a place to come back.

This place is lovely. It's a small but not tiny gorgeous hotel nestled in the hills and overlooking the ocean. The food is immaculate and unique. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They make you feel unbelievably welcome at every turn. The town of Quepos and Manuel Antonio are delightful and there are endless things to do.

We enjoyed our honeymoon at Gaia so much! The staff were so nice and the added extras such as the welcome juice, free spa treatment, tapas and drink and golf cart transportation was amazing. We even got a free upgrade that was a room with a rooftop terrace :). Donald our Concierge was fun and always helpful and so were all of the other staff we came across. Abraham was great too. Also, the owner Boris went out of his way to introduce himself and congratulate us on our marriage. We highly recommend Gaia for all occasions year round! 100% value for the money. Lastly we can t forget the wonderful breakfast that is included every morning(we recommend the pancakes). Thanks GAIA!

Beautiful hotel with a reserve on their own land, with a big Scarlett macaw protect program. Beautiful macaws always flying around. Stuff are all very nice. Food is good. There is one thing they can improve is to make there service more professional. But I don t think it s a big problem. Here in a small town. They have done their best. You can ask any request, they are trying to help.

Enjoying your morning coffee with a view of scarlet macaws flying through the valley below is an idyllic experience; that's how every day started for us at the Gaia Hotel. Having a private reserve and free daily tours is an undersold benefit of this hotel. The tour guide is a local and has a wealth of knowledge on a range of topics. The entire staff is excellent and a great example of the Costa Rican friendliness and hospitality we'd heard about. The grounds are well-kept and the pool is an Instagrammer's dream. As advertised, it was an adults-only experience. The concierge staff were able to quickly arrange the logistics of our tours and communicated promptly via Whatsapp when we were away from the reception. Though there was working wi-fi throughout the property, one minor critique was it wasn't fast enough to run Netflix in the room without some buffering; I'm not sure if that's even within Gaia's control. I'd come back here in a heartbeat!

Perfect services. Stayed for two nights and had a very good time, much thanks to the super friendly staff - in particular Roy who always took the extra effort to make sure we were alright. We never had to ask for anything, he was always one step ahead. Thank you very much Roy! All the best for you in the future, you deserve it!

My family did not stay here while in quepos/Manuel...

My family did not stay here while in quepos/Manuel Antonio but it was recommended to us by a former employee for their free afternoon tour of the macaws.
We got there too early (tour is around 3 or 4) and, after explaining we weren't guests, were given a ride in a golf cart to the bar/restaurant area. The ride was unexpected and fun going up the steep hill and the view was fantastic at the bar. Our frozen daiquiris while we waited were perfect for the high afternoon heat and the decor and style of the place was very chic and pristine. The employees spoke very good English and happily tolerated our muddled Spanish. Price for the drinks was a little cheaper than you'd pay for the drinks in the USA.
We then went with our guide and a small group of other guests at the hotel on the tour of their rehabilitation area for macaws and learned about the interaction of animals in the area and the projects goals. Portions of all the hotels profits go towards the rehab center.
We took a short walk down some paths and were shown other animals. There is also a longer trail with a view you can elect to go on with the group. After getting back, we were given drinks at the bar by the guide! Not bad for a free tour. We made sure, and urge anyone going on this tour, to donate money towards the rehab so they can continue to offer such an great experience and help restore the damage to our ecosystems.

The Gaia Hotel is a magical place on the top of a hill in the middle of the rain forest.. You are in the tree tops with the birds and monkeys. The facilities are very nice but the true joy of the resort is the attentiveness of the staff. If you go say hello to Abraham, Candy, Oscar, Jimmy and Ricardo for me. Everything you want is facilitated as best as possible.

Went to The Gaia for a second time in May 2016 and it was even better than my first stay in 2011. Now, I can't wait to return for my 3rd visit. Personalized service, attention to every detail, and professional and friendly staff. The grounds are gorgeous and it is not uncommon to run into one of the owners at dinner or during the day to ensure your stay is perfection. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Manuel Antonio. Pura Vida!

5 star service in the heart of paradise. Macaws, toucans, monkeys and sloths all live right outside your hotel window - what can you ask for! You can watch breathtaking sunsets from the infinity pool while sipping on a sangria. Have delicious fresh fish dinners at the fancy La Luna restaurant. Kick back and watch some Netflix in the large, air-conditioned rooms during the hot times of the days - or explore Gaia's own Macaw rehabilitation to learn about their efforts and maybe see an elusive Kinkajou! The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and will go out of their way to assist; even when there are some planning mishaps (some tour companies in Costa Rica are a bit mismanaged).

Lovely hotel and restaurant. Large rooms, powerful shower and excellent food. The entrance to the hotel is a little chaotic with not enough space for taxis, buses etc, frequently causing a mini traffic jam. Golf buggies up to the main hotel are unreliable, with often more guests than they can cope with. Other than this, we had a lovely stay.

Absolutely fantastic hotel, I'm so glad we stayed here. The staff went out of their way to be extra nice, even going so far as packing a little bag from the restaurant with some goodies for the road after we were already checked out. Great location and very nice (if a little unconventional) room.

The best thing about this place was leaving...oh, and Netflix since I got to catch up on Orange is the New Black. Ironic that I was watching a show based on life in prison while I felt like I was staying in one. There is nothing to do on the property and they provide no means to get you anywhere in the area. Plus you have to take their ridiculous golf carts to get down to the main gate where you can get a cab. I will NEVER go to Gaia again.

Gaia owners have a magical touch on there ability to hire amazing people!

The staff around us during our stay were the most friendly and gentle hosts I have ever experienced!

I ve traveled to hotels all over the world and my stay at Gaia made me realise that good service is not the quick delivery of food or room service. For me, it is the staffs personalities, they are the hosts and I am the guest and I really felt welcomed and taken cared of. They asked about our day, remembered our names and were not pushy or Annoyed if we had odd requests.

I like to tell you that we got our consierge WhatsApp to use during our stay, which was so nice.

after our stay we left to Corcovado to stay at the tranquilo lodge, a room, poor of anything except a good view, toilet in the same room we where sleeping in. Our host there, gave us here WhatsApp and guess what - I texted her and sent a different text to johannes (the consierge of Gaia) and he replied faster then our host at a place who charge 3 times the price at Gaia! How is that possible?

Ooh remember to meet Jose (if I remember correctly) the amazing funny and skilled guide doing the tour in the Gaia park..

Scarlet Marcaws, squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, dragons , Tucans was almost everyday picture at Gaia.

And the park and beach makes it worth a stay!

Tapas, drinks, food is very good and they make perfect eeg for breakfast compliments to the kitchen

One thing to improve if you ask me! The coffee in the room is amazing, but the coffee in the restaurant is very poor and should not be served in Costa Rica, if I where to decide

We had one of the most incredible experiences at the Gaia. The staff were all very friendly and trustworthy. They were attentive and it was a true 5 star experience. The resort was beautiful, our room was amazing and the food was solid. We dined at the restaurant every night and everything we ordered was great! I hope to come back one day and bring friends or family!

Excellent service starting from Roy at the front and everyone else. Free shuttle to and from Manuel Antonio National Park. Good food at the restaurant. Golf carts readily available to take you around the resort. Saw a sloth in the resort, and they offer a free nature walk with a great guide named Gamma to see macaws. Highly recommended.

We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at Gaia and it was fantastic! The small size mean the staff really does know you by name. The views from the restaurant and pool were just incredible. Definitely order the migas for breakfast - different than the migas you'll get in the States (but also delicious).

We did a quick lookup on trip advisor for restaura...

We did a quick lookup on trip advisor for restaurants in Manuel Antonio. We saw that La Luna was rated #1 out of 49 rated restaurants in the area, so we thought, let's give it a try!

Upon arrival, there was a golf cart ready to drive us up a steep hill to the main building on the resort. Located high atop the hill, the restaurant had a amazing view out over the ocean.

As we sat down down to eat, we knew right away that the service was second to none as the waiters were properly trained in the restaurant service industry.

The wine list featured wines from throughout the region and the world, everything from the $30.00 price range up to classic wines from the Bordeaux regions of France to Brunellos from Italy.

We also decided to try an appetizer prior to our main course. Upon our first bite, we were utterly in shock in the amazing flavors of the dishes.

After polishing off our initial course, we patiently waited for our entree's to arrive. Upon our first bites, we knew that the executive chef had to have been trained at either Cordon Bleu in France, or The Culinary Institute of America. Each bite of our dishes were prepared with the perfect balance of flavor and deliciousness!

After our main course, the owner of the resort (Boris) came over and greeted us and welcomed us to the restaurant and property. We asked where he found his executive chef and if we could meet him and thank him personally. Within two minutes, the executive chef came to our table and introduced himself (we believe it was Michael). Immediately we were shocked, as Michael was only 21 years old! Like how in the heck did this young man become such an amazing chef. We asked him where he was from and were he was trained? To our major surprise, he was born and raised in Quepos, Costa Rica (local town of 4,000 people), and was trained on the resort by Boris and other staff!

This one experience to Luna really opened our eyes to what quality food and service is all about! No egos, exorbitant prices, or pretentious staff members!

I would gladly put Luna and its staff up against any high end restaurant in New York or Los Angeles knowing that they would knock the socks off of the competition.

Think twice before booking.

Think twice before booking.

I booked my stay over the phone and the hotel s sales manager Sandy did not mention anything about the cancellation policy.

After booking I learned this hotel charges the entire amount of your stay and if you cancel they do not give refunds. I wasn t aware of this policy and couldn t get there because of severe weather conditions. The hotel owner refused to give me a refund (keeping almost $1400) citing the policy.

Our stay at Gaia was just a perfect close up of our round trip in Costa Rica. We loved the outstanding service, offerings for activities around Manuel Antonio, the easy way to the beach and the comfortable rooms.
Everybody who is working at Gaia is just very helpful, kind and will assist to meet your needs.
Also it is important to mention the huge impact the reserve has for the population of the macaws. The tour through the reserve was very informative.
If you look for a quiet & relaxing place in this touristy area of Manuel Antonio and still be in a good start position I definitely recommend this place.

Special thanks to Jonny and Alben at the restaurant/bar :)

I stayed here for two nights during my Manuel Antonio stay and I absolutely loved it. The resort is nestled in the lush rainforest. Not only is GAIA a beautiful hotel and resort but it's also a center for the conservation and rehabilitation of wildlife and endangered plants so you really get to enjoy the real Costa Rica. There's a restaurant that has the most gorgeous view, a spa where we got one of the best massages, a gym, a nature reserve, a shuttle into town, the pool was my absolute favorite. Make sure to catch a sunset during your stay, the hotel has the best view. The service was top notch from everywhere you go. It was just a great experience. No need to think twice, just book it.
