I have no complaints about the food, but we were seated at a table with a wonderful view of the kitchen. The wait staff were all dressed for an upscale place, but we were looking at cooks in tee shirts and ball caps. The wait staff was a little too friendly. We wanted a nice dinner together, but we're are constantly being asked how our dinner was.

A white tablecloth-type restaurant where my 20-something compatriots and I were maybe slightly out of place (or at least made to feel that way). We came for happy hour, which you must sit at the bar to receive (there wasn't much of a crowd besides us.) The small plates are $8 each, and ,while tasty, the food wasn't as hot and didn't seem as fresh as I would've liked. Other than the fried calamari, the plates are indeed SMALL - I can't imagine paying almost twice as much for them as appetizers. The bartenders were attentive and fast, and brought out bread, too, which was nice. My friend with a delicate palate asked for a sweet fruity drink and got something close to a vodka martini, however, which I don't think he enjoyed very much. The draft beer selection is VERY limited, although sizable glasses are $3 during happy hour; craft cocktails are $5, which does seem like a nice deal. This might be a better place to go for dinner, though (if you can afford to live in German Village)

Host/owner took us in on a Sat night w/o reservations. We sat at the bar and had an amazing feast. Sprouts and shrimp/grits were amazing. Mahi was absolutely outstanding. Trout was phenomenal. Can't say enough about food and the service. Bartenders we're extremely knowledgeable about gluten free options, which is not common. If I lived in the area, this would be a regular stop.

First time here and was very impressed. From the welcoming and professional staff in the front of the house to the well prepared dishes that came out of the kitchen. We had the veal osso buco and sauteed scallops with grits. Both were fantastic and cooked perfectly. Was a bit loud in the dining room for a romantic dinner but overall it was a good experience and we will be back.

The server we had was an ass, however, everything else was in a league of its own. This is with out a doubt on of the best restaurants in Columbus Ohio. Also, I have dined here multiple times before and the service has been amazing. We just got unlucky with this one guy. It happens.

The food is consistently great. I had lamb shanks this time and they were very good. The chocolate mousse for dessert, though, was amazing. We frequent the restaurant about 1-2 a year because it is on the pricer side for Columbus, but it is worth it. We usually take home some leftovers, but we also get appetizers, entrees, and desserts. The service is attentive and is always consistent. The atmosphere is the only drawback and that is because it is just alright. We will be back again.

We went there on a Sunday night and they had great ambiance. Ordered a bottle and they had a wonderful selection of reasonably priced wines (I would know I sell wine). The food was delicious and they had had some hard to find dishes

This is our favorite date night spot. We usually sit up at the bar and chat with our neighbors and the bar tenders. (They are all very friendly.) Our favorite item on the menu is the octopus. It is to die for! It is always tender and cooked perfectly. Octopus isn t always on the menu as the chef changes things up from time to time. But if it is available, order it! We also love the shrimp and grits. The Liberace is my favorite cocktail. Stop in. You won t be disappointed!

First time visit to this restaurant. Found it to be just okay. We were seated at a table looking directly into the kitchen, when others were available. Big distraction. Service was 'deliberate', taking longer than we are used to at similar establishments. Food was unremarkable. We will return to Lindeys, where we have never been disappointed.

Update: Jeff, from G. Michaels reached out, was very genuine. We will return. Class act.

While the food and service were excellent, I cannot give 5 stars due to the atmosphere. We were seated in the back room, and upon entering the room, I smelled what can only be described as raw sewage. Having lived in German Village for 6 years, I know sewer back up can be a problem in these older establishments. Had that been my only issue, I could have gotten over it because that is something outside of their control, however the room was also freezing. I dined with my coat on, which may have been a sign that the thermostat should have been turned up. When it wasn't I asked our server if it could be as I was very chilly. Sadly, it could not. Bummer! I will come back, but dine, only if there is room in the bar. Again, excellent food and service.

One of our favorite places in the neighborhood. Food is always amazing with a menu that changes seasonal so there is always something new to try. Also their happy hour IMO is one of the best in Columbus!

I m sure the experience of dining in makes an occasion more special and perhaps the food more enjoyable, or maybe it s the addition of a great dessert! Regardless, the food didn t impress me as much as I was hoping. I ordered to go the shrimp & grits and the seared scallops with pork belly. The grits were delicious, but overall the dish was soo salty, I couldn t bear to finish much of the meat without more and more water. The scallops were delicious as scallops are with a lemon dressing that was enjoyable; but the pork belly was an end slice that was overcooked and instead of a melt-in-your-mouth styled pork belly, it was a chew-through with the fat not soft but rubbery.. Other menu items might fare more flavorful for the price.

We enjoyed a wonderful Father's Day dinner here. The steak was great and the Shrimp and Grits creamy and delicious. I had the hen and loved it and our vegetarian really loved the Tofu. Service was great and we did not have a problem with parking. We will definitely come again!

DO NOT RECOMMEND!! I had such high expectations for this place as I drove by. However the staff was very strange and confusing and slightly odd. They kind of ruined my experience and to top it off the food was really disappointing :( My friend paid $30 for an entree that was totally dissatisfactory. Every thing about this restaurant was subpar which stinks because it's expensive!! Also gross sangria...sad!!

I've been wanting to visit G. Michael's for a while so I was pretty psyched when I went for my birthday. Seeing how they are one of Columbus' best fine dining establishments, I had some pretty high expectations... which unfortunately were shot down or should I say exploded? The biggest problem I had was how BLAND the food was. First we ordered a fork and knife crostini that tasted like nothing even though it was suppose to have harissa flavored chicken on it and mind you harissa is a CHILI PASTE! The bread wasn't toasted properly so it got really soggy in the middle.
I ordered the walleye and it was cooked very well but my plate looked like someone splat (trying to keep it G-rated) food on it. It came with what was suppose to a potato cake but it was like soggy hash browns lumped together. The lemon-caper sauce could've been anything. My mom had the scallops which were cooked perfectly but everything was so under seasoned. The only good dish was the banana bread pudding which was seriously delicious.
I just don't get how the food could've been that bland- I don't if it was a fluke or what but I won't be back to try the food again!

Absolutely amazing. My husband and I were visiting town and blown away by the service, food, and drinks. If I lived in Columbus I would frequent this place. My husband loves bourbon and they had a great selection of high end bourbon. My cocktail was delightful and complimented the food perfectly. I can t say enough good things about this place.

We love G. Michaels. Jeff always has a cheerful greeting and the atmosphere is comfortable without being too formal. Their seasonal menus are always great and the daily specials never fail to surprise. Service is friendly, prompt and attentive. We particularly enjoy dining in the "Atrium" but the bar and patio are equally inviting. The food is excellent with the best Shrimp and Grits in Columbus. Great for special occasions or just dinner out.
