Must visit museum if you are in Madrid.
Excellent arrangement of the rooms in chronological order. Good price, Monday afternoon is free.
There is the possibility of taking audio guides for the price of 5 , which I recommend.
I give 4 stars and not 5 because during my visit some of the rooms were closed for renovation.
Beautiful and lovely place. Excellent guide in all languages.
Extraordinary for lovers of painting. There are masterpieces of all times, but I think it may be the best in Spain in works of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It would be better if you had more affordable prices for both temporary and permanent exhibitions
Just visited the free Bauhaus exhibit and loved it ...
Magnificent collection of paintings. Very interesting guided tours.
It is always good to revisit the museum, the museums.
A place to get lost, the permanent collection of the Thyssen is very wide and varied with great impressionist works. On Mondays in the morning the visit is free from 12 noon. Throughout the year they have several non-permanent exhibitions highly recommended by Balenciaga
Unexpected 'find' not far from the Prado museum with a great variety of exhibits!
Best private collection ever seen, great variety and some contemporary artist hard to find in other museums such as Estes, Freud and Wyeth
I feel healthy envy for the collection. They choose the exhibitions very well.
Art from different eras in and artists in a historic, elegant, comfortable building with a rooftop restaurant that you will love on the nights of May or June, before the heat comes
It never ceases to amaze this museum ... every time I go I discover something new.
Although to give me a walk it is still one of my favorite places, it has no comparison with a national museum, logically. The bad of museums like the Prado, the National Gallery, the Tate, the British (although the latter is not an art museum to use) the Louvre, etc. is that they are so brutal that any private museum pales in comparison.
Balenciaga a virious exhibition. It deserves the visit
A great collection. The cool store has everything. And the super friendly and decisive staff. Great experience.
Well organised, oldest works start on top floor. Superb collection, really varied, where did the original owners put it all?!!
I particularly liked the exhibition of Madame where the light is the star!
This is the best museum in Madrid. Great collection of impressionists and often very good special exhibits with limited amount of visitors. The restaurant is nicely build with lots of fashionable art lovers. Service is Spanish style: very blunt and short of words, like not a greeting and polite asking what you would like but only a HOLA and than staring in your face. I experience that a lot in Madrid; not nice.
Absolutely magnificent. Great private collection of world class art. Buy tickets online and go early to avoid the queues. Nice little cafe/restaurant with good service and cheap food. Start on the second floor and work your way down. Must-see when in Madrid!
We went there on the free day. It is well organized, easy to move inside. It has something for every taste I think. I found three Van Gogh's and the Dali to be quite worthy. Overall good experience.
It is a very good museum. And it's huge! Unfortunately I could not finish cross it in its entirety so probably go back with more time. There are works of different artists and artistic trends. Definitely recommended if you enjoy art.
Beautiful space where you can enjoy the great Thyssen collection of great artistic and sentimental value, going through all styles, from centuries to the present, from around the world to Madrid ... Artists, pure art that you can like more or less but art before your eyes to enjoy and share with who you are. The building, environment and location, great. We take advantage of the open day of October 12. A place to repeat and see their temporary exhibitions. It has a very good souvenir shop.
whether you like art or not you will find pieces that you will love
A modern and well located museum .. The Balenciaga exhibition and Spanish painting seemed to me with pleasure and very well documented
I have always liked this museum. Whenever there is a temporary exhibition, I try not to lose the ... Especially if it is of impressionist masters. Do not forget to visit it. Worth to watch!
Very beautiful and interesting museum. Many works from all over the world. We start with the oldest collections up to modern works. The audioguide is interesting even if very verbose, it helps in understanding the various periods and works.
What to say about eate Museum ... It is mandatory to see it and its exhibits are very good and interesting, always. The store is beautiful and have a drink in your cafeteria, finish a full day
Great museum especially if you want to understand the history of art as it has evolved over the ages. Comprehensive collection.
Very beautiful and very large museum with works of great masters.
I love the museum. But the friendliness of the staff yesterday was not very adequate.
One of the museums that I loved, the truth that impressed me a lot
It is a collection that covers a large part of the history of painting. The selection is made with exquisite taste, and although you may not be dazzled by the impressive works of other famous museums, that does not detract from a visit in which you can enjoy great beauty. The placement of the works is a success. It is a must-see museum.
Except for some exception, it doesn't have much. I think it's overrated
This is a smaller alternative to the huge Prado Museum in Madrid. It has many beautiful paintings and art work. It was very easy to get around nlit also within 3 hours.
Normally you have to book tickets in advance rather than just show up and start the tour as they limit the number of entriants per hour.
However it was possible to book via your phone we did this which made things much easier.
The Thyssen offers an excellent permanent collection as well as interesting temporary exhibits. Besides housing great art, it is also a good place to check out if you are looking to get out of the heat, or on a rainy day. It is worth noting that the museum has free admission to the permanent collection on Monday afternoons.
Inestimable collection. Well presented. A discovery.
Mon FREE.
Following a stroll through the Botanical Gardens, take the opportunity to visit the Thyssen Museum with its complete journey through the history of European art (12th to 20th centuries).
Really enjoyed the Monet and Boudain exhibition. Didn't book in advance but Chec ked to see what times booked so we only had to wait 15 minutes to go in. It was very busy, but the audio guide well worth5 euros as really adds to experience. Also if you take it back they can re programme so you can use in rest of gallery. We had light lunch in cafe and then spent a lovely afternoon exploring galleries.
Nice museum with a friendly staff. They have a place to check your coat and bag if necessary. Their gallery hours are very strict. Once it closes they readily escort everyone out or to the later exhibitions.
Great museum. One of the largest private collections in the world.
I love it, I was looking at the temporary collection Monet, Boudin and in passing a visit to the permanent collection
Great museum, the gift shop itself was worth a visit. There permanent collection is good but I would suggest looking into the visiting exhibitions which are always very interesting and well currated.
We had a late breakfast/early lunch at the cafe, although it was a lovely setting, the food was not very good, and they got our order wrong twice after having written it down the second time, they still brough a different order... So I would suggest eating elsewhere
It is a museum that I visit at least 1 or 2 times a year, sometimes even more because with the mutual card you have free entry for you and a companion. It has an exhibition with a great variety of authors from classical, cubism, impressionism, realism, etc. and always with traveling exhibitions such as Rembrant at this time. The rooms are ideal for strolling and admiring his paintings.
It is a beautiful museum, large number of very interesting works. Great masterpieces are missing, but overall a really enjoyable and interesting visit! I advise!
A splendid museum, not only for the works that reside there but also for the well-managed management: easy ticket acquisition; good signage in different floors and rooms; Room staff attentive to any questions. Always with very interesting and interesting temporary exhibitions.
Beautiful collection. Great lighting, except on the top floor of the new building, where too much natural light mixes with the indoor ones. Friendly, polite staff, lax rules and a welcoming atmosphere. If you don't get there early enough, you might not get in, as they have a limited capacity in order to allow visitors enough space to breathe, think and feel.
Always spectacular. It is recommended to spend an entire day with breaks or visit it several times. It costs 12 euros although it is cheaper for large families or free for teachers. You can come and go throughout the day. They usually have different temporary exhibitions throughout the year.
Very easy to find
Easy access
The staff of the cafeteria is extraordinary, very professional, kind, attentive. The food very good. The director of the room very competent, resolved the lack of a table in a moment and the first cooks, even the simplest was delicious.
The permanent collection is amazing, and temporary exhibitions are not far behind. Essential visit in Madrid.
I went for work to make a delivery.
Instead of Paseo del Prado 8 I had to skirt the block and enter for that purpose by Marques de Cubas 21.
The children who suck from the fat tit where the lions and the traffic jam to access are embarrassing should be on vacation.
A pity the location of this museum piece with so much noise and so much pollution and volatile cancer in its main facade.
When you do the pedestrian center, it will really be nice, but until then, it's a dreadful subject.
It's laid out methodically and has a great collection. We spent 6 hours here and then left because we got tired. We could have easily spent another 4 hours here. They also have a cafe indoors
Wonderful collection of art. It is a must if you love art and are around Madrid. The museum shop is also really nice and the restaurant is ok too.
Well organized and an interesting selection of paintings, especially from Impressionism and Expressionism.
Arranged chronologically and from top to bottom of the building this is an outstanding collection
Very good I do not put the missing star because inside I think it lacks clearer indications of the direction to follow for those who are not experts
Outstanding collection of masterpieces laid out such that you are led through the development of painting styles and skills
A thoroughly enjoyable visit.
Wonderful a way to get to know the old modern classics and more much more
Tired to walk. Lay at least three hours for this museum, or even all 5. It's worth it
Most interesting and carefully organized art exhibitions here.
Lovely museum, it's free on Sundays from 4 to 8 pm. Check it's web site for exact times. I loved the Henri Matisse temporary exhibition.
Fundación Colección Thyssen-Bornemisza: A Museum of Art and Culture
The Fundación Colección Thyssen-Bornemisza is a museum located in Madrid, Spain. It is one of the most important art museums in the world, with a collection that spans from the 13th century to contemporary art. The museum was founded by Baron Hans Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza and his wife Carmen Cervera in 1988.
The museum's collection includes over 1,000 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts. The collection is divided into seven different sections: Early Italian Painting; German Renaissance and Baroque Painting; Dutch Painting; Flemish Painting; English Painting; French Painting; and American Art.
One of the highlights of the museum's collection is its impressive display of Impressionist paintings. The museum has an extensive collection of works by artists such as Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, and Vincent van Gogh.
In addition to its permanent collection, the Fundación Colección Thyssen-Bornemisza also hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year. These exhibitions showcase works from other museums around the world or focus on specific themes or artists.
The Fundación Colección Thyssen-Bornemisza is located on Paseo del Prado in Madrid. This area is known as "Paseo del Arte" because it houses three major museums: El Museo Nacional del Prado (the National Museum), El Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (the Reina Sofia Art Center), and El Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza (the National Museum).
Visitors can purchase tickets online or at the museum's ticket office. Guided tours are available for groups or individuals who want to learn more about specific aspects of the museum's collections.
Overall, if you're looking for an immersive experience into Spanish culture through art history then look no further than Fundación Colección Thyssen-Bornemisza!
