My gf and I purchased our 5th Wheel RV from Jacob ...
My gf and I purchased our 5th Wheel RV from Jacob LeJeaune & had the best buying experience we've ever had. We purchased on a Sunday, 1st of December, 2019. (Now December 23, 2019) We had driven out to FTRV from Dallas. We walked in and asked us to sign in. Immediately, Jacob welcomed us in and as new RV buyers, he really helped us narrow down what we would like to look at since the selection is so big.
Long story short, Jacob spent hours upon hours with us and not just that Sunday. Over the course of a couple days. (Had to figure out where to put the rig & go through the extremely detailed run-a-round/through I wanted/needed as a newbie.)
I think Jacob even came in on his off hours to make sure our purchase went smooth all the way through to driving off the lot with the rig. Turns out, Jacob continued to follow up with us not just to make sure we arrived home, but over the past few weeks checking in. Modern companies know post purchase follow ups on expensive items are absolutely critical to a successful buying experience. It's the new standard. This is vital to a really satisfying purchase experience in this review/customer first era.
How was the financing part of the rig? It was easy. At least if you have Justin. Jacob & Justin made the purchase fit in our budget. They did not try to push us into anything too expensive or make that Gap & Warranty talk awkward. It was quite the opposite. We had some good laughs and I think we both walked away feeling both parties got a fair deal. This is so important for our future purchases and loyalty. (We are just 29 and 32 years old.. don't think this is my last RV!)
Important to know: I did not have a 5th wheel in my 2011 F-250. However, do not stress about this if you might be in my position. Jacob works with you to make this a non-issue. I have a short-bed, so I had to have a sliding hitch, but with the modern RV design that has the cut-outs, I will likely never need to use the slide. I jackknifed on day 1 and had no issue. SIDE NOTE: Get a 5th wheel plug in the bed if you don't have one. (Jacob, recommend this if they are not handy around the house.) When I jackknifed, I tore out my bumper 7 pin. (Just had to clip back in, no damage.) $35 later + a hole saw blade, I've got a plug in my bed with a kit that is plug and play to keep the bumper plug working, purchased on Amazon.)
Lastly, 2 things.
1. The lady who did our walk through was so patient and spent hours with us. Literally. And never felt like we were rushed. She even helped us walk through the store and made sure we had essentials before we left. (i.e. water filter, sewer hoses, etc.) We spent over $750, but I bought everything I wanted including a tire pressure monitoring system. (We had a $400 store credit.) They have everything you need. It's a hair pricier than Amazon, but they've got it all right there making it for us, very easy and were able to ask questions in reference to our exact RV model. This was key.
2. The guy who I believe is the RV guru mechanic/service expert, was the bomb at teaching me the ropes on backing up into the 5th wheel for the first time and how to operate the new hitch they had just installed. It was late on a Sunday evening and he was not even in a rush. Really gave me a lot of tips and went over some tricks to help me down the road.
SERVICE: We have yet to have a service experience. Some reviews are harsh on the service. I can't speak to that just yet, but will be sure to update as soon as we do. Jacob did, however, not sugar-coat the service time that might be experienced. I guess we bought knowing it's probably not going to be next day service. I sure hope it's not 3-4 months like I read on some posts and more like 3-4 weeks, max. I do know, most people only review the negative experiences. I hope to update with our first service experience to see if they are accurate or not. so stay tuned!
Many thanks to all who made our buying experience absolutely perfect. Literally, best buying experience ever.
