Frist Art museum is always fun and interesting eve...
Frist Art museum is always fun and interesting every time I go. Last time they had an exhibit about two Latino artists (I've forgotten their names), the art was beautiful.

Beautiful museum with many intriguing exhibits. The recent car exhibit was great!
Lovely place to spend downtime in the city. Lots of great rotating exhibits. The also have kid's activities upstairs.
Excellent exhibition on Mexican artists. Free admission if you ve been to CMHOF.
This is easily the best museum in Nashville. Last Friday I attended the Frist Friday event, which is a concert series that the museum runs for part of the summer from 6-9pm every Friday. The music was phenomenal, they had drinks and food, and for $12 you were able to listen to the show and walk the museum. I ended up spending an hour listening, and another hour wandering their exhibits. Right now they have a superb contemporary American exhibit, that engages you with so many different mediums and messages. Easily one of the best $12 I've spent in a long long time.
Great museum, no permanent collection, excellent traveling exhibitions..
Amazing building and art work. It is reasonably priced for the size. It has a decent gift shop.
It looks great I love that activities and me and my family have fun
Nice little spot to getaway from the bustle on Broad. +1 for reduced entry prices on certain days. I just wish there was more to see... I wasn't ready to leave.
Really cool building. The exhibits were hit or miss, but it seems like they swap them out fairly frequently.
I was hesitant to come as only Eric Carle's exhibit was open, besides photo story of the Nashville flood 10 years ago. I'm glad to have joined a docent led tour to understand genius.
It's not the largest art museum I have been to, but it's certainly one of the prettiest inside. I was there for a samurai exhibit and Ragnar Kjarlsonn's (unsure of spelling) The Visitors. The venue was nice, the staff was pleasant, and I think I got my money's worth. My only wish is that it would be a bit larger.
I was almost convinced not to go to the Frist by a young people who misread the fee structure and were not impressed either by the many b&w historical photos displayed on the lower level of the corridors. I am glad I decided to check things out myself.
When I walked in, I was first hit by the silence, like I was entering a place of worship, one filled with reverence. Why? Then I saw the photos - all along both walls of the corridors heading towards the ticket counter.i started reading the first blown up photo of a newsprint from 1960s and I was lost in the history of the struggles and fight for acceptance by the African-Americans of the time. Rev Martin Luther King Jr s name and pictures came up over and over along the walls. His support and fight for freedom, for equality for his people, leading to his assassination in 1968 and further determination of the African-American people of America. I teared up when reading how they were locked out from entering a pool, how the Western white people protested desegregation at schools. Such repetitive acts of discrimination has occurred everywhere that was occupied by Europeans, especially the English, who invaded most continents.
But, let s stop there now. To return to the Frist, I was impressed with the beautiful interior and architecture of the place. High ceilings and soft lighting. Then, I went to the ticket counter and asked how much for the entry - her response $12 for all 3 exhibits . I asked if they had a regular exhibit, hopefully free for the public, and she said No. I decided $12 was fair, paid for it, was given a wrist band to wear. Off I went; and though I am not a fan of modern art, the Chaos & Awe exhibition was excellent. The selected art of contemporary artists resonated with the name. I am not an art buff but I have selected photos to portray what I am trying to convey.
I think every Art Museum needs local and international support to keep the Arts alive, so, if you are local or a tourist to Nashville, do go in and enjoy their exhibits. The staff at Frist are courteous and actually walked up to me to tell me that the place was closing in 15 minutes when I had walked to the top floor for the Photography exhibition. What? Where had the time gone? I had been there 3 hours!
Glad i had not dismissed the place on someone else s opinion.
Nick Cave has a artistic mind that works differently than anything else I've seen
Love this place. Always great pieces and can spend hours in here wondering at all the art and information!
Great exhibits here I wish they had more of a permanent collection butt it's almost always worth your time they also have a nice kids room upstairs
Just the best. Great for people visiting, kids, anyone.
Amazing Roman antiquities on loan from British Museums. Keep an eye out for surprise free events. Get the App, parking cheap and right behind biilding.
Great museum with interesting exhibits that change regularly. They usually have earphone guides, but the information on the exhibits tends to be first-rate without earphones too.
Beautiful art museum and gallery. Recently when we went it seemed half the place was closed but enjoyed everything.
The interactive exhibits on the second floor are amazing and fun!
PARIS. ONE OF THE BEST EXIBITS. WORTH SEEING MORE THAN ONCE.
A fun museum with regularly changing exhibits. Upstairs is home for a kids art room which can give kids time to paint, draw, and explore other art mediums.
really only 2 exhibits there. nor really worth the 15 dollars to see a bunch of paintings by Frida and 3 sculptures.
They had beautiful artwork, the Samauri exhibit was amazing to see. It's not everyday you get to see armor from 1700's Japan. Plus they have a lot of hands on activities for kids. And one of a kind items in the gift shop.
We went for a weekend trip to Nashville and decided to visit the Frist. The art was captivating and thought invoking. My kids loved the hands on area upstairs, making several types of art. I recommend visiting highly.
astounded by these exhibits 24/7. I'll never be bored at how beautiful art is.
Well worth the student discount price and many varied and fun exhibits. Tough to bring myself to pay full price for entry though.
Worth a visit, reasonably priced. The exhibition is a bit small but we had a good time.
Beautiful, family friendly, always something new to see
This is a first class museum. The building itself is worth the price of admission... Full of history. They acquire great art work to display. Great place to spend a leisurely day and create memories with your friends and family.
We had a great time here! We were able to view "The Animation Show" which had a number of great clips and provided relevant history. The center also offered 2 other exhibits at the time. It also has a cool activity center where you can complete various art projects (geared towards children).
We have been to the Frist Art Museum two times and it was wonderful each time. The art displays change and offer a unique variety of displays. I saw a Jackson Pollack on the last visit. I highly recommend this museum.
It's been a while sence we have visited and had such a good time we plan to visit again soon.
They change exhibits every couple of months and each time the artwork is beautiful
Very interactive for the kids, and lots of different things for them to do. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit today
Really small, with max three galleries. High price of entry, which isn t discounted when one of the galleries is closed. The building is beautiful, however.
This place is so extravagant and spectacular. Words cannot do justice for the love I have for the collections I saw during my visit. The Art Museum is just so beautiful, all the staff are very welcoming and professional and incredibly helpful. I was overwhelmed with the place and the recent collection just took my breathe away. You are allowed to take picture just no flash and you can get pretty close to the paintings too. It was just phenomenal. Great place to take families too there s a kids room upstairs for kids to watch and play with paint and learn about it. Put this on your bucket list and worth the trip.
Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism from the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection what more could you ask for!! Wonderful!!
A solid museum that had a blend of galleries but a lack of items to put forth. It was trying to use space that should be put to use for twice the volume. Maybe I'm spoiled on my hometown museums' free permanent collection, and the fact it's one of the best, but The Frist was less spectacular than its touring galleries and for the 10$ underwhelmed me with its permanent. We caught the last day of the Twins "Osgemeos" and that was the shining star, talk about a unique vision. The horror gallery was the other touring section and was incredibly interesting and added a nice dose of history to boot. If those galleries weren't there, not sure what my thoughts would be.
The Frist is a beautiful museum with a delicious cafe and many interesting community events. The Murals of North Nashville is a definite favorite.
A slice of refined culture right in the heart of Nashville! As a native, sometimes I forget about the lovely gems we have, with all the new construction. I visited the Frida Kahlo exhibit and it was wonderful. The frist is always clean, friendly, and accommodating. A perfect afternoon activity!
The mood and service was wonderful, very affordable price. Eighteen and under go in for free which is great being a parent. The exhibition itself was interesting, minus one star because of how many security guards there were watching you, you just felt uncomfortable and with their gazes all over you it felt like they were following you. Besides that it was a great time, they had an interactive craft station in the second floor which was very fun for the kids and even us as parents we got to enjoy it as well.
Current exhibition if French impressionist paintings, and English sporting paintings is very good. A must see exhibit.
Pretty small museum, but the exhibits are always great! Love going to the Frist every time!
Amazing museum! The building alone was worth the price of admission, and they had an exhibit of Paris at the end of the 19th century that was wonderful lots of gorgeous art nouveau pieces. love here. Apparently there is no permanent More
Incredible ..must be on everyone's itinerary visiting Nashville
It's enjoyable and accessible for someone like me who doesn't follow fine art as closely as others.
Loved the Frida exhibit wish I could have been more. Goodbye Frida
There is always something great at the Frist. The art is always changing.
Great place to visit. Always something interesting to see. Good place to take older kids to.visit and learn. Check on the Web site for workshop fun for all.ages.
Have been visiting the Frist since I was a kid. I learned the many forms of art as well as how to appreciate art for all that it is and comes from. I have started taking my oldest child to see exhibits and she thoroughly enjoyed it. She loves the hands on area also. Always a great day spent at the Frist alone or with kids.
Murals of North Nashville downstairs, the the surreal paintings upstairs, it doesn't get much better.
On the lower floor there was an excellent showing of American Art in the traditional museum venue. Upstairs was a gold mine for the kids who were totally engrossed with the hands on graphics art displays.
Wonderful staff, challenging and thoughtfully presented but accessible exhibits. Always an excellent way to spend a few hours.
We visited the Frist for the Van Gogh, Monet, Degas exhibit. It was free for college students on Friday. We definitely enjoyed being there. The museum is clean incl. the bathrooms, has parking space and coat check.
A great museum for Music City. The 2010 Nashville flood exhibit is a must see as we remember how devastating those early May days were 10 years ago.
Gorgeous atmosphere. Really enjoyed seeing the Frida Kahlo show. Friendly staff, easy access around building and just offers such a wonderful variety of events and shows. Grateful this is in my community.
Their kids art section upstairs is fantastic. Probably better for 5 and up but younger kids can enjoy too. Peaceful and calming space. If your child loves to create, this is were you should take them. Year membership is a great deal too.
Mesmerizing exibit of French Impressionist; Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir, Cezanne and others. The crowd was friendly and would share their thoughts and knowledge.
A true gem of the city, this place is exquisite. Packed with an abundance of art history, one visit isn't enough to take it all in. With several affordable options for memberships it's definitely a must have for local residence and travelers alike. Looking forward to bringing the whole family back, again and again.
The staff was courteous and friendly. The accommodations seemed just right for any group of visitors.
Always excellent. I tell all of my guests to Nashville that the building and decor alone are works of art. It never disappoints!
Love the Frist! If you ve got the time make sure to take the architecture tour to learn about the history of the old US post office that was turned into the museum it is today. A nice addition to Nashville.
