I LOVED going to the Frist Art Museum today! I brought my six year old brother so we were in the Martin ArtQuest Gallery the entire two hours we were there. The gallery is extremely interactive and he didn t express any boredom. My favorite part about the gallery was the station for exploring moving images. Another great thing about the Frist Art Museum is that they offer military ($7) and college student discounts ($9), every person 18 years of age and younger are FREE. Parking was not pricey either, $2 for the first hour and $1 for each additional hour.

Went for the Dorothea Lange exhibit - so nice to read about the photographer and learn more about the people and events she photographed. The short documentary film gave insight on her assignments vs. what SHE wanted to show in her photos.

The lighting was incredibly dim making the inside look unwelcoming or even closed. I think that even though it is important to have a space for children the space is so big that it takes away valuable space for other exhibits. The gift shop is more focused on little items rather than art books like other museums. The exhibit was more of a biography rather than an exhibit of the works of the artist. I could have seen all that info by opening a page of the artist online. I wanted to see the artworks. Another of the exhibits in the back seemed more of an afterthought since it was crammed in a small room in the back. The cafe is so dark as well, it could use fresh new and brighter colors. The information desk at one of the doors seems kind of useless since it simply directs you to the visitor center. Why not sell tickets there too? There were a total of four infor.ation desks within eye reach of each other.

The frist does an excellent job of attracting a variety of exhibits to maintain interest. They have recently had a WWI exhibit and are now showing a variety of Roman artifacts from the British museum of London. It's housed in the depression era post office complete with art-deco era architecture. They offer an ipod-based audio tour for a small additional fee and run the place like a well oiled machine. Parking in the back is cheap and if you spend 50 or more in the gift shop it's free. The frist is an important institution for Nashville.

Saw the Frist Art Museum from our hotel and decided to check it out. What a fine museum! They were exhibiting Mexican artists such as Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo and Diana Al-Hadid. Al-Hadid stole the show for me with her Sublimations installation. Up stairs was a collection of surrealist such as Dali, Pollock and Miro. What a great experience! If you're ever in Nashville this is worth the effort to find and go to.

Ended having some free time so we check out the Art Museum for Surrealism and Mexican Modernism exhibits.

The Surrealism exhibit was amazing and totally worth it.
The Frida Kahlo exhibit was interesting and since it more then just her art, like photos and outfits.

The Frist Art Museum definitely fulfills your expectations! It is an incredibly fun building to explore, inside and out. Walking around it shows you truly how massive it is and all the detail on the outside that they had to model. Going inside to the art gallery and to see the statues, you must go to the east side lower level.

The exhibits are amazingly beautiful. While the building seems intimidating to people not dressed to the nines the staff were more than polite and friendly while I was in work clothes. The programs for after school are also amazing.

Beautiful stone museum in the heart if Nashville with an art deco interior. We had attended a J.M.W. Turner water color exhibit at the Mystic Seaport Museum in CT on its last day in February, so we were excited to note the Frist Art Museum was showing one, too, called "A Quest For The Sublime" in their Ingram Gallery.

We made a point of going today to look at their collection of 75 pieces which consisted of Turner's oils, watercolors and sketches. It was wonderful to see up close so many of his large oils that dealt with both his biblical depictions and European scenery. There are quite a few oils and watercolors of his interpretations of the ocean, too, which he is often remembered for as an artist.

The lady taking our admission tickets, was thrilled we had been to the Turner exhibit in Mystic, and said their museum has been trying to get a collection of his work to show since 2001!

The exhibit runs through May 31, 2020. There are many other artists on display here currently that if you have the time you should see. There is a cafe and gift shop on the premises.

What a great art museum! Their admission isn't excessive, especially for residents with membership. The building is the old post office, and it's beautiful. They have many rotating exhibits. The second floor has a nice kids area and the staff are quite helpful in answering curious patrons.

My family & I visited on a Thursday at dinner time. It was great timing for us since my 2-year old was noisy & wanted to move around and there weren't many people at that time. Upstairs we spent the most time in the children's part where we drew pictures, painted watercolors, created an animated video, & made puppets. It was a great way for our family all to enjoy exploring the arts.

Excellent place for Children ages 2-5 maybe 6... I went during the Eric Carl exhibit which was geared towards kids to begin with. However that was not the best part. The activity center for kids was excellent. They had art activities, camera and motion stuff. My daughter had a blast and the staff was very friendly. We will be returning. I will admit we have not attended during an exhibit geared towards adults but I look forward to doing so.

Great museum for adults and kids. I have been to several exhibits and they did not dissapoint. The curators have done a wonderful job at luring exquisite art. Upstairs on the 3rd level is the kids gallery and hands on area. My young son can spend hours crreating his art. Nice gift shop and a cafe in the building. The Frist is located very near other Nashville landmarks.

I have loved this place for years. I've seen so many wonderful exhibits through the years. There is always something that sticks with me every time I go. This trip was special because a featured artist was someone we know and love from local public schools around the area. Once again I was in awe of what people with these kinds of talent are able to accomplish. Knowing many of their tender ages made it even more impressive. I'm very thankful for this bit of culture in our area and how hard it works to cultivate that love in the next generation. Don't miss the studios set up for the kids tti be creative.

This is a real nice place when thy have something I'm interested in seeing. The only omplaint are the people that watch over you like prison guards. Used to be a member when thy consistently have something I'm interested in, like once or twice a year. Since I'm not a child not interested in most of the second floor
