The place is well kept. Maintain in manner where the animals doesn't seem to be mis-treated. In a nice loaction next to a park with lake. You and the family can have a picnic and go to the zoo at the same time.

The zoo is our favorite place!
We utilize many of the zoo's educational services including the behind the scenes encounters, tot time on week day mornings, and zoo camp over the summer.
We love the Ice cream Zoofari, Zoo Lights, and the Zoobilation.
Fresno is seriously lucky to have such an amazing place right in our backyard.
Be sure to eat there. The food is delicious and reasonably priced.

Roeding Park Dog Park is divided into two sections, one for small dogs (less than thirty pounds) and one for larger dogs. There was water available for your dog and "poop bags". Apparently people used the bags because there was not an accumulation of dog feces, the grass area was kept clean. Only two other visitors while we were there. We spent approx. 2 hours. The small dog area had 1 picnic table in a shaded area for the people to sit and one cement bench in the sun. Big dog area had a picnic table in the sun, and no shade anywhere. Guess the weather would be the deciding factor, too hot to sit in the sun. Otherwise quiet, friendly and a nice experience.

It has really improved since a few years ago. Especially the elephant enclosure! However even though there are signs saying to wear a mask, most visitors didn't and none of the staff seemed to care. It was never enforced on any level.

The zoo is always a great place to spend the day with family, especially little ones who have never been. The only down side, however, is that there is never enough shade in some areas. The "food court" area near the entrance to the Safari zone is the worst. There are tons of open tables that nobody wants because they have been roasting in the Valley heat all day. Other than that, it is always fun and enjoyable.

All the animals were pretty much available to see. Wasn't a whole lots of people either so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. My family enjoyed it and that's all that matters to me

Other than the Lions not being there because of the cage or area being cleaned and maintained it was an amazing experience as always. And the water area for the kids was a nice surprise for the little ones at the end of our visit. Thank you.

Everybody loves a zoo but when we went a certain day we didn't create as much as we did when we last went you can't get a Zoo discount I believe from La as well that would be valid that's only if you're going to go a couple of times during the year and don't forget to support your Storyland

I have a large family so we decided to go with the annual pass which has saved us so much money already. It s a great buy I suggest anyone who plans on going to the zoo more than once a year should definitely purchase an annual pass. The food is not so pricey. They have been adding more things I personally love going to Stingray bay and they have sharks too. With the annual pass you get into stingray bay free just pay the $1 for feeding if option available. Great place for family outings.

We live in Bakersfield so we dont really live to close to any real big zoo's, so being able to go to Fresno and see the Chaffe Zoo was amazing. My little 14 month old loved seeing the seals from the underwater view room. She was a bit scared feeding the Giraffe but once mom and dad did it she was ok with it. It was such a beautiful day for our family. Thank you so much.

While the entrance is not fancy you quickly find out it drops you directly into the action. I beautiful walk through tropical bird environment that thrills children and adults alike. Moving on to the elephants you are sill thinking this is a standard zoo adventure until you come out on the Savanna. 40 acres of beautiful environment designed so well you don't notice the barriers between the hunters and the prey. Off in the distance a herd of elephants sways while different antelope types wander and occasionally bound through. A pride of lions sits to one side. Lounging on rocks and lording it over all, cubs playing and lionesses watching over them. A rhinoceros wanders through with her baby at her side. Amazing everyone. Next is on to the giant enclosed tropical rain forest complete with waterfall and fowl of all types. The zoo in Fresno is well worth the visit. If you in town at loose ends or looking for something on the weekend to do with yourself or the family. You can't lose with this one.

Such a local treasure! We love spending time here! The facilities are clean, there are always employees or volunteers offering information and help. I feel like I learn something new every time I go.

This zoo is large. To see it properly is an all day process. In winter, the zoo closes at 4. If you take time out to eat lunch, you'll be able to cover the entire zoo in just enough time. There is a variety of animals and plenty to see! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely a family friendly place to visit.

We had a lovely experience to see the zoolights during the Thanksgiving weekend. I did hear the zoo closed down due to covid. We loved our visit but was expecting to see more areas open like I've visited in the past and they use to hand out tickets at the entrance for free hot chocolate and cookies in the past. So there was less to see and no tickets for free hot chocolate and cookies. I did purchase from s'mores bar and purchased a hot chocolate. Delicious

I haven't been here since the sea lion cove was constructed and wow! I Love the updates that have been done! So many beautiful animals in the African safari and they are not yet! I'm definitely coming back. But also, I love that they hold special events here, really cool.

The African Adventure is AMAZING!! DEFINITELY A MUST SEE!!! It literally took THE WHOLE day to see a brief rundown of the zoo. I will definitely have to go back a few more times to enjoy it!!!

The staff have always been really friendly and knowledge every time I've been there. I really enjoy the new hours that have actually been in effect for at least a year or two now lol. It can usually get pretty crowded, but my tip is to go on Thanksgiving Day because it never gets too crowded then. They are only open until 2 pm on Thanksgiving, but it makes an awesome family tradition :) (my family's been doing this tradition for about 4 or 5 years now maybe?) Either way, if you love animals and/or smallish zoos you'll enjoy the Fresno Chaffee Zoo. I come from Cleveland OH and always thought that zoo was too big. IMO the Fresno Chaffee Zoo is the perfect size
