I see some reviews complaining about the prices and options for food at the zoo... I always pack a healthy lunch for my kids. Easy fix. You can bring food and drinks into the zoo, just no alcohol and no straws. The one time that I did buy food, I got a Caesar salad in the eatery in African Adventure. It was actually less expensive than I expected it to be, and it was quite large. Couldn't finish it myself. Very tasty.

I love the staff and the animals always seem happy. (Only exception being a tigress who was in heat and upset that the male wasn't interested. Poor gal.)

I love the meerkats and the reptile room!! The kids love the dino dig - can't do the zoo without the dino dig!

We've been going to this Zoo for the.past 13 years and have made it a grandkids, and their parents family tradition. My husband and I love it. The grandkids love it. Fresno chaffee zoo is so awesome. I wish to thank the staff and the care takers for giving us the memories, that we've had for all these years.

The zoo today is so special in it's magical way of bringing the wild animals of the world to life as kids see them alive and in a habitat designed to keep them comfortable with good vision of them . 60 years I've been going and it still has that special ability to renew imagination and appreciation of nature's best .

So proud to have this in Fresno. If you are visiting, go now...and take the kids. Price is so reasonable. The new exhibits are breathtaking. Feed the giraffes. Pet the sting rays. Go to the petting zoo. If you're local, send your kids to the summer camps. So glad to see my tax dollars put to great use.
Just go.

I loved taking my children here to Chaffee zoo and now I am enjoying and loving taking my grandchildren. Yes The souvenirs and food can be a bit pricey but that s just about every amusement / entertainment family fun thing you might want to do.

Ok zoo, has a variety of animals, reptiles, birds & different things to see. Has a couple areas to sit & eat at. Also has a gift shop most items are over priced & expensive. Overall was nice visiting the zoo.

Until today I hadn't been here for about 7 years or so . My wife and I took our 2 & 4 year olds today and I was expecting decent zoo and fairly quick trip. I was amazed at what they've done with the place and my wife and I both agreed that this may now be our favorite zoo in California (and we've done all the major cities). The new(ish) safari area sold it for us. All of the animals were out and visible. Can't be beat for the price imo. Note:. We didn't purchase any food so I can't speak to that. Otherwise, easy to get around, something around every corner, not too big, not too small.....very impressed.

I've never seen anyone else at this dog park, and it's probably because its location next to the freeway is not appealing to humans, nor does it provide any shade in the large dog park area. With all of the large trees and beautiful areas within Roeding Park, the city could have provided a nicer and much larger area for the many canines and their human companions who live in this area.

Our latest trip was when they just opened after the Covid-19 closure. You had to make reservations to go into the park. Adults were encouraged to wear masks. Kids 12 and under did not have to wear masks. The park has signs on the pathways for people to stand and walk. Overall we had a great time.

I haven't been here for maybe 20 years. I was afraid it was going to be the same crappy zoo it used to be. I was wrong. Clean. Well kept and clearly moving away from cages to more open animal friendly habitats. I like the direction they are going. It was worth the stop for a few hours of walking around with the family.

I love this park. This park holds many great memories to me; from swinging on the swings as a child to feeding the ducks and geese with my fiance.

My favorite section of the park is of course the geese and ducks. They are so cheerful and happy to see people all the time. They just want to be fed and full so they can sleep comfortable in there giant pond.

Being there is just relaxing overall. The green grass makes it peaceful, the trees make the place shady, and the overall setting is just great for families and close ones alike.

You can take meat over to the park and sit on the benches, barbequing all day. Take the family out for an escape away from home or just chill out on the grass with whoever you want. You're only limited to your imagination.

There's also bathrooms there, so it's an all day type of place, and there is also a zoo inside Roeding park.

The zoo holds many animals like lions, elephants, alligators, snakes, tortoise, and much more. It's just a place you have to go to enjoy and see it for yourself.

I think this zoo is so well designed, it is one of the best zoos I've been too, even if it's a little on the smaller side. The African Savannah section is sooo well done! You feel like you're on a safari! The restaurant in that section is also really reasonably priced, and I love the garlic fries. Other highlights for me are the kangaroo walk, the stingray petting and feeding, and the rainforest walkthrough. Oh, and the sea lions are great as well. This is a zoo that I want to keep coming back to.

We came here during the summer for a quick visit during our road trip to Sacramento. It was five dollars to park and then I believe $12 to get in. My kids really liked the open zero theme they were able to feed a giraffe as well as see many other animals even though it was very hot that day.

Very fun zoo. The food is great and there are such variety of animals. The place is clean and it's never really SUPER busy. There's plenty to do for a day trip. The safari is beautiful and is a must see.

I've been coming here since I was a kid and before the African Adventure was here. I love that I can take my son now any time of day and enjoy a new section of the Zoo every time we go. During any weather. The food is great. The staff is very knowledgeable and polite. I have yet to try all the events, but my family favorites so far are Halloween at the park and Christmas lights decor in season. I can go on and on about how great this place is.
