Frank's Smokehouse and Restuarant Reviews

This place is awesome and a true gem! My first time visiting Amsterdam and so I was looking for something that would boast a local feel and resident atmosphere. Well I found it at Frank s Smoke House.

Walking in the door you ll notice a small refrigerated displace case to your left where the locals can come in and purchase their meats without paying the markup to have them prepare it for you. Then just to the right is a bar you can pull up to and have a drink with your board of meat. Otherwise around the corner there is seating for about 50 people.

The menu starts with what they are known for, the smoked fish and meat boards. They also have a fantastic cheese board that in my opinion compliments the rest. The have a selection of appetizers and sandwiches as well if you d prefer. For today, I wanted to local.

First I had to get one of their house brewed beers, the Smoke House Eagle. It was a really good beer. You could really taste the smoke in it. Great job guys!

Ok so I started with the local favorite, Smoked Eel. OMG! I have never experienced eel before but this was absolutely amazing!! If you like smoked fish of any kind, you MUST try the eel! It was so buttery smooth and just melted in my mouth. Served with an accompanying toast that is super thin cut and toasted to perfection!

Then for the main course I ordered the salmon board and the cheese board. I can honestly say that I have never had smoked salmon that was this good! Wow it really blew me away! There were 3 or 4 different types and they were all really great. The cheese board was excellent as well. The cheese was freshly cut and served along side some blueberry compote and some thinly sliced green apple.

Seriously this place is a MUST DO for anyone local or just visiting! If I ever make it back to Amsterdam, I will visit again.

Amazing place. We walked by for two oysters to-go but we had such a nice talk to the owner that we decided to stay.
Everything is smoked at this place, from the salmon to the beers - there are also non-smoked beers and snacks if you're not into this

Frank's is a great place to live close to. Great food, personal attention, chill. Pop in for some deli stuff, or take away a whole meal. I look forward to the restaurant opening again!

An amazing spot in Amsterdam-Oost! You can find fishes, meats and cheeses smoked by them. Delicious dishes at affordable prices. Good service and good craft beer

Decent restaurant as the food was only ok. Ordered a smoked meats platter with side of pickled vegetables as a starter and it was all a bit underwhelming. The smoked Duck was excellent though and really stood out. The main course was a smoked brisket with hardly any smoke flavor and the meat was very dry. The service was very friendly and the restaurant looks good.

Always a delightful experience at Frank! The oysters, the best of smoked fish are my favourites. Genuine foods, great choice of wine at fair price.

If you re looking for smoked salmon - this is the place!! I grew up in NYC and wake up every Sunday thinking about Russ & Daughters, so I m always on the lookout for good lox. I found Frank s on a two months visit to Amsterdam and went back several times. I really only tried the lox from the to-go counter but many of their other items looked great too.

Freshest of seafood of all varieties. Walt staff friendly and helpful making good suggestions of foods that complement each other. Great atmosphere with pictures from Alaska of fishing boats, maps, and indigenous peoples and relaxing music.
