This was some of the best pizza that I have ever had. I ordered a pizza and the staff was friendly over the phone and even friendlier in the Frank Pepe Pizzeria! As soon as I walked into the Pizzeria, it had such a welcoming vibe and most the staff had a smile on their faces. Will definitely come back for more of this delicious pizza!

One of my resident associates call to price pizzas for a get together at the museum and was shun and hung up on we chose not to do business with them anymore the manager was however quite cordial
Pizza was really delicious. I ordered shrimp and chicken with some vegetables too. Omg both pizza was super cool. I can't wait to go there ones again even though it's so far away from my living place. If u go on weekends we will have to wait on line around 30-45 minutes.
Amazing pizza, truly work of art. Getting to watch them make the pizzas, from hand tossing the dough through operating the coal fired brick oven, to boxing cutting, and serving the pizza was a rare treat.
Ordered for pickup. Wait time was 45 minutes but that worked perfectly since I was driving down from Hartford, CT! The pizza was hot and delicious. I will be back!
Ordered today for Mother s Day and spent 90$ on pizza including a tip just to get to my moms house and was a little disappointed.. When we picked up the pizza the boxes were cold.. they didn t even have them near the heat or anything.. idk I used to love this place but probably won t go back anytime soon..
Went on a beautiful summer evening for dinner with my parents. Stood in line for 20 minutes but was totally worth it. We ordered 2 medium pizzas (hoping there would be leftovers) but we ended up finishing it all. The pies are a good size but it was so good we couldn t stop eating. Even though it was busy, the pizzas came out a lot faster than we though. Everything with drinks came out to be $50. Fairly priced. Everything was delicious! Can t wait to go back!
Had better frozen pizza. It's not burnt it's well done haha that's bunt buddy. Popular by people who don't know what real pizza is. I will never go back should be ashamed to call that place an Italian restaurant
The best the best the best . It is on top with the best of the best in the tri state area. Dosent get any better. Worth the wait if you have to wait. Well worth the hour and a half drive. Highly recommend.
My first opportunity to visit the original in Wooster Street did not disappoint. Just like at the more recently established locations, the pizza is wonderful and the atmosphere is classic. A New Haven institution.
Awesome original New Haven "Apizza". FYI, there are two adjacent buildings. When we went, there was a line at the building closer to the street, but we got seated right away at the Original building behind the parking lot.
This may have started as an Italian family business, but now it has nothing to do with ancient and respected Italian traditions of good quality food and hospitality.
The pizza is absurdly overrated. Also, beware of hygiene, or lack thereof. The inside of Pepe New Haven looks like a 1950s American diner, with little or no renovation. The toilets, with high tank and pull chain, are "original" from the 1950s...
Dishes were invented ages ago in other parts of the world, but there are NO DISHES there: the crust is served on a banged-up metal tray, and you must share it with other people at your table.
In sum, this place could never stay open in the elegant city center of Rome, Milan, Venice, Florence or Naples, for that matter. On the contrary, this is what you may find in a bad Autogrill, i.e. a franchise of pizza-places and casual eateries along the highways.
On top of everything else, the servers are rude and unprofessional. We had Nancy, an old lady who sits down with the customers, stretches her legs, puts her feet and dirty shoes on the opposite seat, and talks about her life and how tired she is! If you don't leave a tip, she'll pick a fight with the customers. But there are no tips in Italy when the service is lousy. And if a server behaves so disrespectfully toward the customers, he or she is dismissed in a minute. Her reply? "Then I'm glad I'm not in Italy!" What a stupid thing to say for someone who works in a would-be Italian pizzeria...
The Spot is a bit less comfy, but more homely, if that makes sense. You're going to likely get thin chairs as opposed to cushioned booths and it feels a tad cramped, but it never felt like an issue. Much easier to get natural light here than the main restaurant if you're a photo taker.
Always the best!!! But I have a son-inlaw that is calabrese he likes Sally's pizza? But my family especially my grandchildren absolutely love Pepe's we are Sicilian we know what's the best !!!
This is the original Frank's and I was so excited. They were super understaffed and servers barely came back, the pizza was tough but I got the clam pie and it was okay. These are tough times so I understand it is different with so many limitations. I look forward to going back during a different time :)
While the clam pizza may be their most famous fare, I personally think their other styles are much more appetizing, but nonetheless it is worth a try. The thin crust here is as thin as possible, so it is surprising how much flavor there is in what little there is!
Unfortunately they were out of clams, but I still enjoyed my pepperoni, sausage, and mushroom pizza. The crust was thin and crispy, with some charring. Sauce was nice and tangy. The toppings were ample with large, juicy sausage morsels. On top of the food, the service was quite genial. I enjoyed my dinner here
Nothing can beat a Frank Pepe pizza! Simply the best pizza that money can buy. Takeout is often the best option since they are so popular and on the weekends there are long lines to get in.
pepe's is not worth the hour-plus wait every night. yes, it's delicious pizza, but you can get that elsewhere without wasting your entire evening in frustration. by the time your food comes, you won't be hungry.
Another New Haven treasure. Possibly the origin of pizza in America. Defines the New Haven style, featuring dry mozzarella (as an extra) and a charred crust resulting from firing in a coal oven.
Good pizza but honestly it didn't live to my expectations to the hype it was getting. The dough was burnt. Very floppy and too much sauce and oil. Slight above average at best. Nothing great!
High expectation based on the reviews. Got there around 7pm and both locations had long lines, so take out was the option. The white clams pizza was very disappointing, not much clams, baked dry and tough and the crust was very doughy. The margarita pizza was better, liked the tomato sauce and the cheese. Unfortunately, the crust was too burned. I have had better pizza elsewhere.
!!!!! The pizza is aaahhhmazing!!! My husband and I live in NYC and were on vacation in New Haven when we heard about Frank Pepe's having "The Best Pizza in America" so we decided to try it. The clam pizza is supposedly "the best" which they were out of the day we went so we had the margaheritta and the 4 cheese pizza and let me just say, WOW....excellent taste!! Better than any pizza we have had in NYC. We plan on traveling to New Haven again just for this pizza. Seriously the pizza here is that good!! Great service too.
We saw they have a Yonkers location and spent over $40 Ubering back and forth to Yonkers hoping it would be the same but we were highly disappointed in the taste at the Yonkers location. Frank Pepe's in New Haven is worth the road trip!!!
How would you rate a place which already has a legacy behind it s name? All I can say is - this is one of the best Pizza places, hands down. Simply try the original tomato pie or the cheese pizza. You dont need any toppings! Parking is tough just because if its location. If you have to dine in, be prepared to stand in a queue to get it!
Truly some of the best pizza I've ever had (and I lived in Brooklyn). Try the fresh tomato pie, but if you really don't like tomatoes, get the otriginal or the quatro formaggi. They don't go heavy on the gorgonzola which is nice and they serve it on tomato sauce, whereas most places leave it out.
Good pizza, but I do not know if it's worth the hype. My vote is to go with the cheaper option at Modern Pizza, unless you just want to check out Little Italy.
Pepe's pizza is a great experience all around. They have a kind and attentive staff. The restaurant has a lot of history on the walls and a great atmosphere. The pizza is incredible! My favorite is their Quattro Formaggi pizza, which will blow you away. You can really taste the freshness in their ingredients!
