Beautiful setting, amazing architecture, and vast views. Our tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable about every detail of the home. Did not get a chance to compare to Fallingwater, but this is a stand alone gem on the edge of the beautiful Ohiopyle State Park that should not be missed! The gift shop (greenhouse) provides good food, ice cream and beverages from a friendly staff to keep you entertained during a short wait for a bus to take your tour up the hill to the home. Ohiopyle is just a few miles away if you prefer the casual dining of a quaint river town.

This other house of Frank Lloyd Wright wouldn t have been built if the Hagen family didn t visit their friends Kaufmans in Fallingwater. Mrs Hagen asked to make many changes as they wanted to live here full time and as the result this 1956 house is much more livable and cosy though not as visually inspiring as Fallingwater. The grounds are very nice with a beautiful viewpoint. Instagram @joyofthemoment.travel #joyofthemoment_pennsylvania
My wife and I love Frank Lloyd Wright's work and Kentuck Knob did not disappoint. Not quite as grand as Fallingwater, but that actually makes it easier to take in the details!
Frank Lloyd Wright house's are always interesting. That being said at Kentucky Knob you only go through living room, dining room, and kitchen for $20. You can see so much more right down the road at Fallingwater for $18.
What can be said that hasn't already? And F.L.W. was correct, his home; no matter how much a work of art, is no comparison to God's grandeur of the scenic overlook from the knob. Take the wooded trail back! The only way to go! ;-)
I served at Checkpoint Charlie during the Fall of the Berlin Wall. It's nice to only travel an hour to Kentuck Knob to remember that historic day. A large piece of the Berlin Wall on display. My son and I enjoyed our immensely
Wow!!! As impressive as Falling Water, but in a different setting. The grounds are dotted with many different art pieces, including an actual section of the Berlin Wall. The house is gorgeous and well worth taking a tour. It is cheaper for the tour than Falling Water, but just as beautiful. Well worth the admission. Laurel Highlands are close by along with Fort Necessity, Falling Water, and Ohiopyle. Great area to visit.
Kentuck Knob is an exceptional visit! A must see if you are coming to the Ohiopyle area. Everything is five star, the guest shop, staff, docents! Take the tour and do the sculpture walk.
Thank you to the owner of this wonderful and historic example of thoughtful and inventive architectural design and construction. My spouse and I availed ourselves of the opportunity to revisit Kentuck Knob after our first encounter some 15 years past. We first learned about Wright's last private home commission when visiting nearby Fallingwater while family camping in Ohiopyle State Park.
Having lived in Madison, Wisconsin, my spouse and I were familiar with Frank Lloyd Wright's career and work, as several houses and a Unitarian chapel of his design grace the city, so we looked forward to exploring the famous Fallingwater. Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed. The docent who led the tour heard our reactions about the feeling or atmosphere of Fallingwater's living spaces and recommended we visit Kentuck Knob.
Having taken the shorter limited tour our first go round, we bought tickets for the more expansive tour and presentation of the entire home. I want to thank the docent, Luann, by name, as she was delightful guide. Your anecdotes and personal connection to the original owners who commissioned the design of their home brings a sense of the fullness of living with and adapting an architectural gem.
The owner has restored and maintains this work of art, and we thank him for his generosity of making his home available that one might momentarily occupy and experience a well thought out, responsive design and the resulting well crafted execution of plan and construction. A gem indeed.
Had the opportunity to visit Kentuck Knob, one of FLW's last projects in his lifetime. It's a beautiful example of his aesthetic style. The house itself is awe inspiring, with hand cut stonework and intricate angle work. There's no interior photography permitted but you can photograph the grounds and art installations on the grounds including pieces of the Berlin Wall... Highly recommend if you are a architectural enthusiast..
The Kentuck Knob home, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is a pleasant place to visit! The staff there was very helpful and knowledgeable.
We did the guided tour at Kentuck Knob and it was worth it, tremendously. Not sure if there is a self-guided tour at Kentuck Knob, like there currently is at Fallingwater, but a guide adds to the experience! We wish we would have utilized a guide at Fallingwater.
For us the guided added so much from the door stops on the porch to the Hagan's relationship with the Kaufmann family.
The beauty of the house speaks for itself. Although not well known as Fallingwater, it is still worth the visit to experience the smaller yet as well designed home.
THANK YOU, Peter Palumbo, for opening your home to the public for viewing! What a joy it was to experience!
And THANK YOU, Bernardine and I.N. Hagan, for commissioning Wright to design their home! And to Herman Keys and the many crafts persons that built it with such great details and attention! And to the many that have maintained it! Great work each of you and again, Thank YOU!

A Frank Lloyd Wright must see...tours and great little store with lots of FLW goodies...and great ice cream...original owner owned an ice cream company.
As mentioned approximately 13 miles from Laurel Caverns is Kentuck Knob. If you're familiar with FLW homes this one can't be missed. The shuttle will take you from the entrance to the house. After the house tour I highly recommend the Woodland Walk. You will see post World War II items along the way.
Great tour of a beautiful home. Adjusted for safety for the pandemic but it was great to be able to see this national treasure. Make sure to give yourself time at the end of your tour to walk the fantastic grounds and see the displayed sculptures and amazing views.
It's worth seeing. Our tour guide, Macy, was wonderful. We were there the day after visiting Falling Water and the comparisons were interesting to see. The woodland walk through the sculpture garden was refreshing.
An impressive example of Wright's design and work coupled with a terrific guide makes for an exceptional experience. The home is in amazing, original condition, perhaps only having 2 owners who have always admired Wright has helped. The current owners are british, which explains some of the art work around the home. I wish I could remember my guides name, she was very informative, answered all of our questions and had some great stories. I've been to quite a few Wright homes and this is up there for when it comes to access, information, and quality of experience. The shuttle driver even added a few tidbits about historical property lines and how the views would have been when built that enriched your perspective. Highly recommend you visit!
Unique experience. Thought it was a-little pricey per person for what you see but overall neat aspects to the house. Knowledgeable and friendly tour guide in addition to the friendly people who work in the gift shop.
Great in depth tour, wonderful walk back down to the visitors center after taking in the view. Telephone booths are do not touch . We only realized this after we had our picture taken in them. Be sure to try the local ice cream in the gift shop which is how the original owner made his fortune. Neat collection of artwork throughout the property adds to the wonderful FLW home experience

Beautiful example of Frank Lloyd Wright's work in a gorgeous wooded setting. Lovely repeating shapes in clerastory windows, terrace cutouts, and inset lights. I loved the harmony with nature. Look out for the triangular rainspouts in the eaves directing water to form basins in natural stone beneath. I did not love the current owner's art scattered around the property, but to each their own.
Falling Water tours were full so we chose this as our fallback. We were blown away with the house and tour! The house was amazing, well-preserved, and the guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. After the interior tour we wandered the immediate grounds then followed the sculpture meadow path back to the visitor center. The center serves ice cream from the original owner s dairy business. The new owner has added the sculptures and London red box phone booths. Don t let Falling Water overshadow this example of Frank Lloyd Wright homes from his late years.
Seeing both Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob are a must when you visit this region. We visited these homes over two days and to be able to compare and contrast these two examples of Frank Lloyd Wright's work adds another layer of depth to the experience.
This is a must see place. I have been to Falling Waters and now Kentuck Knob and this place is far better then Falling Waters. Falling Waters seemed to be more of a art studio then on the tour then an house. Kentuck Knob is an amazing house and way more centered around being practical. The tour guide we had here was very informative and was very nice. I like that the tour here was based on the architecture side of things and not just the art side of things. I feel like this house should be given a lot more publicity then it gets.

I was not sure if it is worth the money after seeing the Fallingwaters, but it is! This place is lot less crowded then nearby Fallingwaters, but the house is amazing.
Friendly and understanding staff in gift shop. We went on a rainy day so didn't tour the inside, but the outside was beautiful and sonwas the art to the house. We especially liked the piece of the Berlin wall.
A great private tour of a Frank Lloyd Wright house where hexagons are the theme. Provides a great contrast to Fallingwater on the Wright tour of the area.
Very professional staff eager to help. Our guide ignored my sarcasm & my corning commentary & provided everyone with excellent & complete answers. He even told me something I didn't know. Hats off to the whole operation.
We found Kentuck Knob much more interesting than Falling Water. The current owner has made the home very accessible and displays his own collections in the space. This gives you the sense that it is "alive" , lived in and current. We were surprised to enjoy it more than Falling Water.
Set into the mountains on 89 acres overlooking Uniontown. Built in 1953, it was one of Wright's last houses, and reflects his later Usonian style. The house is so well-ventilated it needs no air conditioning. Unlike other Wright homes, this has never had structural or leaking problems, thanks to a steel frame. Outdoor photography only allowed, and you must book a guided tour to visit. We enjoyed strolling through the sculpture garden, which includes a section from the Berlin Wall.
I did the Woodland Walk yesterday, and it was absolutely beautiful. The stone paths around the house led into the woods. There s a path to a bench where you can see a breathtaking view of the Youghiogheny Valley, rolling mountains in mist. I m planning to return with my sister because the house and some of the paths are very accessible for people with disabilities. There s handicapped parking by the visitor center and a shuttle bus that takes you right up to the house if you are unable to walk on the wooded path up the hill.
Kentuck Knob is fantastic. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Plan several hours to take the tour, wander the grounds and get an ice cream. Took the Fallingwater tour in the morning and Kentuck Knob in the afternoon... a very good day of sightseeing.
Absolutely loved it! What an amazing piece of architecture. The house was planned to every single detail. My favourite part was the distribution with the kitchen at the centre, the heart of the house.
Wonderful and unexpected. I highly recommend stopping by if you're near fallingwater or just in general are looking for something to do in Southwest PA.
Called ahead for last tour. Had umbrellas to borrow in the visitor center, the shuttle, and the house itself. Very good idea since we forgot our rain gear. Thank you made our visit much more enjoyable. Took walking sculpture pathway back.
This is a less popular Frank Lloyd Wright house, but it is just as worth visiting as Fallingwater. It's a very fun, quirky house to visit and quite different than most I've seen. The tours here are very informative and you get a chance to not only tour the house, but walk through the vast property and look at the sculpture garden. If you are in the area and go check out this house and you will not be disappointed.
