This is a very nice hotel. I went there for a wedding. The bathrooms were clean, the food was outstanding out of this world. Had ham, Turkey, cheese biscuits, mash potatoes. Mini bbq sandwiches, grits and shrimp samples.... many more sample items.

Nice hotel, but not worth the $300+ I pad for the night. We were told our room was upgraded to a deluxe room or,it just seemed, like an average hotel room and the bathroom was really tiny and had a light mildew smell. The front desk receptionist was not very knowledgeable about billing and provides misinformation.

Home away from home! On the road for 3 months and Krystal was by far the sweetest hospitality person I've encountered coming in late so needed: gym, eating, parking before i got there. Called 3 different times and we just chatted like I was an old friend on my way to see her. felt like home before I got there where Taylor checked me in (sweetie) . So glad Krystal was there to greet me too!! Comfy beds, great atmosphere, location, quiet and staff!! Will be back xoxo

We stayed here on our Honeymoon. I wanted to stay here because I am a huge History Nerd and loved Francis Marion. My wife liked because it was a beautiful hotel. The room was nice and the view was of the park across the street. It was in walking distance of a lot of shops and sights. would stay here again for sure.

It all started with Rachel at reception who was incredibly friendly, helpful and she made me feel very welcomed. The convention rooms were historic and notification and the staff service was wonderful. My room was spacious, clean and my bed was comfy. All round great experience.

This archaic relic of vintage Charleston offers updated luxury without compromising the historic integrity of the hotel, once the biggest in the Carolinas when it opened in 1924. The location is ideal: it's surrounded by restaurants, right next to a giant park, and only a block from meeting street and the shopping district. Rooms are large & clean, lobby is elegant chic, and staff is cordial and accommodating. I strongly recommend this hotel for your upcoming stay in downtown Charleston. Plus, THERE'S A STARBUCKS IN THE LOBBY!!

Our stay at the Francis Marion Hotel for Christmas was perfect. We were greeted at the door upon entering. The front desk personnel were welcoming and helpful. Our room provided a beautiful view of the church spires. Our meals at the Swamp Fox Restaurant were perfectly prepared and elegantly presented. The lobby was decorated with a beautiful Christmas tree and poinsettias on every table. A pianist provided the most relaxing music. We will return to experience again a magical Christmas the Francis Marion Hotel provided.

The room was very small, the staff was incredibly inattentive, overall it was over-pPriced for what we got. We checked out early to go to another hotel, that's how much we didn't like it. Water marks on the wall, the bathroom was lacking any type of style, and there was no fridge.

My husband and I stayed at the Francis Marion Hotel for a weekend getaway. The first night we stayed, there was a mix up with the rooms and the only one available was one with two twin beds. The staff was extremely helpful and upgraded us to an even nicer room with a queen bed the next night. The restaurant located in the hotel was also excellent! Perfect location to walk down Kings street and enjoy great food and bars as well as shopping. We look forward to returning!

Very unhappy with my booking experience. My friend I and both called to book rooms within an hour of each other. Neither one of us got a room in the wedding block (our fault by not calling sooner). She was allowed to book 2 nights at the discounted rate. When I called, I was told I could not book 2 nights (even at regular price), there is a three night minimum. I spoke to the manager and she was rude and not helpful. I do not think that it is fair to offer different prices and night minimums to different people just to make an extra buck. It seemed that all the sudden they decided that it was a busy weekend and could price gouge.

Staff was friendly, but housekeeping never came to clean the room. Parking garage is completely separate and a bit of a hassle to get to with a lot of luggage. The refrigerator kept cutting off. The fitness room is nice. It's a beautiful place, but I wouldn't want to stay there again.

Comfortable spacious lobby with plush armchairs. Helpful and courteous front desk staff. I met friends there who were staying as guests but I didn't see their rooms so can't speak to the comfort level of the rooms. From my hour in the lobby I had the impression of old world charm.

My organization recently hosted a conference at this hotel with over 300 people and I was responsible for the event. The staff's standard of service was next to none! Their responsiveness and dependability was incredible. The event staff came early, stayed late, always checked in, provided cell numbers for efficient communication, and appeared at the drop of a dime if any issues arose. I felt like the staff cared just as much about the success of the event as I did and that was extremely comforting. If you are considering a venue for hosting an event, rest assured that this hotel has well-trained staff who will take great care of you!

Great location, but old and tired. Common areas and elevators especially need some love. The music they play in the common areas reminds me of the music they played in The Shining when the bar area came to life. Old and creepy. But you can't be the location so there's that.

Really enjoyed the stay other than the poor water pressure. Booked on Hotwire so I knew we might not be in the most desirable room, but the front desk was really accommodating and bumped us up to a king room. Would be 5 stars if the water pressure had been better, that's the only complaint.

Francis Marion Hotel is a personal favorite of mine. Steeped in Charleston history, this hotel combines the beauty of the past era with beautiful architecture and a hint of historical ambiance while providing modern amenities. The Gold room is the perfect backdrop for wedding receptions. As a wedding/special event florist, it has become a personal favorite

My wife and I only went for dinner at The Swamp Fox. They serve great food and provide a wonderful dinner atmosphere, but I'm not entirely sure that the prices are absolutely worth the food you get.

Awesome staff all-around. Elevators could use a refurb (especially the one on the left, the door constantly reopens upon closing). Doors to rooms seem insecure with large gaps, no in-room safe. Older establishment, so expect a small bathroom. Air conditioning works amazingly awesome. Starbucks downstairs is quite busy in the morning. Hotel is amazingly located (holy crap try Smoke Barbecue's pastrami!).

We drove from MB, SC after a long, late day. My husband called to confirm our reservations around 7:30 pm and mentioned we would be late checking in. As we were parking in front of the hotel around 10:30pm, Elizabeth called to inform us they had overbooked and we had no room. She could not explain what had occurred. Although she offered to get us in a king room a block away at Courtyard, the conference my husband was attending was at Francis Marion. She offered to move us on the following day, but I declined knowing our plans were already disrupted and I didn t want more disruptions by having to pack up and move again. We opted to stay both nights at the Courtyard and Elizabeth was willing to make that happen. This morning, however, she was no longer willing to comp our night at the Courtyard. Their mistake caused tremendous inconvenience. Today, when a conference session ended a bit early, my husband couldn t return to our room for a brief rest because we were over a block away for him to walk..... The last time we tried to stay st the Francis Marion, we left soon after our arrival. Two roaches found in the bathroom-1 on floor and 1 in tub, lots of hairs in corners of bathroom floor and in tub, and bed headboard was 1/2 thick in dust. While waiting in our parked car in front late last night, several sketchy individuals who were loitering tapped on our window wanting a ride. When we refused, they directed verbal and hand gestures towards us before heading into the Francis Marion and proceeding down the hallway. According to a local police officer, the sketchy folks hanging around there is a common occurrence as is the musty smell. I d hoped our stay would be better this time, but not so.

My husband and I wanted to visit Charleston for our anniversary. I chose Francis Marion because it was in the heart of it all. Our stay was perfect from the time we arrived until the time we left. We were greeted in our room with a strawberry tray from the concierge Thomas. Who also answered every dinning question we had, including dinner at Hanks and Breakfast at Jacks. The staff was amazingly pleasant and always willing to help us. We chose to valet so that we wouldn't have to deal with the city parking deck and Tanner our valet was our favorite attendants. I left my phone
in the car and he promptly returned it without me having to ask. We stayed in a very cute room that had a his and hers theme. The bathrooms are less than 100 sqft but I had my own and my husband had his own so there was a slight reconciliation in that degree. We even had his and hers vanities with my side having a chair and vanity mirror and his side had a desk. The room itself was ample in size. Seeing previous rooms I assumed it would be smaller and was pleasantly surprised by the gorgeous city view outside of our window. This was truly an amazing experience. We will return to this hotel again. It is truly magical and every detail was not left unnoticed. If you are in Charleston and looking for a nice hotel with even better people that still has the style and grace of
Charleston, stay at the Francis Marion. P.S. they have a texting service that I've never seen before. Where you can text anything you need and it was promptly replied to by someone not an automated system.

The Francis Marion is one of my favorite hotels and event spaces in Charleston. It is conveniently located on the corner of Calhoun and King Streets overlooking Marion Square and is walking distance to just about anywhere on the Charleston Peninsula. This hotel is very big and grand from the big lobby with the high ceilings, to the multiple ball rooms and meeting spaces, to the rooms. This hotel works very well as an event venue and I have attended many great events here and have never been dissapointed by what the Francis Marion offers. This hotel is also really good for business purposes as there are many great spaces and rooms to hold meetings. The staff here is great and accommodating and will go out of their way to make sure that you have everything that you need. Overall this is an awesome hotel that has everything.

On Sunday 02/11/18 @ 10pm. I happened to be standing in from of their valet desk drinking a coffee when I began to not feel well and lost consciousness and hit the ground. From my understanding the staff at Francis Marion whom included Adam, Rob & Elizabeth came to my aid and redered BLS skills until Charleston Fire and EMS arrived. I was transported to Roper hospital where It was discovered that I had some brain trauma related issues due to my time in the military.I am now getting all of this treated but wnted to reach out to the Francis Marion and their staff for going above and beyond what they had to do as it might possibly have saved my life. So thanks you all!!!

I would highly recommend anyone visiting Charleston,SC to stay at The Francis Marion Hotel not only for the great location, beautiful decor but for their AMAZING and thoughtful staff! Once again thank you all!!!

Sincerly,
Steven Blanchfied
