We ate at the restaurant in the hotel, Swamp Fox. It was the weekend buffet. For $20/person, it was a great deal given the amount and variety of food, and after 10am, a free mimosa. The grits were amazing, and the omelet bar was delicious. Some of the biscuits were a little hard from being out for a bit, but they quickly bright fresh ones directly to our table. I would eat there again.

I was there for a pre wedding brunch and wedding with dinner after. The food was delicious, albeit a bit expensive for what we got, and all of the personnel were super friendly and accommodating. The hotel is beautiful and the location is interesting.

We stayed here two nights and found it a comfortable non-pretentious hotel in a great location. We loved Jennie who checked us in and sent us to cru cafe for lunch when our room wasn't quite ready. . She was friendly warm and helpful with lots of suggestions.

I've never stayed here, but my wife's office has their holiday party here every year. The people are always very nice, the hotel is a nice higher end place, and the ballroom is nice and big for our parties.

Loved this hotel! You can feel the history of this building and yet it is very modern. PERFECT location. It is right in the middle of everything. Everything was very clean and staff was very attentive.
The bad: the bathrooms are quite small. They are smaller than a bathroom on a cruise ship. The lack of a swimming pool is another negative for us. After walking around Charleston it would have been nice to enjoy an adult beverage by the pool after a dip.

An interesting historic hotel in downtown with a restaurant, ball rooms and even spaces. The location is great, but as it was built in the 1920s, the bathrooms are small, rooms a little funky, etc. Everything was renovated nicely, but it is not the greatest place to stay, especially at the rates that they charge.

We had a lot of fun staying here even if it was only for a night. It was really beautiful and historic! We were on the 11th floor and had a fantastic view! Only down side was when we went out a little later in the night there was no doorman to help us.

This is my favorite hotel in Charleston. It has old world charm and yet modern rooms overlooking the square. It is elegant and yet in the heart of a very young community at the College of Charleston is around the corner. It is also in the perfect center of town where you can walk to all the nicest shops and restaurants and historic waterfront. The staff is very welcoming and there is a restaurant and starbucks in the hotel for convenience. Would have given it five stars but the parking is a bit difficult to get to once you pass the main entrance and you will have to navigate around the main building but pass several lots that actually belong to the College and it is difficult to tell which is which. Have stayed there three times and enjoyed each time.

Paint on the ceiling of room is peeling. The rooms have horrendous ventilation and the bathrooms are extremely small with little to no ventilation as well. Difficult to regulate the room temperature. The staff itself is friendly and helpful though.

Found it on Priceline for $136 (off season monday-wednesday) which was a great deal. The location is great for active people. We didn't have a car and we're able to walk the entire city each day. The rooms are small but the historic nature is worth the size.

Stayed at the hotel for an academic conference. The location was nice, although there was a lot of street noise at all hours of the night. Very close to a lot of local food and attractions.

I attended a 3 day symposium that was hosted here. Lunch, dinner, and snacks were served and everything was spot on amazing. Service, food, drinks, and rooms were all amazing as if they spared no expense to make the time enjoyable. I would recommend this place to any and all people I meet.

We visited the Starbucks attached to the hotel. Since we needed to use the restroom we walked into the lobby at were at first frustrated the closest restroom required a code (even though we know most hotels don't offer public restrooms). The gentleman working in the small gift shop gave us the code and was very nice while we stopped in the store. The staff working at the bellhop station were also very nice and looked to be attentive to everyone coming and going.

Nice hotel and was at a decent price. It is right in the center of town across from the square which was pretty a around Christmas time when we stayed. Was clean and staff was very nice. I did expect a larger room though. It was smaller than most chain motels. Also, being on the strip, there is lots of foot traffic outside and it was very loud with people laughing and shouting, just being drunk from going to all the bars. The hotel was ok but I didn't like the location for my family. It is a good location for young couples or singles.

Historic hotel with Southern grace and a Starbucks. We noticed that the staff met in the mornings to plan the work day. It felt like they were proud of their facility and it showed. Beautiful and well kept.

Your guest needed my help to get something she purchased from me back to your hotel, but she didn't allow me to come inside the hotel. I was disappointed because I wanted to see how pretty your hotel was because heard many stories. I guess I will never know.

We stayed at this hotel last week for my husband's business conference. Personally, I wouldn't pay this kind of money to stay at a hotel that doesn't allow dogs. We only stay at dog-friendly hotels but if that's not an issue for you, this hotel was very nice. The elevators were extremely slow and would stop on random floors but it's an old hotel so, I'm sure that's the reason. We ate at the hotel restaurant our last night there & thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The food & service was amazing. I would have enjoyed the entire hotel experience even more, had I been able to share it with our furbaby. I'm giving it 5 stars for the quality/atmosphere of the hotel/hotel rooms. (Food pictured is my Crab Stuffed Flounder I ordered at the hotel restaurant & breakfast I ordered via room service)

Beautiful historic hotel, friendly and courteous staff made us feel very welcome. The interior is gorgeous would classify as a work of art. The wood work, historic paintings and amazing chandeliers stand out.
The breakfast buffet featured a wide selection of options.
Would definitely stay again when visiting Charleston

The staff is the most friendly I have ever encountered in a hotel in Charleston. They put a lot of effort in to make you feel like their honored guest and it creates a unique experience in the price range. The rooms are clean and well-equipped. Overall, one of my favorite go-to accommodations on King Street.
