This review is SO long overdue. 2 weeks prior to Christmas, we were displaced from our home due to a water intrusion event. It was an awful situation that did not end well. We ended up spending about 7 months at the 4 Seasons Aviara. I cannot find the right words to express our gratitude and love for the entire Aviara staff. Every single person from the front desk, extended stay staff, waitstaff, the pool staff!!, etc were over and above wonderful. An entire group of housekeeping ladies treated me almost like a daughter, always asking about my health, my kids etc with really genuine concern. They went WAY out of the way to do anything and everything to make me feel safe while dealing with some real PTSD resulting from the water/mold situation we had fled. This was really the worst year of our lives and we will never forget the kindness shown to us at the 4 Seasons Aviara. Oh...it s also absolutely beautiful, clean, very well maintained, the sunsets from many of the units are amazing, and that turkey sandwich by the pool is my favorite in all of SD!!

We managed to secure a week here through SFX timeshare exchange. Only things that didn't impress me were: 1) our suite was " ground level" which meant parking on the street was a level above? We had to do a flight of stairs every time you left and returned. Not a big deal for most but we are aging and not in the best of shape...we managed. 2) the road leading to the place from the North is horrible, hairpin turns downhill with large rumble strips. You learn quickly to approach from the South...a little farther but much more pleasent and quicker. 3) location wasn't the greatest. Couldn't see the ocean and nothing in walking distance. I guess if you are looking for quiet this is a plus...but you definitely need a vehicle...free parking. Now for the good...everything else! The places are beautiful, very well kept and huge. Daily light housekeeping is included which is rare in timeshares...they did a wonderful job. Very well equipped rooms. Highspeed Wifi included. Was not asked once to attend a timeshare presentation. The registration desk folks double as the concierges and bend over backwards to help you. We didn't partake in the food or drinks as they were out of our price range. The pool area was nice, attendants were excellent. We arrived early so we went out for lunch and they texted us when our room was ready.
Gorgeous property, beautiful rooms, "white glove" clean everywhere on the property. Every employee is amazing, kind, helpful and quick to respond. Beautiful views from our room. Great restaurant on site ("Seasons"...try it for Happy Hour!). We can't say enough good things about it. Truly, in this case, you get what you pay for.
Gorgeous gorgeous hotel. The pool is magnificent here- really. All the perfect little touches that only a 5 star can do, and they did them perfectly. Loved being greeted with warm hand towels and tea. The staff anticipates your every move and delivers before you can even ask. My stay here was extraordinary.
The weakest hotel I've ever visited in the Four Seasons. The lamp and telephone were broken in the room. There is coffee, salt and pepper, but no sugar and cream! Not a single bottle of water was supplied either !!! But they put in the washing powder! What is the logic ??? Check in at the hotel at 4:30 pm and check out at 10 am !!! I only wake up at 10, especially on Sunday !!! I have never seen this anywhere! There is no mini bar. There are no slippers in the room, you need to call and ask and bring one pair. They forgot to bring ice. The hotel's jacuzzi does not work. In the restaurant, the service is generally impudent, dirty dishes are not cleaned on time.
Excellent hotel formerly owned by the Four Seasons.
Vivace is my favorite Italian restaurant in San Diego. Pricey but delicious. The bar area is also very nice and has a different menu. Both also have outdoor seating. Vivace also has a very talented jazz guitarist on the weekends.
Very pretty hotel with a number of different restaurants. It's known for the golf course and the national competitions. Highly recommended!
5 star accommodations in the gorgeous city of Carlsbad. The service is top notch, the views are exquisite, and my wife and I had a fantastic dinner at the restaurant. I really wish I could have stayed longer.
We had dinner have with friends (who stay at the Residence Club every year for the past 10 years). The hostess last night was taking everyone s temperature with an infrared thermometer on guests wrists instead of the usual temple or forehead. All of our temperatures read 92.7- 94 degrees which is considered a state of mild hypothermia. When I mentioned we had doctors in our group, and it is suggested she take them on the forehead or temple, she took offense and was RUDE thereafter. I don t know who gave her permission or training, but I m sure it wasn t the CDC or a group of practicing medical doctors who told her to take guest s temperature inaccurately. My friend asked to take her temp on her forehead and it then read, 97 degrees which made more sense versus at her wrist which read, 93 degrees. I hope the entire working staff and chef and cooking team are being screened more carefully than us guests! It would be dangerous if everyone thought their temperature was low or normal when they really had a temperature 4-7 degrees higher than what that lady was viewing. It made us all feel unsafe and uncomfortable. This hostess in front should be more gracious and open minded especially with information from guests and health care professionals in the future when we are all in this together and trying to promote safety. Disappointing, Four Seasons!
Beautiful hotel, great service. Had a minor issue in the room we were originally given; the staff found an equivalent room with a nicer view for us and moved us into it quickly. They also accommodate for food allergies very well.
Extremely well-appointed suites, very quiet and private with very comfortable beds and the world's best climate control. Terrific amenities at the resort and at the Park Hyatt, which is shared. Nice location with lots of interesting attractions and restaurants nearby (that you have to drive to -- not a bicycle-friendly area). 4 pools and hot tubs and 3 workout areas. I am knocking them down one star because they added a $20 spa facility fee. THAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED as it originally was. There are plenty of other ways to save that money, as many things are staffed on off-hours where they don't need to be.
Also the Park Hyatt's fitness center could use more equipment for weights.
The room was incre not asdible. The bathroom was excellent (something I certainly pay attention to) and the pool and facilities are top notch. It's a bit off the beaten path but that's okay
I love this resort. We come here every few years. Of course, the four season services are always outstanding. I was especially impressed when they treated my young sons as adults with a lot of respects.
Stayed during Thankgiving with family. Our room was located in Osprey Terrace., uphill from registration. Rooms are very spacious. 2 queen sofas. Two King size beds, washer dryer, The kitchen had high quality appliances. We had daily housekeeping service. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Beach, shopping, Battingos lagoon, Leo carillo historic ranch within 5 miles drive. We definitly will come back to this location. Added plus is pets are welcome with additional fees.
This place is seriously amazing if you re looking for a luxurious place to stay. The atmosphere is relaxing, the staff is amazing, the bar and restaurants have delicious choices to choose from and the lost goes on. My family and I have stayed this month and don t have a single complaint. It s local to Legoland, about 40 min north of Downtown San Diego, and Coronado. It s very kid friendly and well maintained. A huge shout out goes to everyone at the Four Seasons Aviara.
Very kids friendly and the highest service quality I have experienced in my life. A truly unforgettable stay full of lovely surprises. I also can really recommend the surf lessons with Ryan.
Great accommodations. Don't ask the front desk about signing up as a member, they get snooty about the program even if you just want your folio auto emailed.
I am posting about driftwood spa experience not accommodations. The treatment (pedicure) was not at all as described in their brochure. It was nothing more than a fancy polish change, very disappointing. The resort accommodations are however lovely. I would stay here again just not use their spa.
My family and I stayed here for a week and felt like royalty. The staff cleans your villas twice a day. Every where you go you are greeted with welcoming smiles and asked if there if anything that can be done for you to make your stay more comfortable. When you check in they have a beverage and hot towel waiting for you. And the amenities were great, pools, spa, kids club, tennis, basketball, chefs table experience, surfing and the list goes on. Highly recommend this place for the experience. We will definitely be back.
This place will treat you as a King/Queen. It will accommodate you and make sure you are 100% satisfied. I never been so happier spending my vacations at Aviara.
We stayed here during the rainy mess the first weekend of March. It was heaven! We were treated so well by the staff; greeted upon arrival with fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade and waters! We loved the resort and our room. My husband loved the workout facilities and how they also were found outside on the patio. I just wish the pool would have been heated a little more so I could have enjoyed it even though it was only 58 degrees outside. (I'm pregnant and was unable to use their great hot tub). Can't wait to come back!
Great location, it is secluded so it is very quiet. Rooms are a great size, plenty of space, and the service is great! They are there to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible.
Came here for my birthday celebration at Seasons Restaurant. Great staff and service. Definitely 5 stars worthy! Great recommendation by your staff member, Michael who I met at the Aviara Golf Club.
Room was very nice with comfortable beds. Unfortunately, our view was over the parking lot instead of the golf course, and they wouldn't move us even though there were other rooms available.
The location for this Residence Club is exquisite and beach-close. Service is superb and food at their Seasons Restaurant is also very good--and convenient. Happy Hour here starts early at 2 p.m. and runs until around 5.
Best upscale hotel in Carlsbad by far. Wold class golf course, great view from any room you stay in. All the rooms are beautiful and equipped with fridge and stove. Beautiful surroundings.
They probably don't need this awesome review, but I was stranded with my kids on way to Legoland, but Tesla died. With no charging stations available the management was kind enough to help out. Next time, I will stay with Four Seasons -- Dr Benjamin
Anyway, I spent a week in a luxurious space. I also took a set of self-nails, so I fixed my nails in my room and relaxed at home. The amenities are L'Occitane and coffee is Kona coffee. There is also sunscreen cream and lotion in the pool.
Checked in on May 25th to Villa 2611/2612 (2 bedroom villa - 2612 is the studio lockoff). Ground floor unit with no ramp or elevator access to/from parking lot. Was told at check in that the room was on the same level as the parking lot. Not the greatest room management choice by inventory control when assigning a room for a week to a party with an infant and toddler who have strollers that need to go up and down flights of stairs with.
Almost immediately upon entering the lockoff room, we noticed a strong odor in the room. At first it was thought to be remnants of stale cigarette smoke and mold. We asked front desk if they have an ionizer to remove the very stale air in the room. After a few hours running the ionizer and having the doors fully opened the stench didn't dissipate. Called again and had the housekeeping manager, Luis come to investigate the air vent in the lockoff. He offered to use chemicals to deep clean the upholstry and shampoo the carpet. After explaining to him that 3 members of our party have eczema and extremely sensitive skin and that chemicals to mask the stench wasn't an acceptable solution, we decided to leave it for the night and asked for the manager to call us first thing in the morning.
The next day its obvious the smell isn't stale cigarette smoke but it is the ventilation system itself. It smells musty or as if an animal died inside. Around 9:30am, the on-duty manager, Alan came back to the room with Luis and the head Engineer to investigate. According to Alan, the lockoff didn't have any smell issues, but the main area had stale air. The engineer acknowledged it was indeed the lockoff ventilation system that was the issue and they went to work to replace the air filter, check the exterior A/C unit, and fix the thermostat which the engineer found wasn't working. Before they started their work, the air vent in the lockoff room had cobwebs, a thick layer of dust and sticky grey substance on the grill. Several hours later and the air quality was marginally better but still strong enough that there's no way anyone can sleep in that room. Since its Memorial Day weekend, we are told the resort is full and we are told there are no other 2 bedroom villas we can be relocated to. We are offered to have housekeeping come and make the pullout couch in the living room into a bed for 2 people to sleep on. A nice touch for Alan to offer housekeeping to be given a set time to come for each subsequent day of our 7 night stay to make the pullout couch for us for the remainder of our stay!
Day 3 - Get a phone call in the morning from a new manager on duty, Jenna - Explain to her how horrible the last 2 nights have been, not being able to sleep in the lockoff, made to sleep on an extremely uncomfortable can feel every spring double mattress (not queen size) pullout couch (that dips in the middle and has metal bars running across your back). Explain that waking up in the morning on the 2nd day with a sore throat from the horrid air quality. Since it's now Memorial Day, many guests have checked out so they are able to offer a new 2 bedroom villa for us to move into later in the day once it's been made up by housekeeping. In the meantime, Jenna offers tea to make up for the sore throat. We politely decline. 3:30pm, our new room is ready. Move into the new room and that's it, that's all. Called again to ask for the GM to have a follow up (third time asking), told he will be back on Tuesday.
Day 4: Tuesday AM, still waiting any sort of follow up.
Otherwise, the beds are very comfortable, the toiletries are good L'occitane brand, but the rooms are now dates and in need of a modern refresh.
Great staff and beautiful residences. Excellent concierge nanny service and more! They also treated our dog like a welcomed guest. Will definitely return~
We loved our 3 days stay. Great hotel, great service, great food and a great location. I am sure the golf, tennis and spa are great as well but we had not enough time to do all of it.
