Favourite shop! For the Chinese... Such a pity, because they have no grace and completely spoil every day in this, otherwise, one of the best shops in London. Any chance for a ban? Or, may be we need to have Olympic Games a few ties a year, in order to enjoy peace and quiet?

I prefer to prepared earlier. I love to visit Fortnum & Mason, especially during the Christmas holidays. I already bought a lot of gifts for my family and I will return, because I have to buy much more :) This Christmas will be fabulous.

I've had high tea at several places around London and Fortnum & Mason is by far my favorite. They have beautiful decor and huge selection of tea. Their 4th floor Diamond Jubilee Tea is lovely and I absolutely loved their tea and scones. They also allow you to take home your leftovers, which is always exciting (some other places do not allow this). My favorite is their Parlour on 2nd floor where you can get affordable tea (around 5 pounds per pot) - great for casual tea.

Must visit. In the heart of London. It is a beautiful store full of delicatessen and everything decorated super elegant. In food is the place where you can find the product that comes to mind. They have them all.

Came here for a light lunch. Had a nice Japanese green tea called Genmaicha which has some toasted brown rice.

The Victoria Sponge was a tad dry which is disappointing as a lot of people come here so it makes me wonder how long they have kept it for. One would expect better quality control from Fortnum & Mason and not sell cakes older than 2 days! I would recommend not to try their cakes until you have inspected them properly as they are on display. It did look dry but I suppose I should have trusted my eyes.

The crab avocado on Melba toast was a lovely starter though. Well seasoned with the right tartness of lemon.

I am resident in Switzerland and in November I ordered a Hamper from F&M to be sent to a military friend serving in Afghanistan.

It never arrived and I heard nothing from F&M.

When I contacted them in February it took almost a month for them to work out what happened to the hamper.

Apparently it had been returned by parcel force as it was too large an item to be delivered to a BFPO address. Fair enough. But why had F&M taken my money and not got back in touch with me?

On the 13th March 2013 I received this email:

"Please accept my apologies for the time it has taken to respond to you. ...... Now I have the information I can confirm that we will be refunding you the full value of the order, and also sending both yourself and your recipient a compensatory gift. We also wish to send a letter of apology to your recipient."

Fine. Now at the end of April I have received a gift card from F&M but still no refund.

When I chased this I received this response on the 20th April:

"Thank you for your email. Please accept our apologies that the refund has not be processed yet. I have viewed your account and the refund has been authorised, but it is showing that our refund department have not contacted you to complete the xxxx credit to your account. I have flagged this now, and you can expect one of my colleagues to contact you on Monday 22nd April for the completion of the refund".

Nobody contacted me.

When I chased it last night, I received this email today:

"We sincerely apologise for the poor level of service you have received from us. Having had a look at your account with us and after speaking to my colleagues in my team, I can see that your refund was added on a gift card and was sent out to you and also to the recipient as an apology on behalf of Fortnum & Mason."

Err....hello...why the sudden change in the agreed compensation offered?

I phoned today and got the same message, when i asked to speak to a Manager in Customer Services I was told they were busy and that someone would phone me back today.

Have they?

No.

I am sure I am a one off - but cannot say I am impressed with their customer service.

Online buyers beware.

If you are looking for a place with a unique atmosphere. This is the right place. Chocolate, jams and various biscuits with a care in the presentation and fantastic packaging. It is certainly not a cheap shop but it is worth buying at least one piece.

Always a favourite shop to visit when in Picadilly!

I always love the selection of English teas and biscuits and for many years haven t gone much further than the ground floor when I visited the store.

But it s got the most amazing selection of clothing, toiletries and a really good selection of men s perfumes and skincare.

On the lower ground floor they have a very nice food hall which has a good selection of fresh fruit and vegetables but it also has a fabulous sandwich counter where you can build your own with great quality fillings and a great selection of home-made breads!!

Highly recommended

Visiting the store is an eye opening experience. They carry varieties of tea, biscuits, wine, tea set, jam and groceries. The staff ate well dressed and courteous. You can spend hours there, whether you have something in mind or just browsing.

Marketing. Maybe it works for some people without the culture of this sort of places. On the the other hand overall good tea, the rest... so so. Price wise... cheaper in southern France on Riviera.

All the tea set in the teaware section on the 1st floor was so pretty and worth a visit ~ The 0th floor is too crowded and insane, but it was fun to see various teas and desserts in a pretty and high-end package ^^

Quite a stunning place. Speaks for itself mainly, seems to retain a lot of its glamour despite being a tourist attraction. Prices are of course, ridiculous, humorous. If you are in the 1% you will find yourself many lovely things to purchase.

One of the best places for shopping in London, perfectly situated 5 minutes from Piccadilly Circus on Piccadilly Circus Road. Extensive choice of teas and foods. Restaurants and tearooms to eat-in.

Lovely department store, a little pricey but the service more than makes up for it. Its a lovely experience and will be visiting again soon. Lack of local parking, although there are a few disabled parking spaces nearby.
