Good beer but there could better organization for ordering your beer maybe some sort of line divider or a sign for there to be more order. I went today and it was and adventure getting a beer. Or even have waiters working the tap room and More

My wife and I drove three hours from near Morgantown, WV, to the birthplace of some of our favorite beer in the World. What a great experience it was for us! The staff was humorous, the Tour was top-notch and the beer was..........FANTASTIC. My new favorite is "The Truth". You can send some free to me if you like!! I can be bought!!!! I am sharing my experience with my nearly 600,000 Twitter followers today. Thank you for a good time - and - we didn't leave naked. DAMN. I STILL will take free beer. I NEED "The Truth"!

The tour you receive is fantastic. For only 5 bucks you get a firsthand look at how it's all done with free samples at the end. The tour guides are eccentric and fun, and you can even get specialty brewed draft beers to go in their growlers. It was a great visit!

I love this brewery and their beers. Then brewery tour is a lot of fun, but tends to book up quickly so plan in advance.

This is a great place to have a beer, get a growler/crowler fill, and just hang out. They recently began serving a few food items, but i haven't tried anything yet. In addition to the widely available varieties you can find in stores, the brewery always has a few rare brews on tap. I would recommend following the brewery on Twitter to find out about events and special beer releases.

There is a nice indoor bar as well as an outdoor patio. I just wish Flying Dog were closer to the beltway.

Just like man's best friend, Flying Dog Brewery is passionate, loyal, and housebroken. Go take an informative guided tour and then try a sampler of their latest creations when you return. Merchandise and apparel is available for purchase on site. The outside patio has picnic seating and food trucks roll up on the weekends to offer a bite to pair with your drink.

Flying Dog is a great social hangout. Visitors may even bring their own furry companions (provided they stay outside and are leashed). Cats don't appreciate good beer and are probably trying to repeal the 1st Amendment. I've never seen any request a tour.

We loved the brewery tour which was roughly 30 minutes long. The tour leader was very personable and not corporate like. You got to taste 4 different beers along the way. Get to enjoy the beer flights afterwards at a very decent price. Two thumbs up!

Visited on Saturday afternoon Labor Day weekend. The tour w/ Justin was amazing. Great time!

Unfortunately, that was as good as it got. I stayed for lunch and a couple of beers. The service by the food truck and the bar staff was horrible. I never got called for my food. When I went to the food truck after 25 mins, I was simply told, "your food has been sitting there for 10 mins." To make matters worse, I didn't even get what I ordered! The bar was busy but when the bartender asks you, what can I get you?, you sort of expect to get it.

There were 5 bartenders (4 guys/1 girl), yet I still had to ask twice for my first beer and had to ask three times for my second beer while other people were walking up to the bar and getting drinks left and right.

I've been a Flying Dog fan for years, which is why I visited brewery, but after today, I may never drink that brand again!

Great beer and Brendan was an awesome tour guide. I too would love, as another review mentioned, if they had a taproom but that would require the laws to change. Still good people brewing good beer for good people.

As a craft beer geek I typically skip brewery tours and head straight for the tasting room, however, I'm so glad that I didn't follow my standard routine at Flying Dog and opted to do the tour on Saturday. My tour guide, Serina, was wonderful and it was clear that she loves her job, her coworkers, and Flying Dog beer. I've always been a fan of their beers, but love them even more now!

Many different styles of excellent beer, an informative tour, cool people, and a nice gift shop with lots of great dog inspired artwork. Get there early for the tour because it's quite popular.

Flying Dog is quite a unique local brewery. They have a great connection to Hunter S Thompson. So if you're into his work it is worth checking out. They always have unique beers that arent like anyone else. If you get a chance to visit the brewery they have an awesome tour and my favorite part is they have beers on tap that they only sell in the brewery. As a huge Flying Dog fan it's fun to go there and have beers that are not at stores. The employees are very friendly and the prices are good. It's a must stop of you're in the area!

Nice brewery! They have all their beers on tap. Flights are $8, single pours are $6, and half-pints are $2 - I believe. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Staff is super friendly and will answer all your questions. They invite food trucks for people hungry. They also have events all the time. No TVs so don't expect to watch the game.

Maybe the best brewery in the USA. Lots of cool merchandise, a food truck, and sitting out on the patio. Life is good. The reason I love Flying Dog beers is they have lots of seasonals, and most beers are strong. Great IPAs. And the artwork on their beers is the best in the industry. BTW, the employee that came up with Naughty and Nice beers, hopefully got a huge Christmas bonus. Genius marketing!!

Awesome microbrewery with great craft beers. The tour was very informative and you got some great samples to taste. Highly recommend the place, you can tell these guys love to make beer.

My wife and I are nearby visiting some of her family so they can meet our recently-born daughter. This girl is 7 weeks old and has already been on flights, road trips, and to several breweries (and done extremely well!!). One of my favorite things about breweries has always been that they encourage a family-atmosphere. I was disappointed to find out this brewery doesn't allow anyone below 21, and that we can't check it off of our list. I've been looking forward to visiting for a while, so I'm pretty disappointed. I understand some people enjoy that this rule is in place, but I just feel like it would be nice if at least the outdoor area would allow kids. I also find it odd that dogs are allowed but humans aren't. Don't get me wrong - I have a German Shepherd who would've been tagging along, but it would be nice to be able to bring my daughter too.

Max was a great tour guide! The free tour was succinct, 30 minutes and lots of good information. Tasting prices are very reasonable and they have a patio area to hang out. Definitely drinks focused more so than food but they did offer three items that day : wild boar meatballs, duck fat hush puppies, and octopus tacos.

Beer is great. Dedication to local is wonderful. Folks who were working were very friendly. We misunderstood that we were not allowed to have a dog inside. The staff was super friendly when they asked us to take him outside.

The brewery was a great experience. I brought my parents here for a fun afternoon. Let me say, they are super friendly here! The guy who stamped our hands made a great first impression. He was laughing and joking with us and made us even more pumped to get inside. The two ladies behind the bar were amazing as well. They were super knowledgeable, and even though I don't drink beer much, were able to find me a great drink.
We also did the brewery tour. The man giving the tour aka the "dungeon master" was wonderful. He answered all of our questions and gave a genuinely interesting tour. If you have the time make sure to take the brewery tour! On the way out I hit up the gift shop which had lots of fun stuff in it. And of course we brought home a case of beer! They allow you to mix and match if you want, so it was a great time!
Thank you to everyone for making our trip here unforgettable... I can't wait to come back!!

I visited Flying Dog brewery for the first time on Black Friday. The tasting room was crowded, but the staff were hospitable and service was prompt. Growler fills are reasonably priced. My friend and I were unaware of the no-children policy until after our visit, but we LOVE it!!

FIRST brewery I ever heard that would not let babies in, but allows dogs? We take our 1 year old to breweries all the time and that includes our fur baby too, so I m not against taking dogs. A baby will not use a fake ID to get beer. Chill flying dog. There are better and family friendly breweries in the area.

This is NOT a review on the beer or the the tours they give, this is a review on the venues they hold...tickets were cheap to see the revivalists, when you get there you can't spend cash to buy beer you have to buy plastic chip tokens to buy beer, they don't tell you but if you don't turn your chips in 2 hours before the concert ends they're nonrefundable... they have 100 police officers surrounding you for security, as your leaving at the end of the show the food trucks sell you food, as you sit down to eat the expensive food that you ordered your told you can't stay and to leave by police...
The band was awesome, but do not support flying dogs venue... you have been warned!!! (P.S. the venues are held in their parking lot in some industrial part of town, ambiance not so good!)

Good selection of great beers. Staff was nice and helpful. Took the tour and they give plenty of free samples out. Prices were reasonable. Don't be fooled by the IPA names on the beers as many were quite mellow. My suggestion would be to get a flight or two and try them all.

Over the years the beer tour has lost it's appeal (while the love of beer remains) but, the Flying Dog tour was actually worthwhile in part because they give you beer samples as you go. The service was good, the beer was good, I'm taking off one star as they really need additional bathrooms.

We had a fantastic experience. We received an impromptu private tour when the tour we intended to take had been cancelled. Josh, our tour guide, was fantastic. Funny and irreverent, with a quick wit. Learned a lot and laughed a lot too! Thank you Josh, for being a wonderful tour guide and human.

Love it. It is located in an industrial park so it's hard to notice from traffic. Very nice area as it has its own sizable space. The beer is always good and strong so it's money well spent! There are outdoor fire pits on the front patio so sitting outside is a great option!

Worth a visit! We did the brewery tour as a group and the guide was really good. The staff is very friendly and the beers are absolutely amazing. Exclusive brews here on site. The staff at the bar was really knowledgeable and taking the time to find a good beer for everyone s taste. there is a nice souvenir shop and the possibility to buy beer to go. I would do it again!

Great CEO and staff. Employees seem to be treated like family and the atmosphere was very down to earth. The beer is incredible. Maryland crabs and flying dog beer is my staple when I get to come back to my native roots. Being stuck in japan for 3 years, I really wish I was able to buy it by the case from a distributor. I recommend checking out the brewery tour.

I came here with my family and was turned away at the door because we brought my 6-month-old. I love this beer and have bought a lot of it, but won't spend another penny on Flying Dog beer as long as this policy is in effect. Shame on you, Flying Dog.

Unfortunately, I can only give one star. If I had the option to I would like to give -5 stars. I was turned away at the door because I had my baby with me and was told that no one under 21 is allowed and I get that if he were a teenager. I think they could use their discretion here I mean is an 8 month old going to take a sip of mommy s bear? Come on now. This brewery likes to pride themselves on being apart of the community I think this rule speaks volumes as to how community friendly they are! From now on I will take my business to the better breweries around town. Idiom, Rockwell, Atta Boy, and basically all of the other breweries around town because they re FAMILY FRIENDLY! Bye bye flying dog you lost my business!

Always a great time at the Flying Dog Brewery. I tried the unfiltered IPA and the Kujo coffee Porter on nitro. Both delicious. Special musical guest tonight was Andrew of Silent Old Mtns. Very pleasant evening with wonderful people around. If you haven't been to this local tap room in Frederick MD, it is a must try for beer lovers. Go!

Drove from PA and was very dissappointed that we couldn't even get in on Father's day. This brewery is NOT kid friendly, won't let anyone under 21 in.

That's understandable given the nature of the environment but at least post it on your Google page, website etc that families are not welcome.

Found it ironic that they were running a Father's day special but the children are not allowed.

The Strawberry Rhubarb Gose beer is delicious! Attended the Matt & Kim concert and was blown away by Flying Dog s generosity to donate profits to Red Cross to support victims of Hurricane Florence. They also had free waters at the show. All around decency and reason to buy more of their yummy beers!

Really cool environment and enough staff on hand to make sure you re not waiting too long for a delicious beer - even when they re crowded. Definitely worth the drive from Baltimore and beyond, even if just to get a taste of the weirdness.

Great brewery but the ownership doesn't allow the servers to get tips unless paid in cash. Who in the hell carries cash. Just dumb.

Update: I neglected to update this a while back. Their policies were changed and servers now get tips. Great to see them respond like this.

On the way home from vacation in NYC when due to unfortunate circumstances had to get a room for the night. We weren't planning on being in Frederick at all, and I didn't even realize Flying Dog was here in town when I checked in. Very happy surprise when I found out one of my favorite breweries was just a few miles away from my hotel! The wonderful, delicious smell of malt being brewed greeted me upon walking up to the tap room. Inside was very nice and clean. Staff was friendly and attentive even though it was pretty crowded at the time. Large on-tap beer list featuring all of their year rounds and several special and tap room only beers! Small gift shop to the side, but packed with a ton of different Flying Dog items and to-go beers. Great place! After my vacation ended on a few bad notes, getting to visit here made it all worth it!

I had a good discussion with a manager at Flying Dog and hope this issue is in progress of being fixed, but it doesn't hurt to raise additional awareness.

This brewery has what I call "high top syndrome" where unfortunately, high top seating is becoming more popular, and often building and code enforcement lets it slip through the cracks. Someone who visits this brewery who uses a wheelchair would be forced to sit outside if they wanted to sit at a table of standard ADA height, which falls between 28-34" in table height, with at least 27" for knee clearance (source: ada.gov). No interior table or bar meets that guideline.

It's an easy fix that I hope they can quickly remedy so that anyone visiting this brewery with mobility issues can feel comfortable at!
