Wonderful staff and a very unique and fresh environment!
Wonderful staff and a very unique and fresh environment!
load pickup early morning in and out quickly people are nice and friendly
We met Jim the CEO what an awesome experience. We absolutely love flying dog it's our go to place every time we come to Frederick MD
Really great beers. There isn't much inside space, which caused them to limit entry. I recommend getting a reservation if you plan on going at a popular time.
A great tour. The tasting room was more fun than we expected. We stuck around, invited a friend and had a great night. Two new beers in the refrigerator, and I want to go back.
Always love getting together to share a few beers here. The atmosphere is usually great and the food trucks are fun too.
Large dissapointment because they don't have a taproom like just about every brewery out there. You can only try their beers if on the tour. Missed the last tour by 15 minutes and its reservations only.
Great tour of a local brewery . Fantastic selection of craft beers to choose from.
Great brew pub! We also toured the brewery, and had an excellent guide. Sampled a few of their beers along the way, and after the tour. The brew pub is very popular, but with an outside patio there was still plenty of space. Flying Dog makes superior beer, and many varieties. It is a worthy place to visit for a beer lover.
Great selection of beers! Fun tour of a brewery! Great people and great friendly service!
Very disappointed that they don't allow young children. Showed up with a group of friends and they said I couldn't take my 1 year old in. They had a patio out front with picnic tables and we asked if I could just sit outside on the patio while my friends got their drinks but they wouldn't let us sit out there either. I have been to countless breweries and wineries and have never seen one that didn't allow children anywhere on the premises, including outside where no alcohol was being served.
Awesome beer. Definitely take a tour it's worthwhile and you get to try a variety of beers. Andrew gave a great and hilarious tour.
Went on a tour and the guide was great, but the brews were better.
Just Ok. The tour took us through a few areas in 30 minutes and you got to sample about 1 oz of one beer. Having been through several beer tours in the US and overseas, this one was a little disappointing. They are missing the marketing aspect that they could have from this. It is basically a tour that is hey, we sell beer now go out in the bar and go drink.
Big label with average beer. For a very large regional brewery, the taproom is very small, they have very dirty restrooms, and the workers were quite rude. If you're looking for 'average at best' craft beer, then this place is for you. There are much better options in Frederick for craft beer, which should put Flying Dog last on the list.
On top of this, they do not allow families with kids under 21. Given the massive advertising in the region, this is an absolutely absurd policy. My family and I drove up to meet family on their way back to Pittsburgh and this was the chosen destination because every other brewery that we've been to welcome families. We were turned away at the door, and stared at by the employees after we quietly walked away - and were quite embarrassed as all of the patrons on the patio stared as well. We will no longer spend another dollar on their beer, and will actively tell others to avoid Flying Dog because of the embarrassment we experienced yesterday.
Cool mix of fresh beer, tasting room and outdoor patio.
The brewery tour was a lot of fun, and they offered almost six beers to try during the tour
Absolutely wonderful! CJ went out of his way to show my boyfriend and I around at a time when they wouldn't have normally done a tour because it was the only time we had. The tour itself was informative and fun, and my boyfriend was so thrilled at how closely the brewery was tied to his hero, Hunter S. Thompson. I just can't say enough about how wonderful CJ and the rest of the staff were!
Well made beer and friendly staff.
They have this overt anti-Pokemon Go stance that's really weird. There are multiple signs in the entrance and throughout the tasting room and bathrooms. The rest of the decor is cool though.
Great beer and atmosphere! This is my husbands favorite brewery. I collect glasses and this is by far my favorite logo out of all the breweries.
First brewery I ve ever been to that doesn t allow children. While reasonable people can have different opinions on that policy, as a parent, it s very inconvenient and I won t be back.
Tasting room is wide open and well lit with natural light. Outdoor patio with tables and umbrellas, and a food truck. Brewery-only options plus all the in-store options you want on tap and on nitro. Tour was interesting and complimented with several tastings. Will definitely go again.
When it's date day with your guy and you enjoy seeing him happy.....you agree to make a trip to Fredrick MD to check out a Brewery with his favorite beers. Flying Dog is nestled in an industrial area with an outdoor and indoor seating area big enough for large groups. The great news is that most of the beers can be found in the DMV area in local stores, so if you don't live in Fredrick no worries.
The atmosphere is laid back and low key but if you feel the urge and start raging, you have the opportunity to take a picture with your favorite raging bi*$h face, which is one of their most popular IPAs that is enjoyable and goes down smooth. Although I don't drink beer I enjoyed the conversation and great music playing in the background. Afterwards a quick stop at the near by Clarksburg Premium Outlets for shopping didnt hurt either.

I had a decent experience as an out-of-towner. Nothing to rave about as this type of brewery experience is becoming more and more common. I do enjoy their beer and have had it before and after visiting the brewery.
Excellent beer with a fun beer garden. Flights are reasonably priced!
I can't believe i live within walking distance to this gem! Staff is always knowledgeable about the different beers and our summers are going to be even more enjoyable with that huge patio they added.
I love this place. The beer is great. The employees are amazing. The atmosphere is just right. Highly recommend!
I've been to a few brewery tours, flying dog being the latest one. It was, to say the least, extremely underwhelming. The tour guide was the best part of the experience. He was lively, fun, and seemed excited about his job. The tour itself though, had little to no amenities. That being, I drove 40 minutes for the tour to get a 4 ounce sample of beer. Where all other tours I've been on, I have gotten at least 3-5 free drinks. For a company as successful as flying dog, it was pretty abysmal. The tour guide said at the beginning, "One thing I'll be saying a lot this tour, 'you can get it at the gift shop.'" After the child's sample of beer during the tour, all the other tourists lined up like cattle at the bar since they were desperate to have some kind of buzz. I wasn't having it, so I went to buy a six pack to go. Turned out, it was 15 dollars. I could get the same thing for 9 or 10 down the road. Not falling for your bait and switch, flying dog. No thanks.
Great beers and great prices! Fun atmosphere and friendly staff.
Great beer, free brewery tour, and awesome beer garden!
Went here for a tour and then spent some time in the tasting room. Tour was an awesome experience and informative. Our tour guide had a great up beat attitude, as well as all the other employees. Got two flights, at $7 it's not too bad. I would definitely come back here again.
Although many of the reviews on Google and Yelp! suggested that we needed a reservation to visit Flying Dog s tap house, we managed to make it in on a chilly and blustery day in February. No matter, though, as the Cold Press Coffee Porter on Nitro immediately warmed every bone in my body to the core. Easily my favorite coffee-flavored beer I have ever tasted, and I bought a growler of it on the spot to take it home to further enjoy as dessert. Flying Dog is easily the most established brewery in the Frederick, MD area and deserves a visit if you re nearby, passing through, or just want a quick road trip!
This was my second tour with Flying Dog - the first time, a couple years ago, was really fun: $5 for the tour, a free engraved wine glass, and 5 complimentary drinks at the bar... Don't expect anything like that today. Although the tour was free, and the tour guide was knowledgable and fun, it was brief in comparison and included zero free drinks and no free glass. By the end of the tour, my friend and I had little motivation to spend money at the bar for drinks but still wanted to bring some beer home with us. We picked up a six-pack from the gift store and brought it to the front counter- the cashier read to us "that'll be $15." Really Flying Dog? I can drive to the GetGo down the street and pick up the same sixer for $9! Both of our eyes widened and our jaw-dropped. For the cashier who may have noticed, that's the countenance of "we won't be back."
Delivered a load of brown bottles today. Receiver was very easy to speak with. Their hours are M-F 630am to 630pm. Check in at the man door up the stairs before Dock 1 at the end of the building.
I'd deliver here again. Under 1 hour in/out, but maybe it's because I arrived at 530pm? LOL In any event it wasn't hard getting here. I-270 exit 31b- 85 south, stay in the left lane because the others disappear into right turns. About 2 miles, T/R onto English Muffin Way, then T/R onto Wedgewood. They're on the left around the curve. Entrance is after their sign out front by the road/entrance. Thanks!!
Edit* The receiver did mention receiving only being open till 6pm even though the sign said 630pm so you may want to call and verify that if you're going to be close on time.
What i can say except saying that's my FAVORITE BEER, also, hard to find a company to drink someone with me lol , It's a Real BEER Man.
The whole experience was extremely disappointing. They made us wait about half and hour before even getting in the door, and getting a beer took at least that long. Definitely wouldn't return.
Always a great atmosphere. Awesome brewery tour too!
Really pleasant staff, good beers, bad beers, worth the experience. I will visit again.
Great selection of beers and a cool atmosphere. No real food options, but nice tours and plenty of brews.
I have been a Flying Dog fan for the beers and visiting reinforced that fandom. The flight tasting system was well thought out and worked well. Only issues were that there was only 1 bathroom stall with a line and the food availability and taste was disappointing.
The place is nice to lay back and hang out with friends and partner. I like the outdoor seating a lot. There are games to be played out there as well. A food truck is also available but I wish there could be more option on that bcos the time I've been there the owner appeared to be flustered and was very visible. Aside from needing more food options it is great.
Great place to visit. Friendly staff, great tasting beer. No reason not to go.
Really nicely done brewery tour with plenty of one-off, unique beers in the tasting room.
They only sell beer in the establishment. There is no food except for an expensive food truck. The beer is better from the tap than the bottles. So there's the positive of coming here. They also have tours and a gift shop!
Nice tour. Super cool yoga classes on weekends. Glad they have food truck sometimes. Good outdoor space. If they had ciders, it would be more attractive, but it s understandable if they don t want to go that direction.
My name is Don. I've been in the seafood industry for 35yrs. My first experience of Flying Dog was today 8/20. I purchased a 6 pack of OLE BAY summer ale to go with our crab dinner. Your master brewer hit a homerun. My wife and I love this brew. Happy here in Minnesota. Thx Flying Dog.
No taproom, and you can only have beer if you are on the tour. The place opens at 12, we got there at 1 and all the tours were booked. Even the one at 5. Who shows up at noon for a tour at 5? They should organize the tours better or have reservations possible ahead of time. I realize they probably don't sell beer because they don't have a liquor license to sell for consumption on premises, but I've been to plenty of breweries that sell "tours" and then give me my "free" samples, even though I didn't do the actual tour, but they wouldn't do that. Overall, very disappointing. Also, the website clearly says no one under 21, even babies, which is dumb. My friends have the chillest baby that should be allowed to tour strapped to his mom. I wouldn't try to go back unless I was in Frederick for other reasons, maybe I'd pop by because I'm obsessed with beer.
Love going here very relaxed feeling and they have outdoor seating. If go during cooler months they have outdoor heaters plus wood fire pits. You can bring your dog!!! They are good at recommending their different beer and dont bat an eye at sampling their crafts. No food served here but they usually have a food trucks outside that are pretty tasty. You will have to be 21 to enter the place so no kids allowed. They also have beer tours and beer geek classes both very informative.
One of the best breweries on the east coast - especially if you're into all sorts of different styles.
Loved this brewery! The staff was very knowledgable and friendly! The tour was entertaining and worth the wait. The location is very spacious and awesome for big groups!
Great beer!! Great atmosphere! They have a great, spacious facility will th friendly staff. The beer is excellent.
Great place to go if you don't have kids (def not kid friendly, even just to shop for a shirt or sign), like the hipster vibe and like being watched by what seems to be scared to death something will happen employees. If you are not into the above, save yourself some time and frustration and cruise down the road to Attaboy, much better place, vibe, employees.
Awesome beers and terrific selection. Pro tip: No one under 21 including infants, toddlers, children allowed.
It was good. But these two dude kept touching eachother with miniature hands
good beers. Food truck option. Check hours before you go as there are several days they close early or are closed. Worth checking out for the quality of the beer
As seen on Drinking Made Easy! Try the Doggy Style Pale Ale.
Excellent beer, we go here after hiking at catoctin and it is a perfect ending. Great service and atmosphere
Fun brewery tour, though it feels a little short. The beer tasting afterwards is a lot of fun. The staff is fantastic, very friendly and knowledgeable. There is lots of Flying Dog merch at the end of the tour for purchase.
Great beer and knowledgeable staff. Sign up for the free tour!
Great experience, good food, great beer. Very cheerful staff, happy clientele
We have been to many breweries, Flyingdog is by far my favorite! I don't want to go to a brewery where there's children, I want adult time. The staff is fun and friendly. Environment is relaxing & the beer is amazing. Keep up the amazing work!!! Only complaint is a compliment... BRING BACK ALPHA 4!
So great tonight! Thanks for the free water... Excelente
Absolutely LOVE this place. One of our favorite (if not our favorite) breweries in the DC/Baltimore area. They can do no wrong when it comes to creative and tasty beers. They consistently have a wide variety of brews on tap (20+), which is constantly changing, so there s always something new to try. The indoor space, while on the smaller side, is always buzzing and has fast service. The outdoor space is cozy as well with fire pits, picnic tables, and a solid food truck.
Good beers and atmosphere. I have to laugh at the people complaining that it is 21 and over only. Do you take your kids to the bar with you, too? Drive them around in the car after having a few? I'm glad they don't allow kids! I wish more craft breweries had the same policy. I am there for an adult experience, not a daycare. Leave your kids and your entitlement at home.
Update for all of the people complaining about not being aware of the 21+ policy.... Check out the main page of the website in the section right under the "Featured Beers" section, entitled "GET TO THE BREWERY & PEEK AROUND." It states, "...Our tasting room is open Thursday through Sunday, but if only if you're 21+." On the "Visit" page, under "THE TASTING ROOM," it lists the hours and then "21+" in bold.
Next time, when you want to visit a facility that makes and sells products that can only be legally sold to those 21 years of age or older - instead of assuming, being disappointed, and leaving negative feedback - make sure said facility's policy allows those who are not at least 21 years of age on the premises before you go there.
Couldn't even get thought the door before being told I could not bring my 2 year old on the beer tour. If they want to keep it 21 and over, that should be advertised more so parents don't waste their time driving here.
Great taproom with a large selection. Even if you've had a bunch of their beers in stores and bars, there are a few unique beers on tap here that are very enjoyable. The staff was helpful and friendly and there is plenty of outdoor seating for nice days. The drive from northern VA was a little long but worth it!
Friendly staff with great beer. I love all the seasonal brews they do. No one under 21 allowed so beware your kids will not be allowed in. Fur babies welcome!
Staff was really friendly, and the facility and beers are great. My only nitpicking issue is with the food options. Food truck was good, but I think the brewery would benefit from an availability of snacks at the bar -- not sure if permitting allows that.
Love this place, great atmosphere and the beers always cold and staff is very friendly!
A good tour and tasting afterward. A must see in Frederick.
Great tour, beautiful brewery, & worth a drive no matter where you are visiting from! Beer is exceptional! Top 5 best breweries I've visited!
Fantastic brews and ambience. Their available house draft selection rivals almost any brewery I have ever visited. They also offer free tours to provide an overview of their brewing process, which is a fun addition for those looking to have a more educational drinking experience. They often host events several times a week so check out their site for info on those.
Went to an event there.... Cops wanted to hold on to my Benchmade knife ( given to me by a friend). Event gets rained out ( no refund), forgot my knife... Phoned in and left a message.... got a phone call weeks later from the guy that coordinates security there..... He says sorry, don't know where your knife is... So basically a off duty cop stole my knife. Classy Flying dog.
Definitely a must visit whenever your in the Frederick area, a great selection of beers for a reasonable price. They usually have seasonal beers on tap and some special ones you can only get here. They partner with local food trucks on weekend so there s almost always food on site next to the beer garden. Come and try and flight and make sure to go on the tour.
Locals approved :)
They let literal animals in their establishment but you're not allowed to bring your child!
By far the best brewery in Maryland. Great beers and great staff make this a go to destination in Frederick.
If your are in the Frederick, Maryland area and want to visit and great brewery this is the place to stop. Staff are very knowledgeable about the beers on tap and very friendly and helpful. The place was hoping but the staff handle it like pros. If I'm ever back this way again I'll make ever effort to stop by. I love in Connecticut and it turns out they sell their beer there and I will be buying flying dog beers.
Took a tour and enjoyed it. Love getting the tastes along the way
