I think anyone who is on the fence about spending their money here should highly consider it. This was the most incredible dining experience I could have ever asked for. I surprised my wife and took her here and she was absolutely floored by the experience. We will remember our Flagstaff House visit forever, and hope to be back again soon.

This restaurant was truly an experience! They brought out a large array of different dishes, course after course, plenty of chef specials (thank you to the chef) and excellent desserts. The entire experience overall was around 3 hours, but we had a very large group as we came here for a work dinner. The a la carte selection was definitely very interesting but we opted for the 3 course meal. The food was all very delicious, but all things considered there was an element missing for me. Not to say that this anything other than an excellent establishment, I think I was just missing the 'wow' factor, personally. The service was very attentive and offered us palate cleansers and other meal enhancements throughout the night. Definitely a great stop to make for an evening in Boulder!

The views are stunning. If this place was a Taco Bell, it would be my favorite Taco Bell based on the views alone. But it's much more than that. The food is interesting, delicious, well prepared, and served with well rehearsed precision. This is a dining experience not to be missed.

I hosted my son's rehearsal dinner for 82 people at the Flagstaff. It was beyond my wildest dreams in how successful the evening was. Everything was perfect - the view and ambiance awed the guests. The food was incredibly delicious and the service was outstanding. I can't believe how well they handled our large group. I received compliment after compliment from the people who attended. In addition to the evening itself being extraordinary, Annie was a delight with whom to work while I was planning the event. She was responsive and attentive and made sure every detail was perfect. Thank you, thank you!

You will be impressed by the magnificent view, but what you will remember is how delectable the food and wine are. The Flagstaff House has been the benchmark restaurant by which Boulder's fine dining scene has been measured for over 40 years. Chef Mark Monette and Chef de Cuisine Chris Royster combined talents render any efforts to recommend specific dishes comical, because no matter what you order the tastes will leap off the plate and into your mouth. The only advice I dare to venture is to go early or late, in hopes of getting a table along the wall of windows.

The most outstanding part of our experience was the service. It was almost like a well executed production with each part getting it exactly right. We never had an empty wine glass, the food was paced perfectly, staff was kind and professional and anticipated our every need.

We were able to get a reservation, sadly we couldn't sit outside because of rain, but the staff was able to get us a table at the window :-). A shout out to our Bartender Andre, who is able to make me a gin drink with "summer thyme" flair. The food was, as promised, very lovely, creative and delightfully delivered by an excellent staff. The only thing I would have asked for differently would have been to have additional options besides the set menus.

Beautiful views and incredible service. I especially loved the hors d'oeuvres served as little surprises between dishes.
The lamb chops were incredible and soft. Sea Bass seared crisp with a citrus flavor.

The quality of the service and the food is beyond compare, everyone seems to agree with that. What I love most about this beautiful place is the energy. The spirit of generosity abounds, from the "compliments of the chef" goodies to the take home blueberry loaves, the sense of being cared for went way beyond, above and beyond. They really have it figured out!

The most outstanding part of our experience was the service. It was almost like a well executed production with each part getting it exactly right. We never had an empty wine glass, the food was paced perfectly, staff was kind and professional and anticipated our every need. Additionally, the setting is stunning and the food interesting and unique but not bizarre. There is something on the menu for everyone.

Five stars for the ambiance and service. Four stars for some of the food because the portions were too small. The duck was very delicious and paired well with salmon cakes. Flag Staff house really goes above and beyond. It was the best place to celebrate my birthday

The absolute best fine dining experience I've ever had. Spent 4 hours there on a date with my girlfriend enjoying a 7 course meal and it exceeded my expectations. If I could afford to eat there several times a week I would! Absolutely incredible chefs, servers, great presentation and fantastic bartenders! If you want an amazing dinning experience in boulder the Flagstaff House is the place to go!

Of course it was fantastic! Top notch service. Delicious food and beautiful views. It's the little extras they continually add throughout the experience that really makes it special. Who could ask for anything more?!

A very high end restaurant above Boulder. I went here for a special occasion, and the service was great. The view is incredible, especially at night since you can have a view of all of the lights in Boulder. While I really enjoyed my meal, I thought that all of the courses aside from the main course were incredible. The main course was only average. If I were to go back, I'd probably spend more time picking out good appetizers and soups and salads. The service was top notch and the palette cleansers between meals were good too. My favorite two dishes were the lobster bisque soup that is thai inspired, and the cheese board. The extensive drink list on the ipad is a nice touch, but unfortunately it doesn't have the best user interface or design, and it's hard to share with others at the table if they are trying to each get a different drink, and not share a bottle of wine. I'd recommend the restaurant reconsider this app, or provide a separate drink menu for drinks that aren't wine.

First time at Flagstaff. Staff was amazing. Views were gorgeous. Very over priced for food that was just good not amazing and every dish was extremely salty. Took a long time to get each dish.

Try before you die!
I was last here 35 years ago, finally had a chance to return with my wife. She has several food sensitivities which I advised upon reserving a table and staff were well informed throughout and very careful to check every step of the way.

I'm pushing 60 and find waaaay to many restaurants serve gluttonous sized portions leaving me feel stuffed and bloated without room to 'enjoy' a dessert. However Flagstaff just nailed all the portions sizes and after dessert we left feeling satisfied, not over fed.

If you're really wanting something special, try the S'More dessert - it's more than a dessert, it's a show which will leave your SO wide eyed and very happy - just have your video running when they serve it.

35 years ago I visited Boulder the first time. My biggest memory was the Flagstaff. I'm glad 35 years later it is still a very special experience

Fantastic! Delicious menu and a beer and wine selection to fit anyone's average or exotic taste. Hands down, most observant service I've ever had. Always on the ball for when you need something, to take away used dishes and silverware. I never waited more than a minute to refill my glass or to wait for our next course. If only I could afford to eat here more often! Worth every penny!

The most fancy, elegant, sophisticated, experience I've ever had. The $300 dinner was worth it. Went there with my fiance and cried because I had never experienced anything more elegant. The food was amazing six different dishes. All of my senses stimulated at once it was amazing.

Beautiful drive to an amazing location with incredible views. Our group did the tasting menu with the wine pairing. Everything was prepared perfectly. My favorite part about eating at restaurants like this is to learn about the ingredients and preparation but the staff, although courteous, was not very knowledgeable. Most of the courses and pairings had very little explanation.

Highly attentive service, unique food, lovely view. Not my cup of tea as I am not accustomed to elegant dining but if you enjoy fine dining, this place is for you. Very pricy but definitely an experience that is worth having at least once.

Flagstaff House is located on Flagstaff Mountain and has BEAUTIFUL views of the surrounding mountains and Boulder. The interior is romantic and intimate.

We did a 7 course chef's tasting menu that was absolutely amazing from start to finish. We loved every on the menu and this was a great way to experience as much as this establishment has to offer.

The staff were all very attentive and kind. My water glass never even approached being half full.

Thank you Flagstaff House for an amazing meal and evening, it was a privilege!

The views from this mountain top restaurant are without compare. There is a balcony for drinks and huge windows for views. Truly a remarkable place for a special occasion. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area. The food was also really great. I had a very nice steak during my visit.

Went here a few months ago and the Flagstaff House is easily one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in my life. It is a bit more expensive than a typical restaurant in the neighboring town of Boulder; however, every penny is worth it.

I absolutely recommend calling ahead to reserve a table with a view, window side. As the Flagstaff House has an immaculate overview of Boulder and Denver's night lights, and they do fill up fairly quickly.

If you have any food allergies trek your server and they will accommodate the many courses you receive. Personally I have a milk allergy and the chef made several unique appetizers, which were all complementary, in between courses as well as a post meal dessert sampler.

If I could give The Flagstaff House 10 stars I would. Plus it has a great name after one is the best towns in Arizona if you ever make your way a bit Southwest.

Visited Colorado for my 30th birthday. Spent hundreds of dollars on a meal to celebrate. Ended up with food poisoning and spent the weekend sick in my hotel room.

Spoke with the manager who was defensive and disingenuous. Absolutely unacceptable for a restaurant that claims to be of this caliber.

I always vote Flagstaff house as Boulder's number one restaurant. The food is delicious, the wine recommendations spot on, and I love the amuse-bouche in between courses. When you go make sure you plan to eat your dinner during sunset so you can enjoy the lovely view.

Ambience reminded me of the country club from Caddy Shack. The food was good and the wait staff friendly but the kitchen was clearly overwhelmed.

There was a long gap between the second and third course. When we finished our bottle of wine while waiting for our entrees we were asked if we wanted to order another bottle rather than simply being given another bottle for free. Additionally when we were served our entrees they didn't notice that neither my daughter or I had a fork and we sat for a bit with our food getting cold waiting to get a waiters attention.

The food was good, the wine list long, the views great but at the price point I expected a bit better service and delivery.

We had a wonderful meal for 3 people on a lovely outdoor patio with fabulous views of the Great Plains from our mountainside table. From double amuse bouches to a small loaf of zucchini bread to enjoy at home, everything was beautifully prepared and nicely presented by a team of skilled servers. Of particular note was the perfectly cooked lamb sirloin and shank. Altogether a memorable experience.

Gorgeous restaurant & incredibly polite staff! We arrived early (4:40 for a 5 pm res) for our reservation and were seated right away. Finally got our first drinks 20 min after arriving. Our table was void of drinks & food the majority of the 2.5 hours we were there. The second course fell flat- the black truffle dish. At 6:15 we finally received the third course- there was a full hour between. So, I ordered another drink- took forever. The manager was notified, so that round of drinks was on them. When you are that upscale of a restaurant the food, timing & drinks should be flawless.
Finally on the way out, it's freezing outside, waiting for Valet, it would be nice if there was a heater out there. Where the valet pulled up our car was pure ice and dark. We left very disappointed overall.

The Food: I think this is what blew everyone's taste buds! They have a fresh farm to table routine and so everything served was fresh and perfect to the T! The lamb rack was oh so amazing - just perfect and I highly recommend it! The salad was great, and so were the vegan baby carrots! Everything was epic! +1

This was a quality restaurant with excellent food ...

This was a quality restaurant with excellent food in a unique location. I will say that we made our reservation for a special occasion weeks in advance and requested a table next to a window, but that request was not honored. Considering that everyone in the restaurant was sitting next to the window except one other table, I found it odd that our request was not honored. In fact, we were the farthest table in the restaurant from any window. This was disappointing. Both my husband and I each had the three course meal and every course of mine was excellent. I will say that my husband had a bad first course and that his Italian appetizer tasted burnt and I tried it and it was awful. That was the only miscue with the food. They are great at providing complimentary food throughout the meal, so tiny appetizers, a bread sampling, and tiny desserts at the end, and take-home bread to boot. The service was fine but overall, the meal was agonizingly slow. I understand and enjoy stretching time to enjoy a fine meal but there were incredibly long periods of time where we had no food on the table. It took a very long time for them to take our order at the beginning. Obviously, the location is quite unique and the view at night is pretty, but the ambiance is dull and quiet, so it left something to be desired. All in all, I will say it was an excellent meal with polite service at a highly unique location, but it was not the best meal of my life. Next time, we will go to an upscale Boulder restaurant with more life and energy in the center of the city.

To far

Staff was friendly and accommodating, not pretentious. View spectacular day and night. Had no reservations but there is bar service and ample comfortable seating there. Wine selection very good. Food expensive. I would stick with meat dishes next time as fish was slightly overcooked, served tepid. Soups delicious, imaginatively flavored. Would go back.

We've been holding our holiday celebration/party at The Flagstaff House for the past twelve years or so. We hold it in their small private room (The Vintner's Room) so, admittedly, we're not getting the typical/average dining experience. However, having said that, the combination of outstanding food, excellent service, wonderful atmosphere, willingness to accommodate special requests for our event, and, of course, the spectacular view of Boulder (see photo) keeps us coming back year after year. In the more distant past we held it at a number of other restaurants but, since "discovering" The Flagstaff House we've had no reason to go anywhere else.

There are, however, two caveats I should mention. First, The Flagstaff House definitely fits the old saying "You get what you pay for.". Or, to turn this on it's head, you pay for what you get. Depending on your means you may want to budget for your dinner/event ahead of time. I know I do. However, to me it's well worth it!

Second, in the past couple years The Flagstaff House has changed it's menu format from a more-or-less traditional format consisting of a "First Course" (20 or so more-or-less appetizer like items), a "Main Course" (15 or so more-or-less entree-like items), desserts, and other miscellaneous items. The new format is available on their web-site so I won't say much other than that of the two overall options (the "Three Course Menu" and the "Chef's Tasting Menu") the The Three Course Menu is most like a conventional menu but only has about 20 main items vs. the 35 or so on the older menu. I preferred the older format but Your Mileage May Definitely Vary. To each his own.

The bottom line is still that The Flagstaff House is a truly exceptional place to go for an outstanding dining experience!

Outstanding service from the valet to the very end. Every person we interacted with was very professional and always focused on making sure we had the best time. The food was excellent, and everything went so well together. Definitely recommend the four course meal, and enjoying a few glasses of wine...which the staff are more than capable of making sure everything pairs well for you. I was really impressed with the nice touches. We were celebrating two special occasions and the menus were customized for both occasions. We also received lots of culinary treats between courses that were fantastic. Overall this is the place to go for special occasions. It was such a treat to go here and experience the flagstaff house. It s not cheap, especially if you like wine, but for a special occasion it s money well spent, and well earned by the entire team at Flagstaff. We will be back again, and highly recommended this place to anyone looking for a great culinary experience.

They're back and as great as ever! Thank you Flagstaff House for another great experience. Clearly they've taken the Covid-19 regulations to heart and made our dinner not only the delicious adventure it reliably is but added a welcome over abundance of precaution. Their pastry chef, their sommelier, the wait staff, and of course the chefs, all on point. I cannot recommend them enough to anyone looking for the best dinner experience in this new and hopefully VERY temporary age we find ourselves in.

A very nice place to dine. The food is well thought out and delicious, and the wine pairings are excellent. The service is top-notch. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a fine-dining experience. Every dish from the oysters and tartare to the wagyu beef is well thought-out and presented. The view is stunning. You do have to drive along a winding road to get there and back, so make extra sure to have a designated driver.

Yes, the 5 stars are warranted and not just for the views, which took a back seat to the absolutely delicious meal and well above average service. Every bite we ate was seasoned, cooked and plated perfectly, the portions were surprisingly quite large for each course, and the chefs samplers and the loaf of sweet bread they sent
us home with made this a 6 star experience overall. The price/value equation is perfectly achieved here.

I went with some friends on a Saturday evening. When we were seated we were left alone for an extended amount of time (5+ mins) with no drinks or menus. It was slightly off putting but not a huge deal. We all ordered the tasting menu. The highlights included the pork belly and the wagyu. Both were excellent and some of the best things I ve eaten. A couple of the dishes were just plain bad though. The fish and chips was BEGGING to be salted. I thought it was just me at first, but others at my table noted the same thing. It made the dish bland and unenjoyable. Not the kind of mistake I d expect at this caliber of restaurant. The Asian noodle dish was also bad, it was flat in flavor and felt like it wasn t thought through. I ve had instant ramen that has tasted better. Hurts to say, but it s true. Everything else was good but not great. Fortunately, the service the rest of the night was fantastic. Overall, it was a good but not great experience.

My husband and I came here for our 1 year anniversary and it was amazing! Our server Taylor was so amazing and was happy to answer any questions we had about the food. The sommelier, James was fantastic and knowledgeable. Really words can't express what a great place this is.

After 30+ years in Boulder we finally came in for our anniversary. It was an exceptionally pleasant dining experience; the staff were all very friendly and attentive, and the food was fantastic. It's certainly not cheap (prices available on their website), but it was easily the best dining experience we've had in Boulder (and maybe anywhere).

Enjoyed a birthday dinner. Definitely a place for special occasions. Visiting Boulder on vacation and treating myself. It is worth it to enjoy a meal at the Flagstaff House. Courtney was wonderful, as well as the other staff that assisted.

Dessert was great, we had the creme brulee and it was OUTSTANDING.
Service was EXCELLENT, really think we got the best table in the house right on the corner facing the city lights of Boulder. The staff was a joy. I can't wait to return to have a full dinner!

Otherwise, I want to return. The food was excellent and the wine very fine (I am a wine writer). The waiting Staff were superb. This is a rare ambience as well. I always recommend the Flagstaff House. My bad experiences are not their fault but just a fluke. Hopefully I can return for a positive experience.
