Perfect location for a day's rest and dense evening charm obsolete perfect comfort
Love this hotel, great staff and fantastic food especially the afternoon tea.
Dreadful service. Find the brilliant French girl behind the bar. Otherwise you won't get service.
Certainly a great hotel if you like old castles and palaces. For me on a business trip, the hotel was not very suitable.
In general, the hotel could use a few renovations.
We visited the hotel for a special birthday celebration with our extended family. We had a wonderful weekend and the hotel staff could not have done any more to ensure we enjoyed our stay. They were very helpful, friendly and accommodating, especially Hugh and the other staff in the Mapas Restaurant who went out of their way to make our saturday evening meal a great sucess. The hotel is extremely family friendly, luxurious without being precious, and well situated to the village and beyond.Thank you everyone
Fantastic food and the staff are wonderful, but the room (at least the one I stayed in) was extremely outdated and in need of a complete revamp. Bedroom in dire need of painting and a big crack across the ceiling. The sink in the bathroom is all cracked and all the paint is crumbing on the ceiling, with some wet rot visible in places. On the second day of our stay, the bed was made by the cleaning staff, but no clean towels, no clean glasses or bottle of water, bins weren't emptied etc.
Was expecting more for the price, but I suppose there could be limitations on some of the issues?
Lovely afternoon spent on a Sunday chilling on lovely comfy sofas having afternoon tea
Beautiful hotel and near many great places, excellent
We had a lovely short stay at this hotel. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable. The extensive lounge area is well provided with comfortable chairs and good service is provided there with light food and drinks. The reception staff are very helpful both before arrival and on arrival. Four stars only because the corridors and lifts need renovation.
Had many visits over the years - was disappointed when arrived this time, came in on aircoach, arrived 11-45pm, two gentlemen behind reception desk watched me wrestle with large suitcase up the steps ! Otherwise as usual a very pleasant stay.
Probably the most helpful front desk of any hotel I have stayed. Everyone is very friendly and can offer great insight to things to do in the area. Gym doesn't open before 7 but is a great gym for a hotel. Great walking paths in the area as well.
Very nice place with lovely staff. Good amenities on-site as well (restaurant, bar, pool and jacuzzi, gym). Stayed with RCI and must say our apartment was spacious, cozy and clean. Had a magnificent view on the garden too. Just a very short walk from Killiney Hill Park which is a must see and Dublin downtown is easily reachable by train. Strongly recommended.
Very nice hotel and timeshare apartments with access to the hotel's range
Second visit to hotel & as good as the previous year. Will be back again next year
Used to love eating there but the menu has changed again and very few dishes are acceptable for myself and my companion. Not gonna go back anytime soon...too bad as we were regulars
Went with a party of ten for afternoon tea about four months ago, our table was a bit dark but there was plenty variety of small cut sandwiched
and cakes. Lots of teactoo. It was a pleasant family reunion ,not lasting too long and I believe most of us left feeling reasonably satisfied. It was a quick rather than a leisurely experience which, I believe we had to book for in advance,Service Was patchy.Good free parking reigns outside the door,
Stayed here a few nights when visiting Dublin area. It was very nice place. Rooms were clean and spacious, bathrooms were newer and beautiful. We had dinner at Mapas and the food is good there.
Beautiful location, especially with sea view from your room. Rooms are dated, smelled musty, carpet needs to be cleaned. Staff very helpful and attentive. Well worth the extra $ to include breakfast. Food was great. Food in bar was good too, although service was slow. Highly recommend the nearby hike. Walking distance to train station. Uber is non existent in Dublin. Taxi's only.
We weren't sure what to expect from a hotel that calls itself a castle, but we were very happy here! The entire interior from the lobby to the halls on each floor are ornate and really charming. The staff are very friendly, and the waiters in the restaurant were superb. Each of them incredibly friendly and accommodating, the chef himself was friendly and went out of his way to make sure my vegetarian needs were properly met, and he made me an AMAZINGLY delicious dish. The entire experience was very easy, very lovely, and we'd stay here again for sure.
I would like to live here. So nice. Great place to stay.
Hotel is lovely food is great, one or two members of floor staff had an attutude problem the day we were there ill put that down to a bad hair day. Overall 3/5
Really like this hotel the staff are friendly the food is grate and very good value considering how close you are to dublin
Great location, lots of parking, lovely food, nice staff but you need to be patient to make your order and pay as they are quite slow, mainly because they are very busy.
Very poor staff and made to feel unwelcome and out of place
Good meeting rooms and facilities. Have never stayed over or eaten here. There's an air coach that leaves from outside in the car park which is convenient
The Fitzpatrick castle was amazing. It s not too far from Dublin so the location is great. The staff was exceptional and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was pleasant and were always available when we needed anything. The Dungeon Bar has really good food and drinks so check them out if you have the chance. We are looking forward to staying here again on our next trip to Ireland.
When open ' this is an amazing place. Very helpful staff and delicious food.
Usually so busy they forget you're there and often mix up whatever you asked for when they remember
One of the best Hotels around.
Beautiful grounds and surroundings.
Staff are can-do people. Keep Hotel jobs here.
Thanks to all staff.
Charming castle with interesting history and a stunning setting
Just returned from a fabulous stay at the Fitzpatrick Castle hotel.
The check-in staff were super friendly and helpful, as were all the staff that we encountered throughout the hotel. We dined in the Mapas restaurant on Friday night, and they made every effort to accommodate our group of 5 even though we hadn't made a reservation. Delicious food too, and along with the pleasant surroundings we had a lovely evening.
It's a short stroll to Dalkey village with all it's pubs and restaurants, and direct link into Dublin city by Dart.
The health center with it's gym, pool, steam room and sauna were also much appreciated by us.
The rooms were good, perhaps missing air conditioning, but the bed was amazingly comfortable and the bathroom more than adequate for us.
Breakfast was generous and presented in a light filled room, and the staff could not have been more accommodating for us.
Overall a lovely stay, and would certainly recommend to anyone visiting Dublin and the surrounding areas.
A lovely place to visit, stay or hang out for a drink or cup of tea or coffee
Beautiful and spacious rooms. The only reason that I gave the location a 4 was because there is nothing else nearby; it is a bit of a drive to the hotel. Having said that, it was good to get away from the chaos of downtown Dublin. I would highly recommend staying here!
Was there with a movie company, looks impressive from outside
Beautiful old hotel. Our suite was perfect, wit stunning views across Dublin bay.
I am the owner of Secret Ireland Tours. We bring groups to Ireland on a regular basis and we always try to stay at least one night in this great hotel. I cannot say enough good things about this accommodation and the staff. The food is top quality too! They go above and beyond to make my clients feel welcome and special. Sandra is very good at her job and is always accommodating. I will continue to bring my clients here .
So fun to stay in a castle and experience tea. Nice accommodations and good food.
It's charming, accommodating, touches of luxury with friendly staff. Food in the Dungeon was excellent
There is not 1 bad thing I can say about this hotel. It was one of the coolest places we have ever stayed in and we were so bummed that we only stayed for 1 night. The room is so comfortable and the view we had was breathtaking. The restaurant, delicious, library bar was so fun, we closed it down that night. Everything was lovely while we were here. HIGHLY recommend.
On arrival Receptionist was very in differant and not terribly friendly. Room was dissapointing. Cold when arrived bit got radiator work8ng.Bed small double with quilt that did not go over both sides. I bed cushion for 2 people. I shortbread biscuit for 2 people and we had to looking for tea/sugar as only coffee on tray. This room cost 153euro per night without breakfast. I have stayed in far better 4 star hotels that cost a little less than this stay. Would not go back
Strengths: location and view of Dublin harbor. Great restaurant. Weaknesses: age of the structures, breakfast ok but not up to par
Was there for a confirmation and the service and food was excellent. They treated each table individually and it was a lovely experience
Was in the dungeon bar, service was so slow, we asked what ciders they had, was offered hieniken. Service was slow
Nice and quite place .lovely vew.and frindly staff.
Cozy and comfy. Good food and good service. Super nice toilets! Informal.
Amazing wedding venue and hotel, will definitely be back!
Cost enough hotel with good food. A little dated in the decor but nice enough all the same. Food is nice in the dungon too
Great sea room view. Very attentive staff and good winter warmer deal today x
Please reconsider before you book a room at this retirement home. It is not Dublin, it is not Ireland, it is the epitome of a retirement home. You enter the lobby and it smells of cafeteria food, the elevator takes you up to the narrow hallways where trash and laundry is scattered next to doors as you pass by. This place is very rundown, base boards peeling away from the walls, wallpaper falling off and mold everywhere. Do yourself a favor, pay the extra money and go somewhere else.
Very nice. There was a swim lane, a bar and a grill restaurant. The rooms were a bit worn but everything was there what should be available. In some rooms you have a view of the sea. You could reach almost everything on foot.
Very well!!
Beautiful location, Library Bar itslef & Staff in the bar a highlight, Room was very small & not in great condition along with fittings & fixtures been quite old fastioned and worn, actully one of the worst rooms I have stayed in at or around the 260/300 price point however admittedly view from room one of the best especially in Dublin.
Mapas restaurant was fine & food ok but notting great hoever priced as such so thats fair.
Breakfast setup was very disorganised and staff poorly trained in this area.
Nice for afternoon tea but a little pricey for what you get
Beautiful Property. A Well Maintained Castle. Romantic atmosphere. Nice front gardens where you can have your coffee, read the papers and simply enjoy the ambiance. Simply Beautiful.
So this was by far the only disappointment on an otherwise magical trip to Ireland. The room was literally 10x8, and 2 people couldn t fit in the bathroom at once, and the bed was a full ( for 2 adults) top it off with a view of the roof and it was truly the ugliest room ever. The elevator sounded like it was on its last legs ( we actually took the stairs because we were worried by the sounds) and we were on the 5th floor! The lobby floor was springy in areas ( like we were walking over carpeted plywood) and the outdoor patio area off the Dungeon Bar consisted of some cheap plastic chairs and tables. I would not recommend this hotel.
The hotel needs a update on the inside as you would think that you have just walked into a nursing home!!!
Food was served cold sent it back it returned no better, asked for salt and pepper never came to table. We got a drop of vinegar. So so disappointed
Nice rooms, homely, friendly staff and super breakfast
From the outside it looks like a castle, but it's just a hotel. Although with better facilities, but still dust does not belong in the room.
Good food in the restaurant.
I've stayed at better and I've stayed at worse. The staff were friendly enough, the breakfast was passable and the room was comfortable however the water pressure was laughable. Turned the taps on full and barely got it to drip. I was served whisky from a chipped glass and while sitting in the restaurant I had to get up myself to get a waitress to take my food order. The hotel however was clean and the location was great. It's right beside some really nice walks and a stones throw from Dalkey town's collection of great bars and restaurants.
It is absolutely beautiful!! Old school charm with modern amenities! Excellent service, and a great area to walk around!
Unfortunate start to our stay.'Twas minus degrees outside and there was no heat in the room.Radiator was not working.Staff member tried to release valve but with no success.A dimplex heater was left but either it wasn't functioning correctly or I didn't understand its working with net result no heat.Additionally the coffee machine was broken and a replacement had to be brought.I spoke to duty manager,Sandra next morning. She was pleasant, understanding and efficient.Problem was solved and compensation made on our bill.Additionally, bath layout is difficult for anyone with limited mobility.Aside of the first nights mishap,a pleasant, friendly hotel and I would return.
Most impressed with the staff at the hotel particularly the receptionist who was so so helpful to us at a difficult time.
The hotel and the catering are first class.
We would be more than happy to visit Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel again.
Great family break in beautiful setting, staff lovely and helpful, family rooms brilliant size, beds very comfortable and room well equipped. Food in mapas restaurant was lovely, slow service and slightly limited menu a little disappointing but food made up for it, highly recommend the mushroom sauce for steaks it was divine! Breakfast was excellent, buffet warm and fresh and filled quickly, staff were lovely, older gentleman (sorry don t remember name) made my daughters stay special by taking time with her and her dolls who also came for breakfast! Thanks for a great few days.
