My husband and i ate here on jan 1,2016 and the food was awful. i had grouper with potato hash and collard greens. The grouper was raw in the middle and overcooked on the edges. If that wasn't bad enough they had a very strong acidic sauce over everything on the plate. It was so overbearing I couldn't taste the potatoes or the collards. I called the waitress over and told her I could not eat it and she asked if there was anything else that I wanted and i said no just take it off the bill. Now since this restaurant is listed as an "upscale" restaurant you would have thought that a manager would have come over to see what the problem was. Well I guess not as no one came so i guess they don't really care what the customer thinks of their food or service just as long as they pay the price and put money in their pocket. We also had a "cup" which was really more of a large shot glass of shrimp & lobster bisque and there wasn't a piece of shrimp or lobster in the so called soup it was very thin and very salty. We paid the bill but since they don't seem to care for their customers comments i will never be going there again. on the way home I was reading their reviews and wished that I had done that before going as there were many bad reviews.

After traveling 10 hours, finding a relaxing, enjoyable place to drink, eat and unwind was #1 on our list. I have to say, our dinner tonight, was an excellent dining experience.
The food was wonderful. The service was exemplary (thank you, so much, Steve). The atmosphere is lovely and being surrounded by family made the evening perfect.
I highly recommend taking the time and heading over to The Fish Market. You won't be disappointed.

Service, ambiance and great food. Look at this mahi-mahi dish and know it tastes as good as it looks. Five of us ate there last night and all had amazing fish. Appetizers, lobster mac n' cheese and shrimp were fantastic. The she crab soup was a 6 out of 10 for me but everything else was a clear winner. We will absolutely return. Recommended

I have eaten at the Fish Market 3 times in the last two weeks due to Vendors giving presentations. Steak and Risotto were very good.

To be as upscale as the restaurant seems to be marketed, there are a variety of small neglects that stand out. I posted 2 pics of the condition of the menus given to me for my anniversary... tears and handled as it was, the pricing remained top-dollar.

I assure you... these were not intentional stress marks such as new furniture has.

Tasty entrees, bland appetizers

My girlfriend and I came here for their $35 restaurant week special. The atmosphere was pleasant. We say at the bar. Our appetizers, octopus and fried oysters, were nothing special, but our entrees, duck and salmon, made up for it.

Not bad. Not spectacular. Not worth the hype.

Not bad. Not spectacular. Not worth the hype.

Though my citrus shrimp wrap was delicious, it was overpriced. And my friend was not impressed with the tuna salad.

Though they accommodate (read as "have highchairs") for small children, you're better leaving junior at home. I did not feel my well-behaved toddler was really welcome, even during a low-traffic lunch. And he may have been why our server rarely checked back with us, even to refill drinks.

My party of 8 went for lunch to celebrate a birthday. We made the decision to go to Fish Market around noon and immediately made the reservation. When we arrived at 130, we were sat immediately. The hostess and waitress (Mrs. Soon to be Resch) were amazing. We let her know we were on our lunch break so instinctively she took our food orders as she was taking our drink orders. The food was fast, fresh and delicious. We were in and out in an hour. We enjoyed the Crab Cake sandwich, Shrimp & Grits, SheCrab soup, Salmon cake salad and more. I had Grilled Salmon with Jasmine rice and Orange sauce with steamed zucchini squash and onions. It was divine! I cant wait to go back to try their sushi. Just judging by the taste of everything thus far it will be AMAZING! Thanks again for great service.

Very pleasant spot. Southern charm exterior. Outdoor seating. Had the Shrimp and Grits for lunch. Nicely done. Creamy... not spicy. Smaller shrimps than I d expected... but plentiful. Service was okay. Would eat here again and recommend it. One more thing... parking is a breeze... plenty behind the building in the parking lot. Easy in and out.

It is quite beautiful on the outside with a quaint fountain and garden area just in front of the entry. Parking is a snap and free. The interior is clean even if just a bit underwhelming. The staff from greeter to waiter were super friendly.

The four of us split the meat charcuterie which had a tasty assortment of meats, cheeses, crackers. The wedge salad was good. From the trout, to the grouper and accompanying sides, the food came out hot and tasted very good. I personally tried the Cioppino and the portion and the variety of seafood in it was good. My only negative was the fact that it was very salty. My only real knock is that for some reason, they dont serve sushi on the weekends which I don't totally understand. So if after you see the menu and think that's what you may like to have, try it out Mon-Thurs night...

I would go back again and reccomend you give it a try.

Mediocre is the best description...

This was my third visit at the Fish market. Call me a slow learner, but I believe in second (and obviously third) chances. The reviews are very misleading. Is it because people simply don't know any better ?

First time was the Sunday brunch. Unimpressive. Second time, I had sea bass that they decided to ruin by deep frying it.

Yesterday was Thanksgiving "special". The food was prepared without imagination or creativity and its taste was... mediocre, to put it kindly. No fish. I guess the market was closed.

Our waiter was nice enough, but totally oblivious. Our coffee was never accompanied by a spoon, no refill ever offered. The dessert (inedible by my standards) didn't come with hardware either, which I considered a blessing.

That's really too bad. This place could make a superb gourmet place. If only the chef had any imagination.

After having had the very worst Thanksgiving dinner - so far, but I am old and had many - this was my last attempt at the Fish market. The glamorous reviews won't foul me anymore.

Is it weird that I like their lunch menu better? Don't get me wrong, the full dinner experience is great, but just give me a crab cake salad and I'm good. Also, the side room is great for events!

My wife and I decided to stop by for dinner on a Saturday night. No reservations. The maitre'd told use about an hour and half; we were in no hurry. We went to the bar and had several drinks and an appetizer. After an hour and 40 minutes I check how our table was coming along. The maitre'd acted offended that I even approached him without our table being called. At this point 1 couple was waiting at the door. I returned to the bar, after waiting additional 15 minutes both my wife and I walked to the front to check on our table. When I stated if you don t have a table we are leaving they sat us right down. The wait staff was fine, both our meals where cold and took way to long based on what we ordered. I will not be returning.

I was there on 8/4/18 with sisters nice place great service only complain I had the lemon garlic jumbo shrimp that claim to have clam hash in the dish, you have to look hard for it and you still might not see it... Misleading so why say you have it in the dish. On the upside other than that the dish was good. Would have gave you a 5 if it was for the ghost clam.

I've frequented Fish Market since moving to the CLT area in 2015; however, my most recent experience has made me do a complete 180 with whether or not my horrible experience was a fluke OR if customer service has taken a turn for the worst. Though servers can have off days, there's nothing like paying top dollar for food - only to receive stereotypical fast-food service. After talking with my friend, I came to the conclusion that the young man's section was about to be "closed," and he was not too happy to receive another table.

The rundown of the "What Would You Do" experiences we had:
- Server told me I couldn't receive my sweet tea "just yet" because all of the glasses were dirty.
- We had to request bread for the table
- When we requested additional time to think about what we wanted, our server hovered ... almost believing that he could will us into ordering ASAP
- Though we wanted a leisurely dining experience (hence why we chose Fish Market), our server was not in that frame of mind at all.
- We had to research certain sushi ingredients because we were told inaccurate information about certain dishes (i.e. a sushi roll that included lobster apparently had RAW lobster in it ... not cooked ... only to have another server tell us it was "imitation lobster"); management confirmed that the lobster is in fact cooked

Please note, we did share our concerns, distaste with the manager; though we didn't expect anything to be comped, we were slightly surprised that we were not extended an offer for a free appetizer, beverage, etc. for our next visit. For this experience, because of how bad it was, I'm rating Fish Market a 2 out of 5; way too much money being spent for not consistent customer service.

We recently had dinner at the Fish Market on Sat Aug 17 and absolutely loved it! Everything from the apps to the sea bass was outstanding. Would love to give a huge thank you to our server Kelly C. She made our night extra special and was very knowledgeable with the food and wine selection. We will definitely be back!!!

Wifey and I like coming here on our rare date nights. We prefer to sit at the bar, order cocktails and a couple appetizers. I've been here a few times, but still haven't ordered dinner. We just really enjoy the apps and drinks.

I have to say the food was amazing! Our group had the scallops, fish & chips and steak. Customer service was excellent and Jamie took great care of us. Best part was feeling like we were sitting on a veranda of someone's home. You must give it a try.

The office gang (10) decided to have lunch at the Fish Market in Blakely. Great choice. They sat all 10 of immediately and took our drink orders. The lunch menu had great variety and prices were very reasonable for lunch. I had the SheCrab soup and a wedge salad. It was good but I have to say I wish I had gotten the gumbo. Somehow we had gotten an extra bowl of gumbo at no cost, so I was able to sample -- it was delicious just enough heat. I will return with wife for a dinner experience.

Came here with work on a Monday with coworkers and the food was so fabulous I came back that Friday for dinner. The Chilean sea bass is by far the best dish but you can't go wrong with any choice!!!

Great mature dinner date or celebration location. The decor is elegant and yet not stuffy. Great selection of food (beef, poultry, seafood, salads) and a large assortment of appetizers.
The location is Central to a lot of restaurants, but this one is different. Not quite what I'd call "trendy" but very nice.
There's not much to keep a child entertained here.

My girls and I went out for brunch today. We decided to go to The Fish Market in Baxter Village in Fort Mill. We originally were going to go to Famous Toastery in Tega Cay but they had a 45-minute wait. We called The Fish Market and and they had no wait. When we walked in and got sat, we were literally the only people sitting on the inside. Things started off great. The Fish Market has a beautiful ambience and I was excited to try their food. We order a mimosa carafe a because they had it on special for $20. Our server informed us that we were just waiting on a carafe to become available for our mimosa carafe. I found it strange that they would be having a special with a shortage of the carafes and it was like maybe 5 tables sitting outside. We then noticed that table beside us that got seated after us received their mimosa carafe. It was definitely ours. Our server came over and apologized, she said another server stole our carafe and gave it to their table. She offered to bring us six individual mimosas, it was three of us. She said that a carafe usually equal 6 mimosas. Now that I do the math, that would be silly because the mimosas were $3 a piece if ordered separately. That means we could order 6 mimosas ala carte and only pay $18 instead of the $20 "special." We initially agreed because we were so thirsty and had been waiting for about 10 minutes or so. Then, she brought us the drinks annnnnddd the more we thought about we were like no and we changed our minds, we wanted the carafe. When we told her that, she snatched up our mimosas from in front of us. She didn't even ask us if we wanted to keep them. I found that quite strange and quite rude because I knew they could do nothing but pour them out and again it was $3. If she would have charged me $3 for that separate mimosa, I wouldn't have even been mad. It's the principle. Make it right, make up for your shortcoming. We spoke to the manager when she brought out soup and she offered a dry apology. I also ordered French toast as an appetizer to share with my friend. It was $8. It came out and it was literally two pieces of bread cut in half. It wasn't thick like Texas toast or challa bread. The taste was okay but it was cold. At that point, I was just happy to get some food. The she crab soup was delicious and when we finally got our entrees everything was hot and very tasty. I say when we finally got our food because three other tables that sat down after us all got their food before us. So all in all, the food was good but I was very annoyed with the service. I'm not sure if I would give them another try or not. Oh yea...the carafe ended up making like 10 mimosas

Wonderful restaurant, top notch service and cuisine. Perfect for a date with the wife or a family night out. Their steaks are excellent. I find myself trying dishes I would not normally opt for, only to be pleasantly surprised time and time again. I think I will head there tonight.
