One of a few places in NYC where you can still see "art films" (excellent films that are unlikely to be blockbusters). (Labels don't apply!)

Very nice cinema. Good sound. Seating pretty much standard fare these days (ie , on the smallish side). Good location with plenty of eating/drinking opportunities very near by.

Wonderful and very special place. You really feel that you are in harmony with the events, whatever the movie, due to the commitment to the rules. I advise everyone to visit each section so popcorn has another taste. Although the prices for the high quality and the beautiful appearance in the architecture and designs are consistent . However, it is a little expensive compared to the Google store.
I would give this place 5 stars but I always feel like the staff are a little too much to be around. They aren't really friendly. Having said that, it's a great arthouse theater with fantastic showings.
Such a cool vibe at this theater! I went for a friend s film, but I m definitely coming back. Everything on the rosters looked good and it really had a genuine community feel to it.

They always have great movies of importance in the art of cinematography as well as historically. I always enjoy going there and the theaters are small enough that there's no panic for seats. It's also easy to get to since it's right on the #1 train at Houston.

My home away from home; thank God for the Film Forum. I grew up going to the Regency and Thalia revival houses and Film Forum captures the spirit of those bygone, black-and-white glory days.
Very impressed with Film Forum. The was excellent. "Miles Davis, the birth of Cool". The snacks very reasonable price. Just will see me again. Speciality independent films. Luv Film Forum.
The seats in the cinema are amazing and I'd visit your theater again. The screens are huge. The visual and audio sounds are obvious. All the ticketing workers are very kind to all the customers and polite. They gave us pop corn for free. I had fun watching the film!
Old world movie watching experience. Recommend sitting in the front half of the theater as the screen was small, and many rows of seats.
People like Janik Zikovsky need to go to a multiplex in New Jersey. Film Forum is for film lovers!
Watch some Korean dramas here some times. Nice theaters. Well kept and clean. The plaza it's located has other shops and eateries. I know school food is in this plaza. One of my faves! They also have an adjoined parking structure with many levels but of parking but it takes sometime to get in and out of. Park on the street if you can find a space or uber if you don't mind paying.

Movie selection is good. I went there after the renovation, and the seats were so high that I cannot rest the entirety of my feet on the floor if I want to recline on the back. I m 5 6 and I m sure there are smaller people out there. It s UNCOMFORTABLE! Edited: Ok so I went back to see the Carol Reed double feature (which, by the way, was mind-blowingly good) and took a relatively front seat in auditorium #2 (previously I went to auditorium #3). That seat was lower and comfortable.
The staff is friendly. Popcorn is good, but it has too much oil. I don't know what other movie theaters in NYC are like, but this one seemed small to me and, besides, there were columns on one side that could interfere with the view on the screen.
I enjoyed this theater location, this is located in a little plaza where there are many shops surrounding the theater, it's great because you can walk around before your movie starts, I can't wait to comeback and watch their foreign movies! I enjoy very much !

Good independent theater. They show movies no one else would and the prices are reasonable. The seats are rather small though. The sound is good, and so are there screens. There concession stand had a good selection of coffee drinks and baked goods.
Film Forum is a terrific place. It's friendly, laid back, and for the most part has great films. (I left my cell phone in the bathroom there once, didn't discover it until they were closed, and it was in lost and found the next day.) Most importantly, they show classics and foreign films that are hard to find elsewhere. They have good coffee! Their food is decent -- FRESH popcorn, as opposed to what we get in so many theaters with stadium seating (which, yes, is nice). John Lahr autographed my copy of his new biography of Tennessee Williams there after a screening of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof earlier this month -- I know of no better New York City experience.

Great programming and convenient online ticketing, since they only take cash at box office. Printed tickets get scanned at the machines near the entrance, just in front of box office. I always enjoy the selection of cakes/pies available at concessions. One of my favorite place to see movies in the city.
Far and away the best place if you love movies. Terrific movies: independent, foreign, classics, documentaries, and retrospectives. Fair prices with very good membership deals. Auditoriums are clean, comfortable, and the lobby is comfortable, welcoming, and full of the smell of fresh popped popcorn.

I got to see one of my favorite movies and it was great to see how in demand tickets were. We did have to stand in the standby line outside to get tickets, but the staff were nice and accommodating.

Movie theater playing the older classics and deeper films. Lots of international movies and tons of people go here so you are always watching with a crowd!

Tight seating, small screens make for a fairly uncomfortable experience. But they do show unique, occasionally interesting movies.

A really great movie theater for independent films. It won't have the big blockbusters, but every time I go I get to see really thought provoking cinema. It's really nice to go and learn/enjoy new things I usually wouldn't otherwise from the films played here.
I like to support independent theaters which is partly why I came here. They have all the artsy indy movies you don't get at the big chains. The screen is small and there are too many seats. If you don't get there early you could be sitting in the back and then you wont see anything. They also have super bougie food. They don't even have butter for the popcorn. Don't get me wrong, if you're not into butter thats all fine and good but I want butter on my popcorn when I go to the movies. I think it's not too much to ask to have the option.

Film Forum is a smidge of old New York hanging on. This isn't a Times Square multiplex. The theaters and screens are small, but that's where you'll find excellent first-run independent and foreign films, as well as classics. They often include Q&A sessions or introductions by people associated with the film. The staff is friendly and they serve popcorn without fake-butter coloring and flavoring. Locals with an ID NYC can get a free membership, with which movies only cost eight bucks.
