Saw the air show. Awesome time. Moody Air Force Base did a really good job to help put it on. The only drawback was the parking. Plenty of parking but took us 45 minutes to get out of there. That's what happens when you have 20000 plus people

The officers in the visitor center were amazing. Very kind. Our sponsor was a very good young man, polite, and very respectful. But the security forces officer was TERRIBLE. MEAN AND NASTY TO OUR SPONSOR AND TO US!!!! He needs lessons in being a gentleman when it's called for. There's a time and place to be hard. Then there's times to be a decent human being. So 1 star is what I give based solely on this one officer's attitude!!! I praise the rest of you ladies and gentlemen. Keep up the amazing work. And God Bless America

Reported to Moody in April 1951 when we reactivated the base after it had been closed for a few years after WW2. Looked nothing like it does today.

Kills people's careers. People who planned to make the Air Force a career get here and end up getting out ASAP. Seems to go across a lot of AFSCs. Standard problems with finance, MPF, and medical.
Amenity-wise, the base is average. Standard BX, best food is at the bowling alley ("The Spot"), and there's a couple non-standard items (paintball arena, archery range, and a couple other things).
Location, there's not much there. Valdosta is fairly "Meh" but it's not horrendous. There's not really anything in the immediate area, but it IS conveniently located, roughly 90-120 minute drive to Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Macon, Savannah. Three hours to Atlanta or Orlando. There IS an airport in Valdosta but it's just a rotator up to Atlanta. If you're not wanting to pay extra for that, you're stuck driving to airports in Atlanta, Tallahassee, or Jacksonville.
Overall, don't put this on your dream sheet unless you are "country". That's the only way you will really enjoy getting stationed here.

I am now 15, When I was 3 I moved there and lived there for about 6 1/2 years...It was a nice place... The only thing that can be better is the Youth Center...It was boring there and not a lot of stuff to do when I was there
