This place is great, your are lucky to be stationed here. To be in one of the most expensive city and have the amenities both on base and off. So stop your wining spoiled brats... appreciate and make the best of want others dream about....You can always go to Iraq....or just get out and try living here in the economy.

We stayed at this facility when it was under the Air Force management, and the hotel rooms were kept CLEAN! The door in the room would not shut unless we lifted it up and pushed. The deadbolt didn't work on the door. The overhead lights in the living room didn't work. We had a pet suite, and you could certainly tell from the odor alone! My husband opened the windows to air it out a bit, and one window tried to guillotine right back down! We set our bags down, went to the commissary and got Lysol and air freshener! After cleaning, I notice the blinds in the bottom floor master bedroom, were torn, and would give full view of the bed, or view of anyone changing clothes.

Moved here in May of 2014. Love this Base. Came from Fort Polk LA.... a dump and anything, well almost anything, would be an upgrade, but this place is sweet. Got the Potomac a block away, the commissary is a couple of blocks the other way, library is literally right there. I lucked out with a good location. Even if your stuck up in Bellevue it seems to still be very nice. Further from everything but still really nice. My husband walks to work at the DIA, and with the track and the paved walkway along the potomac getting exercise is easy. They have an adequate dog park. People are really nice here. The traffic in the DC area is a horror show yet there are ways around it. Some bad neighborhoods but plenty of other options for shopping available. So much to see and do.... really for a small base this is nice. Bigger bases nearby to shop at their Exchanges and Commissaries.. so no complaints so far.

I was stationed here as a member of the Air Force Honor Guard for 8 yrs. I've visited about 30 +/- military installations (mainly AF) and this is concise but superb! Yes it's small, and yes there's traffic outside the main gate. But there's plenty to do outside the gate and the Slip Inn is a good time along with having gatherings at the waterfront in general. Try Malmstrom AFB in Montana, where it's cold/gloomy/snowy +/- 8 mos of the yr and nothing much outside of town. Despicable. So Bolling is a dream compared to many. One of the most historical AF Bases too! Most all the Air Force legends came thru there time and time again. I would live there again in a heartbeat.

It's a decent base. It's a nice, spacious retreat after being in the nation's capital all day. There's not much food-wise, but the Slip Inn Bar and Grille is the place to be during the summer. It's right on the Potomac River, which is nice while walking/running. The housing is another issue, but overall this base is pretty great.

A shining spam-can building hosting the Defense Intelligence Agency is probably the most notable part of JBAB. Though, if you have a CAC (or know someone who does), you can get cheap boat rentals from the slip-in.
