A good spot at waterfront to have a drink, a cigar, a decent meal and listen to live music

#WorstServiceAward Ghastly experience last night, and again this morning.

Place was hardly half full, corralled waiter myself to get a menu, then waited at a table with menu in hand looking directly at multiple crew and being thoroughly ignored.

At around the twenty minute mark, picked my jaw up off the floor and started to leave...this is the exact moment I was finally grunted at if "everything was ok?"

Rang Johannesburg Head Office of new owners Tourvest this morning only to be barked at by geriatric, imperious and snarky sentinel of the phone lines, who was more concerned with being right, than bothering to listen...apparently it is UNHEARD of to speak to CEO or anyone at all in power, as they apparently are permanently "in a meeting"...probably ironically discussing declining attendance.

Then rang sister space Mitchell's to find a Cape Regional Manager, only to have geriatric Joburg's kith and kin phone twin get sarcastically livid when I failed to cheer her up with a hearty "good morning!" greeting.

Flabbergasted how such a once thriving and friendly space has become mediocre, aggressive, overpriced and heartless.

Very, very sad.

Very busy but great band always a great atmosphere. An institution despite so busy we still hot service

I would like to compliment your waiter Lance . He served us yesterday and was super professional .He noticed that we prefer to top up our own wineglasses . gave us a complimentary bowl of chips when we told him that the runner just put our order down on the table spilling some chips on the ground . I think that more of your staff should be like him. Well done Lance

I didn't actually go in to the Ferrymans Tavern on New Years eve as there was a queue to get in and the entrance fee was R150, so I stood outside and enjoyed the music. A waitress from the establishment next door very kindly got some non alcoholic drinks on my behalf.

Great place to take a beer with some friends after work, with this nice view Cape Town Eye :)

The peperiest pepper steak pies around! So good I came back 3 more times during my Cape Town stay.

Food was rather disappointing for the prices they asking.

I had the snack plate. The calamari was chewy with no flavor, the fish had no flavor. The chips were soft and cold

The food isn't even up to pub standards. Awful piece of meat purporting to be a "hand cut" steak. Impossible to cook medium rare as requested as it was so thin. Sent it back and it came back as well done the second time. The upstairs dining area for non-smokers needs a revamp. Disappointing.

The staff is really Fun, the place is beaultiful and the beer is cold.

If live music and a great atmosphere is always expected, then this is the place to be.

So it's a pub ... There's good beer (very good beer), live music, it's loud. The food is ok but not extremely good, but comes in huge portions ..

What a huge disappointment. One of our favourite spots has gone backwards
4 x Eisbein's so dry they were almost inedible
And all this for R168.00 per Eisbein - absolute Rip Off - seems locals don't count anymore

As a Joburg-local, I battle with some of the CPT reviews. If this place was at home, I'd have given them a 1, but Vape Town is slow.

This place is one of my favourites in Cape Town, always a great atmosphere and family friendly even later on when the live music is going and the beer has been flowing for a while. The choice of beers, wines, cocktails and spirits is great and they make a mean spring bock! Always on my list to go to.

Live music keeps the crowd pumped, closely placed tables keeps the vibe comfortable. A small play area for little ones helps mom and dad relax. The drinks are amazing, a large variety, and the food is super tasty. Don't forget the kids eat free deal.

Asking for a non smoking tabel... Only to be put next to a smoking table...

Great vibe with live music on the weekends. Perfect to go for a few extra drinks after dinner or shopping. The cocktail prices are a bit over priced. The space inside is limited. They should open up the bottom area to the outside with stacker glass doors or something to that affect. We have been popping in here for many years now. It needs a revamp! It is long over due

The vibe is amazing, but I did not particularly enjoy our meals except for the chicken wings which were beyond amazing and the portion size just enough.

Bad service, bad food. Food is cold and overcooked and to wait up to 20 minutes for a drink is unheard of. I will never go back.

Traditional Pub - Great place to watch live sports.

A delightful lunch was spoiled by an awful desert. The chocolate brownie I ordered should have been called a lump of dried out charcoal. Very dry, completely tasteless and so hard I had to hammer at it to break it apart. The apple crumble my cousin ordered was a soggy doughy mess. Come on Ferrymans !!! Your deserts are letting you down !!!

Awesome vibe and a great place to witness some fantastic up-and-coming bands. The wait times are minimal, taking into account the plentiful amount of people there at a time. A fantastic place to just enjoy yourself to the fullest. The Nacho's our group had were fantastic and we ordered a second plate. They, along with most of the food is quite pricey, but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. Definitely a place to visit!
