Was quoted 25 minutes for a wait and waited an hour. When we say we waited about 10 minutes before our server came. We ordered drinks and food at the same time. We ended up waiting 35ish more minutes for food. My pub burger that was ordered at medium came back very medium rare and without the bacon jam. The server didn t come check on us at all until we were ready for the check, and that s when I had to opportunity to address the issue. She made no effort to have anything corrected so we just left. Was VERY disappointed.

Excellent weekend brunch spot. Guaranteed to be crowded but still has a cozy atmosphere. Staff was friendly and attentive to detail. Bar seating is first available.
Highly recommend the Biscuits & Gravy starter and the Chik & Waffle meal.

Awesome service. Rustic dining. Expansive portions. Tasty menu items using innovative ingredients. Poblano cream gravy, thick cut bacon, home-style chicken-fried steak. Eat here, you won't leave hungry.

We had a rehearsal dinner here and the food was really good! Hands down the best fried pickles I ve ever had. The waiter was pretty rude, but luckily there wasn t much serving to be done, other than drinks. Go for the food, stay for the pickles.

The blue cheese crab dip is a must have, phenomenal. That said the rest of my food was served cool, not much flavor, the banana pudding desert was a snack pack pudding they bought from Walmart and pored into a dish with vanilla wafers(very disappointing) and the waitress seem to ignore me entirely toward the end of the meal.

Walked in at 11am - only to be told (kinda rudely) that there is an hour and a half wait! But 90% of the tables were empty! We inquired of the empty tables and she said we have people waiting . We only saw a family of 4 waiting when we entered. We left and had four or five other options open and ready to serve us.

Their service was on point. Disappointed tho because they ran out of the braised ribs. I ordered country fried steak and tried the honey butter chicken. Both were cooked perfectly. The pimento fried green tomatoes were yummy. I loved the More

Ordered chicken fried steak, came out beautiful. My plate was FuLL..it was huge! I cut into it 4 times before i hit actual meat. I peeled off just the top breading which was very crispy, and it alone was thicker than the steak. The actual steak was the size of a deck of cards, so thin that 1/2' of the entire edges were like jerky. The bottom bredding peeled off, and just was inedible. I ate 4 bites. The manager never came over, they just took the 18.00 off our ticket. 30 minutes after leaving, i started throwing up. For 6 hours, throwing up and dry heaving, then diarrhea. NEVER NEVER AGAIN!

It was ok... but I think the food could have been better. The bacon and hash brown were over cooked. I could hardly get my fork threw my hash brown. I would try it again but just because they did seem nice and the atmosphere was pleasant. My omlet was very good.

Great place! Stopped by for brunch after the Rockwall Farmers Market (lots of fresh veggies and other items) and had a great meal and service. Wife got eggs, bacon, hash browns, biscuit, and a pancake and loved every bite (strawberry preserves on the biscuit was great). I got the Southern BLT (highly recommend and will get again) which was fried green tomatoes, bacon, and pimento cheese. First time visit, will be sure to return.

I recently moved to the area and my husband, and I often visit different restaurants all over to try out based on reviews. I was excited to try the honey butter chicken. I decided to order to go on my way home from work. It was a Friday and the restaurant had about 2 tables and maybe 5 people at the bar. While ordering from the online menu, some of the items I asked for they no longer served. Why have it on the menu then? The chicken was a flat chicken fried chicken. I just thought it would be actual mouth watering fried chicken pieces. The sauce in the small container had just enough to barely cover the chicken. It was a sweet vinegar taste. You could literally pull off the whole breading which was seasoned okay-just salt and pepper blend I m sure. The chicken itself was not seasoned/brined at all and was very bland. The potatoes had no flavor as well. The corn was good but nothing special about plain cut corn. The brussel sprouts were okay, and I added a little more salt for taste. They cost $6.00 by the way for a side. The biscuit was soft no different than store bought cooked right. Total bill $31.00. Maybe this was just a one off as I have read the reviews. As for customer service, the girl hostess was very friendly. The waitress at the bar was not. She asked my name, sat the bill and my to go bag down on the counter and that was it. I more than likely won t return with my husband as it didn t quite meet my expectations compared to other similar establishments I ve visited. It is possible their other dishes are better according to some of the reviews.

Ate breakfast here with my daughter. We were a little disappointed. They were out of hot chocolate. The hashbrowns were not seasoned. I think my biscuit had been frozen. My daughter hardly touched her pancake and she loves pancakes. The bacon was amazing! I think I expected more based on all the great reviews.

First time eating here! I've seen lines out the door for weekend brunch. I now know why - good food, good prices, a lovely dining room and wonderful service. Will definitely be back to enjoy their lunch and dinner menu. Thanks FC!

Update: came for dinner and lunch recently. Food was great at lunch. Dinner was okay. Had the burger, which was fantastic, and the scallops special which was not. It aS a shame because I love scallops. But at $32 and only 4 scallops served with crispy prosciutto that tasted more like overdone bacon and a lack of sides, I was underwhelmed. Service has also not been great the last few times I ve been in.

I've been here a few times now. It's too pricey to frequent for dinner (went once, and it was worth it!). But breakfast/brunch is pretty fairly priced and the food is excellent. Most recently I ordered the spinach, mushroom, and goat cheese omelet. I added tomatoes just because I like them. It was delicious! The fresh fruit it came with was perfect. And the jelly they put out for the toast is always perfection.

In the past I've also tried the Monterrey omelet which was great. Their pancakes are fluffy and giant and perfect if you want something sweet.

Not bad. Not great either. I had the chicken fried steak, which was pretty ok. The gravy was way too thick and the mashed potatoes and corn were nothing to write home about. Overall, a pretty decent place, but don't expect it to be five star quality.

They messed up my order and did not offer to refill our drinks. My friend liked her meal but my beef omelet wasn't very good. The staff stood in the back of the restaurant looking at their cell phones the entire time.

The chicken raviolis were outstanding. The burger party was overcooked and very dry. I only ate half of it. The meat patty was too thin and cooked too fast and too much. I did not call it to the waiter's attention. The cheese cake was great.

We went to The Fatted Calf for the first time for ...

We went to The Fatted Calf for the first time for a Saturday. Our waiter made a recommendation of the Roast Beef a jus (the best in TX) In fact it was delicious; stuffed full of ribeye and gooey with cheese on a super soft and warm French bread. Big, beefy and yummy and a nice splitter for 2! Fast forward just 5 days later. My husband and I went back tonight to share the sandwich for an early dinner. Wow, what a disappointment!! The sandwich cost more for the "dinner" portion, barely had any meat, cheese was microscopic AND because we asked them to cut it in half and bring on two plates we were charged another $1.50 (w/o being told of the charge) Because there was so much bread and so little meat/cheese (didn't even cover the bread), there was no flavor. When we brought it to the waiter's attention (wasn't his fault...he didn't cook it), he reported back that he had spoken to the sous chef who told him to tell is that it's the same sandwich we had and they didn't do anything different. A) wrong answer. B) clearly not correct. Irritated by the brush off and arrogance of the kitchen, I asked the poor waiter if he had advised the manager of our disappointment. He said he had but that "she is also the bartender" and she was to busy to respond. I'll add that there were only 5-6 tables with diners and 10-12 people at the bar (not a busy night).
Long and short - the food was boring, skimpy, overpriced $35 for 2 teas, 1 sandwich and a side salad) and part of a good restaurant is consistency and at least some level of concern for customer satisfaction and loyalty. The Fatted Calf fell short - off the list!!!!!

Loved the location and and food, fantastic brunch. Seated us immediately for a party of 5 at 10am on a Sunday, service was great and food options and quality were top notch. The ONLY irk was the noise in the back room got loud, however that doesn't deserve a drop in ratings!

The chicken and waffles are by far the best I've ever had. Comes with poblano gravy that gives them a nice little kick. The kids pancakes were huge for $6, our kids will be splitting them next time. Our waitress, Sarah, was extremely kind and helpful as this was our first time going; but it won't be our last. Not the cheapest place for breakfast, but one of the best.

I've honestly had better biscuits and gravy at public school cafeterias. The gravy was bland no taste of pepper or sausage, or anything else really, in it. Maybe that's why there was less than a 1/4 cup of it on my plate when it initially came out. When they say biscuits on the menu they made a type-o with the "s," you only get one. Biscuits halved with a sausage patty, then an egg on top. Like a deconstructed McDonald's breakfast sandwich but somehow even more bland. Not sure what they fry their eggs in. But whatever it is. It doesn't work. Maybe they will fix some things? I won't know. I'll never come back.

Maybe an off day or meal but I didn't experience the hype. The pub burger was better than any chain burger around no doubt but wasn't notable in any way, the fries were incredibly soggy and bland, no crunch at all. The bloody Mary was fantastic and my wife seemed to enjoy her food. Not sure I'll be back, maybe for a dinner experience.

First off, the waiter was really nice and seemed like he was experienced. The look of the restaurant was very gloomy and the lighting was pretty poor. I am sure this is the look they are going for, but its kind of depressing. If you go for lunch, its basically brunch food with a handful of sandwiches and kind of boring entrees.

I ordered the French Dip, which I typically love, only for it to be a complete let down. The portion size is HUGE and they do not cut the sandwich for easier consumption. Instead, you're left to try to slice into the bulletproof bread and fatty meat. Its a mess! Not the biggest issue, a messy lunch is okay if it tastes good, right? Well, the sandwich was VERY, VERY bland. Hardly any flavor to the meat AT ALL. The jus was very bland as well and thick like a gravy. I tried a few bites, but just couldn't get over the lack of flavor in the sandwich. Even with the horseradish and adding salt and pepper. I tried to just eat the fries, but they too were a let down. They were very soggy and super greasy. Overall, not good at all. The waiter was very nice and asked if there was something wrong with my food and when I explained it, he asked if I would like something else. I was quite irritated and on a time schedule, so I did not order anything else. Of course I was charged for the entire meal, $20.00 for unfortunate food I barely touched.

There are better options in Rockwall for lunch and after reading other reviews, I probably wont be back.

The Fatted Calf is the story of a restaurant that has a LOT of potential but doesn't quite get there. The interior is decent but the art deco on the walls is not attractive and doesn't really seem to fit the vibe of the place in general. It's strange because on the one hand it seems like it could be a solid place to have a nice quiet dinner but then they have TVs with football on (not that I don't like football) and it suddenly feels like the place is conflicted between romance and sports bar.

That being said, I had the Calamari and the Braised Beef Short ribs. The Calamari was decent, although there wasn't anything about it that made it stand out from other Calamari I've had. The Braised Beef Short ribs were cooked perfectly and the meat was falling off the bone. The sauce was interesting, it was tomato sauce and horseradish. It wasn't bad but I'm not sure I'd get it again. It was just an odd combo that didn't quite work for my taste buds. However, some may like it and as I said, the meat was cooked perfectly.

Not a bad place to go if Zanata's is jammed packed but I think, depending on what you're looking for, there are other places in Rockwall that are better.

Our food was bland with no seasoning whatsoever. I ordered the biscuit sliders and it just crumbled into my hands. Bad customer service. The huevos rancheros were served on a tostada instead of tortillas. My friend was upset at the mimosa she had, asked the manager to refund her or get her a dr. Pepper and he just stared at her as if she was crazy. Didn t came back to refill our water glasses.

Really inconsistent here. When it's good, it's good but no consistency at all. Seems to have not great management because the staff is too busy playing around giving each other piggy back rides to give decent service.
