La Bonne Auberge used to be one of my favourite re...

La Bonne Auberge used to be one of my favourite restaurants, however, I think we may have visited for the last time. The food and service in La Bonne Auberge used to be exceptional. On this visit, however, both were poor.
The service felt impersonal and lacked the standard that you would expect of a high quality restaurant - and that you used to receive.
Correcting a drinks order that was taken incorrectly was very much seen as a hassle, despite this having been their mistake. There also seemed to be a lack of care or attention, and I'm unclear if staff had a particular knowledge of the dishes on the menu, but it certainly did not seem so. I don't know if all of this is down to restaurant budgets, and they now regularly use agency staff, but whatever it is, the service really should be better.
The food was also a disappointment. I've previously had some of the best meals I've enjoyed in Glasgow at La Bonne Auberge over the last 20 years, however, the food on this visit was average at best, and is the main reason we will be unlikely to look to go back. The menu itself comes across as slightly dated - which is fine, as long as the food is of an exceptionally high standard. It was not. Only the starters that our group had were of the standard that we expected, the mains were all very average, and the desserts were, on the whole quite poor, which led us to question how much of them was made from scratch, and how much was frozen components.
Overall the experience was poor, and topped off by the fact that we were placed at a table in the conservatory which they had earmarked for a promotion, and which was setting up as we dined, and starting as we finished. Why we weren't sat elsewhere was another thing which boggled the mind. Adieu La Bonne Auberge, it was nice while it lasted.

Casual Brasserie Dining, authentically French. Popped in to meet someone and just had tea today. Lovely service and decent sized pot of tea. Able to charge up my phone. Immaculate Loos too. Handy for Buchanan St Bus Station and Buchanan Galleries.

We visited this restaurant as we were given a gift...

We visited this restaurant as we were given a giftcard from a family member. Prior to our visit we had accessed the online menu and selected what we wanted to order. On arrival we were presented with a pre theatre menu while other diners were presented with an a la carte menu. There were no items on the pre theatre menu which we had picked from the online menu. We asked for an alternative menu and we were told the items on the a la carte menu would take much longer to prepare and there was a reluctance to give us this menu. After justifying our need for the a la carte menu, it was given to us. This process left us feeling undervalued as customers as we appeared to receive a different level of service compared to other diners. This really left us feeling annoyed and meant we did not enjoy our time in the restaurant. Also my son was given a chipped glass it was replacement when pointed out to the member of staff, and also my pate has oxygenated all the way around the sides when it was served to me so had been lying out for a while standards were not met very disappointed underwhelmed and upset that we were stereotyped as soon as we walked in and only offered the set menu unlike the other guests.

Very limited choice of food on the bar menu and not cheap. Definitely don't pick the burger, lukewarm and tasteless. Two of us sat at a table for four tucked in the corner as that was the only table available. MAJOR PROBLEM - it's an access in and out for the other part of the restaurant and the passing traffic was unbelievable!! You had to keep either moving your seat or standing up (even while you are eating!!) for people who couldn't be bothered to go the 'long way' round. Complained to the waiter who very kindly got us another table and said he totally agreed and he wouldn't sit there!! For what we paid it was not worth it and will certainly tell everyone we know this.

Popped in here this evening for drinks before catching bus home.
Staff were so lovely, loved the decor. The Sauvignon Blanc was very nice and when the server brought my Mums tea over with a piece of tablet, I joked about getting a piece with my wine. He was so nice and brought me a couple of bits. Will defo be back, not just for the tablet though, would love to try the food.

We had good service and good food at a reasonable price. Restaurant did well on providing information on gluten free options. Only criticism was that not much space between tables but a minor issue all things considered

When booking our office Christmas lunch we contacted the restaurant to see if we could use more than one taste card for a group booking. The lady on the end of the phone checked and assured us this was okay. After informing our whole office the the venue La Bonne Auberge then refused to accept the taste card for groups when we called back the next day to finalize the booking. They even admitted that 'someone' had told us it was okay but were unwilling to move on their position. We decided to book elsewhere

I had my hen party here in the private dining area, the food was absolutely fantastic, so much so my grandmother wanted to book our family meal here to celebrate her 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Would definitely recommend La Bonne Auberge for any special occasion you may have.

Went to this lovely place last night and thought it was really nice. I had the fish starter and let's just say it wasn't Poisson! The other half had chicken liver pate which was exquisite. For the mains I had bacon loin which was lovely too and the chicken my partner had was nicely done with lemon and herbs. The wine list was good - we opted for the malbec. Staff were excellent - friendly, helpful but not overbearing. Only one criticism: I didn't feel the menu was especially French. Definitely go back though.

Waiting staff lovely however we opted for the daily "special " which was lamb steak. It was served medium rare( ok for both my sister and I) however it was tough, unpalatable with a strong taste of vinegar. When we complained, the feedback from the chef indicated that we were ignorant of how a lamb steak should be cooked! We were offered a free desert, however we were both still hungry for our main meal therefore declined. We would like to go again however we feel that the chef should respect the feedback from paying customers and respond appropriately.

Food is delicious and absolutely recommend the food, especially the French onion soup and braised beef, and place itself is beautiful and friendly staff but the service can be very poor with the kitchen especially for a busy night. Table of four sat at 6.30pm and everything done by 8.45pm was shocking. Huge gabs inbetween starter and main. Although we appreciated deducting all the drinks off the bill which helped our cost and made your review 3 instead of 2, but we were almost late for our cinema showing which started at 8.30pm. Lucky theres 20 minutes of adverts! Dont go if you have a pre booked cinema date!

French restaurant near Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow. Excellent food and good service. Wide selection of wines. Ideal choice for pre theatre dinner as it's opposite Royal Concert Hall. Booking recommended as it gets busy.

The food was very good. This is the second time all 4 of us have been together but each time their bar has no tia maria. Tia maria is not an uncommon drink. If we do go back and there is no tia maria there's a good chance we wont be back which is such a pity
