The main thing is not there, four trips to faro in two months and two failed planes with landing of suitcases and consequent delay for the airline Etc ... Etc ...

This airport is a disgrace, absolutely dreadful!
Boarding pass at various stages. Airport can't cope when busy. Tails ever !!! Missing flight for incoehenre in control zone!
Avoid this airport.

I know a lot of airports. This is by far the most modern! Very pleasant design of the catering areas, so that you can sit down here.

There is water from the machine for only 1!

Also had a rental car and everything was great in this regard and built very logically.

An excellent airport that has recently been modernized. Doing fine in the winter season but whether they are built on the summer crowds?

For 190 people is olny 12 spaces for seat. And u must sit or stand 30 min waiting for boarding. Water is probably most expensive in Europe. 2 euro cheapest for half liter still basic water probably from tap

Standard small-medium sized airport with the usual overpriced goods ( 2.50 for a single packet of walkers crisps at one place). Things to note are:

2) Outbound tip: get there with plenty of time to go through security. The queues are usually long due to the airport only having 5-6 scanning machines - and then there's border control too.
3) Outbound tip: you may be stood outside for some time whilst waiting to board planes at certain 'gates'. Something to bear in mind for those who may struggle with the heat.

Absolute nightmare. Huge cues, no organisation. Could only drop off luggage an hour and a half before boarding time which is ridiculous and made going through security etc even more stressful as we were so short on time. Most expensive airport I ve been to as well.

Ront point leading to Faro airport, we see characters each looking at the sky, perhaps impressed by a plane passing over. A beautiful artistic work. Smooth traffic to the airport and the beautiful beach of Faro and the campus of the University of Algarve.

Probably the worst airport I have visited in my life :
1) The architects of the newly built terminal have achieved an acoustic tour de force. Thanks to its very specific shape, indistinct chatter from passengers is turned into the most annoying random noise.
2) Going through the first security check, there is no priority lane for pregnant women (but the IS one for premium passengers)
3) Once inside the gates terminal, there is only a miniature restaurant, with incredibly high prices (4 euros for a bottle of SuperBock, the price of a 6 pack at local supermarkets), incredibly small number of seats, overwhelmed personnel etc.
4) If your plane is delayed, and you do not have your gate number, there is pretty much nowhere you can stay

Nice clean efficient airport. Good selection of food outlets and duty free. Easy pedestrian access to the rental car park. All the staff we spoke to were polite, friendly and fluent in English. One of the nicer airports I have visited.

Easy access and nearby car rental agencies that is great but poor organization ... endless queue ... extremely slow controllers ... no time for dutyfree while we were 2 hours early without checked baggage. An organization to review !!!

Amazingly efficient airport that could teach the world how to do it well. They were well staffed for the load resulting in short queues everywhere except Costa coffee but that's not their fault!

***Update June 2019***

***Update June 2019***
Changed from 1 to 3 start as the airport is much improved since last visit. However:
1) Considering the airport is in Portugal, you'd think a newly refurbished airport would have air conditioning! Instead, the entire airport is stuffy and uncomfortable

2) Once through security, there's a serious lack of seating!

***Previous review***

Faro Airport is a SHAMBLES! Nowhere to sit, people treated like cattle being led into a dead end. Kids had to sit on stairs while waiting as there was nowhere else. Extortionate prices for water taking into account there was no air conditioning during one of the hottest weeks of the year. Used to be a perfectly good airport but has been ruined by the recent 'improvements'.

Very poor organisation, lots of queueing for security and passport control (just six security scanners in departures for what must be thousands of people passing through the airport each day). Also long queues to buy food and water airside. Particularly bad on water given that its hot and you have to ditch all liquids. There should be somewhere to refill water bottles/ buy cheap bottled water.

Return to France on July 22, recent and pleasant airport, the two check-in counters open on time, several shops and cafes to eat, very well directed to the security check which is fast but serious, duty free and other shops then waiting room for boarding with still the possibility of buying a small snack for those who would have forgotten and plane ready on time, nothing to say it was perfect!

We were positively surprised here. Security Check went much faster and was better organized than at some airports in Germany. Due to the small size you also have short distances. Very uncomplicated in itself

As at almost all airports, you also walk great distances here. But at this airport it can happen that in an otherwise empty departure hall you are forced to travel 6 times the distance because of the cordon off as if a crowd is being controlled, while only a few people are present. Simply ridiculous and customer unfriendly. The staff are very friendly at the airport. But they don't think here.

Poor organization

Poor organization
Passengers do not have enough information.
Yesterday there were 324 flights from Liverpool, Dublin, Newcastle, Bristol, all leaving at almost the same time. That is, chaos installed, passengers for 4 flights. Not knowing where to go. No conditions, air conditioning off. Finally the door to Portuguese tourism .... a shame!

No issues with check-in at Faro Airport. Despite running at full capacity, the security section was the slowest part of going through to departures, with a lengthy queue not helping many of the families with young children pass through without some issues. I didn't have any issues with staff, though contact was minimal. The airport is kept clean and is easy to navigate.

My sole complaint is with the price of goods at the retail units in the airport. Basic fast food meals which typically cost around 5.00 elsewhere are charged at extortionate prices at the airport, with the same applying for other foodstuffs and products which are stocked at well over double what I expected to be charged. It's clearly a ploy to encourage tourists leaving the country to use up their Euros. As a piece of advice: Stock up on food before you reach the airport if you plan on eating during your wait.

It's a shame that a largely neutral, or slightly positive experience has been marred by the retail aspect of the airport. However, it is not at all a reason to avoid Faro Airport, just a cautionary warning.

Small, clean, well arranged, pleasant prices in the restaurant. At high capacity up to 30 minutes waiting time at the security check. There very friendly and helpful staff, as the German would-be police can learn a lot

Great staff however the food on offer is terrible. They are unable to cater for gluten-free apart from extremely overpriced salads, my partner had pizza which tasted horrible. The Lounge is also a disappointment due to food

Which is a big surprises Faro is fantastic

Phenomenally organized the airport! Such ordnungu not seen even the most renowned German airports. Security check runs almost perfectly: instead of the typical chaos, with each tape positions are designated 3-4. When a green light, can be one of these positions to take and calmly spread out. You support the whole process with service. Besides, at the airport in Faro is a lot of good and clearly labeled toilets. You can easily see them from afar - not at every airport is standard. Pubs and shops - like a typical airport.

I don't know why people are so dissatisfied. We flew from here on a Saturday with a lot of traffic. The signage was very good, the queues at the check-in were tolerable, the security check very well organized. Families with young children were sorted into their own short queue. Despite the stress, all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was over 30 degrees outdoors, the air in the airport was bearable, but not too cold either. The chaos at Munich Airport on the outward flight was definitely greater. There they were not prepared for the start of the vacation.

If you enjoy queuing then you'll love Faro airport! Also agree about the cost of food. In the unlikely event of having enough time before your flight to actually buy any food it will cost you an arm and a leg.

I have never seen a Costa coffee as bad as this. Burnt coffee. We complain. They offered new coffees, but again burnt.
Boarding gate almost 30min late. However, I decided to buy a chocolate in the machines, there it was stuck. No one came to resolve the situation after asking 3x.
This experience at 6am is a joy and I won't even comment on the hygiene of the bathrooms.
