Terrible! Only as a traveler to Ireland or GB (area B) has access to the shops and dining options in area A you go more or less empty and has no possibility to get food or drink except for a few vending machines and an overpriced baguette stand. That is absolutely unacceptable! Area A is also massively overcrowded while in area B everything is free and the shops do not make any sales.
Small airport, no revelation. There are shops, bathrooms, well marked. Nothing else is needed there.

Neat and spacious. Again very well taken care of for a safe environment in particular of the covid 19. Cappucino and bottle of spring water 6 euros. I thought it was not too bad.

Summer 2017 caution! Faro is midway through a major remodelling and expansion / long overdue upgrade to cope with seasonal passenger volumes. Therefore the terminal is a building site. It's being managed fairly well but there are limited air-side facilities.
Tips: (1) bring your own sandwich to use up those also bits in the fridge and thereby avoid long queues at the available facilities after security (2) if you just want to sit down somewhere quiet go straight through passport control as there is loads more seating with access to a Costa coffee with much shorter queue, and to vending machines.
This is going to be a big problem during the peak summer season in 2017 so come early and come armed with food.
The renovations are coming along slowly. There still isn't a lot of shopping to be done but the addition of some half decent food options flight-side are MOST welcome. They now have Burger King, Costa and what looks like some kind of Italian theme thing. They had Paul's in the terminal but can't remember if they also had one after security. Anyway, you can now get hot food and a drink which is a MASSIVE improved on the last 2 years I visited. Just don't expect to do any designer shopping just yet.
I should also mention that they usher families with children to the front of the paper queue whether you're arriving or departing. That was welcome.
Great airport, only the check in was very slow and the security check was very busy and it took a long time. We were at the airport an hour and a half in advance and we should not have been there much later.
After our airport experience there I don't think me and my wife will go back to Portugal no announcements for when the gate opens the gates can change found the airport very disorganised
Don't count on the eating point bring some food! Prices are ridiculous. At least double over price, not enough sitting places and it literally takes forever to get food, might make you miss your flight ;-)
We arrived late at our destination not because of the airline but because the airport had no transportation for passengers between the boarding area and the plane. On top of that they left us inside the bus I still don't know why. They gave no explanations or an apology. Anyway.

Me and my husband have just arrived at faro and went to the passport check together, they said we have to go individually unless we were married, confirmed with him we were and to check our passports but he got aggressive and told my husband to stand behind the line despite the male and female couple in front being able to do it together. We landed and got to the check in at 19:45 on the 4th of june. For a liberal country I am quite shocked
Whoever designed this airport,he obviously never goes to the toilet.as soon as you're near to some of the gates,you won't find a single restroom
It's a 1980s airport with a modern face. There's hardly anywhere to sit whilst waiting, huge lack of power outlets to charge up/get work done, the food area is tiny for the amount of passengers coming through and horribly overpriced (one of the most expensive airports I've been to, 4 for a drink out of the machines), the check in staff are extremely slow and don't move non checked in people from bag drop locations. I understand it's Portugal, but you need to be efficient and speedy with the amount of travelers coming through.

Quickly in and out of airport after arriving this evening, didn't have to walk up and down stairs. But they didn't want form we'd all printed off and filled in.
Airport not the most modern and under construction but a very nice home and especially a great organization, very fast, it changes France!
Terrible organisation at this airport. Queue after queue after queue. Took an hour and 30 just to go through security on a normal day. When you have kids in tow, this is not acceptable. It puts you off going there in the first place.
Typical of most Airport's quiet lots of shops closed
Outbound transit through check-in, security and passport control was very smooth and stress free, however yet again having been called to the boarding gate and having had passport and boarding cards checked we were then stuck waiting for an airport bus to transport passengers to the aircraft, there were further delays waiting for passengers needing assistance to be brought to the aircraft. Eventually took off 20 minutes late. Delays at Faro, either inbound or outbound, are invariably due to the total lack of any organisation air side.
Super small, poor flow of people and (it could have been the day) very grouchy service. Customs rather wanted to throw us in jail, frisked my girlfriend 4 times because they assumed she was carrying guns or drugs (as if...) and there was only 1 available restaurant for HUNDREDS of people departing. We waited for almost 2 hours for a slice of pizza..
Horrendous queues on arrival busy time of year i know but the airport should have been able to cope without customers having to stand for so long.

Not many people in winter
Small but smaller than expected for the population. Public transport from/to is a disgrace in off season. So say mid Nov to early Dec- gluck gettin a bus or train to your exotic hotel on the coasts as only city buses are available every couple of hrs and my bus to Portimao was only at 12pm or 6pm. Inbetween was 2.45 pm or 6pm from Faro bus station.
My route from Portimao to Faro airport via uber ( 65) passing highways.... (fell asleep cos of nothing to see) but only took 50min which felt like forever.
Tourist desto yes it is but they really need ot improve on the food options at the airport departure alongside the most important thing- availability of a variation of transprot options. Not just taxis, uber, private transfers or hotel transfers(also same price as uber etc).

I think Faro is nice, clean and has free wifi, you have to walk to the plane and there is no transport, at least not in my case.
Worst airport ive ever been to. Queues for everything, nowhere to sit, food at inflated prices that made the eye water (12 euros for a burger king meal).
Parking at the end of the runway .... from here you can very nicely see the planes take off before your eyes .... very special experience ..... very large mix parking where campers can also park and spend the night .... without services .... and on the other hand the nature reserve, and the beach within walking distance ..... A must ....

Had a car booked for beginning of April and for obvious reasons was unable to travel. Contacted Goldcar via an email address before the hire was due to start to ask for a voucher for the value of the hire to use at a future date and despite an automated response saying they would get back to me, here I am a month later with no response. I will not be using them again.
Very nice airport. Due to its small size, you can get anywhere easily and quickly. Well-marked and easy to reach. 2 minutes walk to the car rental center. In the departures a lot of restaurants from the top price and chain stores. Very well-stocked stores with alcohol, cosmetics. Prices are quite good.

Staff is not very effective. Few seats, fewer stores and restaurants after the customs. No smoke area.
Smooth passage. No long waiting, friendly employees.
Possibly one of the worst airports I've travelled through. Narrow hallways, not enough room for the high amount of traffic, "walls" made from sheet metal, and the worst smell of decayed, rotted fish. I understand were on the ocean, but nowhere in the area I travelled smelled as bad as this airport.
New & improved Airport. We had no difficultys going through here. There is a good selection of shops bars and restaurants here. This would be in my top three airports
The only negative thing I'd say is that some of the bars and shops are very expensive. I paid over 10 for a beer, a coffee and a package of crisps in the sports bar. These are shocking prices for Portugal where everything is usually reasonably priced. I still give the airport five stars because the retail outlets are independent of the well run airport.
If you need to take a flight at that airport, run away. It is more worthwhile to rent a car and go to Lisbon. For all the services we went through, the outsourced companies in charge treated us badly. No consideration, even with baby. Obliged to pay for hand luggage at the last minute, since the plane had luggage spaces available. Lack of communication between those involved. Never!!!!
Functional nearby in terms of arrangement of rooms reminds me of Fuerteventura, communication with buses and taxis, better this last option since taxis in Portugal are very cheap, it only receives short and medium radio flights in summer, a lot of British passengers since Algarve It is a clear claim for this type of tourists
From the outside it doesn't look that big. But inside there are two levels and everything can be found.

Edit: just got robbed 4 euros, 2 Euros by the water machine after security and 2 euros by the water machine at gate 320(and someone there complained of the same)
