What a disgrace, massive queues to go through security and anyone travelling to the UK or Ireland shoved into a tiny area with next to no seating. What a way to ruin a holiday!

Spectacular change. Very modern, but very unfriendly workers
The airport has been renovated but unfortunately only for non-Europeans with a nice shopping and restaurant area as for the others an unhappy cafeteria and two small shops. They really take us for cons why this difference all airports have a communicating area ......
All I can is for those of you who fly in the summer season what do you expect?
All airports are so busy they will all have there problems. Kids on school holidays families trying to get away teenagers etc.
I live in Portugal and generally the portugeese are lovely people so respect them and there culture as well there country
If you choose to travel in the peak of the season you will get that from any airport . I have flown many times from multiple airports and that's how it is. Try flying october the weather is still warm and airports are less busy or when the kids are at school. Otherwise stop moaning and just get on with it. It's not the UK
Expensive like all airports.
But great structure.
The airport, after expansion and renovation, really good. Lots of space. Good organization. Unfortunately, it takes a long time to wait for luggage after arrival, which reduces its assessment. The car rental companies' offices are located outside the main terminal to which you have to exit to the right from the arrivals hall and go through a short tunnel. Gas station near the airport.
I've had three encounters where staff have been incredibly rude to myself and other passengers for absolutely no reason. This is a shame as it creates an unfriendly atmosphere and will now be the last thing I remember of my time in Portugal.
We had booked special assistance as my youngest son has autism. We were very impressed with the help we received. We had a member of staff who was with us when going through security and going to the boarding gate. He explained how he would be supporting us and when he would be coming back prior to us boarding the plane. The service we received was far superior to what we received at Gatwick Airport, which was shocking. I hope this feedback is passed on.
Small and well-arranged airport. I have never seen so many dogs in boxes at an airport and heard them squeal.
Bad airport. There are hardly any food & drink facilities and when they do it is ridiculously expensive, 8 euros simple baguette with toppings, outrageous. Do what you need to do here and run out of this airport as fast as possible.
June 2016
Fortunately we arrived early enough. Endless lines before passing security. Once in the large hall, it is impossible to sit down for breakfast or coffee. Far too small for the number of passengers passing through, especially during the holiday period.
Around 2-300 people waiting to get through passport security with only two staff processing. Not their fault but waiting far too long. No queue system or order either
We have been to this airport several times. In 2017, they still came in a nice area with restaurants, a pub, etc. That works - since rebuilding? - not more - in an RF to Germany. Now only a few shops, otherwise only vending machines.
In the other area (you could see through disc) everything was empty.
I can not understand ..
Maybe jmd can explain the meaning to me?
They really need to plan better..lines where too long, and personel way too stresses. I felt sorry for them
Great airport. Bit hectic getting through immigration when a number of flights arrive at the same time.
Impressive, 4 years ago they put the devices for reading passports but they never worked. My beautiful Portugal. Get ready for a horrible wait just to present your passport and enter Portugal. From what I was told, Lisbon Airport screwed up and bought devices to read the wrong passports, so in order not to look bad, it sent them to Faro.
Very clean airport! The new architecture looks very nice and gives a welcoming vibe. The airport runs very well for how busy it is.
Small airport easy to use. Clean. Cip lounge shut though. Some shops shut as quiet at the moment. Also few food outlets shut.
Herded like cattle in a bull pen. inefficient security and ludacris duty free and food prices
Old airport. Without self-checkin. A few places to sit before the checkin area. Not a great impression to call the Algarve airport.
Curious the posture in the verification of the luggage. A pot of 280 grams of honey was barred, however if the suitcase was in the basement there was no problem !!!!!
The cheating, is the right word, it is so evident that you can, after passing this extremely zealous test, buy in the various shops after the check, bottles and everything else you can imagine !!!!!
Theoretically the pot went into the trash .....
Airport without air conditioning, without sockets to charge electronic equipment and lack seats for users.
Modern international airport for the Algarve. After a few modifications, our farl Airport is on a good international standard. Top flight connections at reasonable prices connect the Algarve to the international flight network.
In the airport the service is good, small bars and shops make the waiting time pleasant. The signage and the infrastructure is very good. You can always find one, albeit expensive parking.
Unfortunately for many places in the Algarve like Sagres or Vilareal de Santo Antonio the airport is far away.
Everything well organized, but I miss German on the billboards !!! In Porto it works better !!!
Good but security control is a nightmare. We were waiting for hours.
Very few amenities with places to eat massively overpriced and of very poor quality!
This airport is always too busy, luggage belts breaking down. Not a nice experience at all. Check in far to long to wait and too many queues and long wait times. Too busy at the gates too. Needs serious refurbishment - love Portugal though so will be back again.
This has been by far the worst airport I ve ever been through. Everyone at the food court is beyond rude, they refused to make me a pizza after I ordered and paid for my friends.. this place, and the people are a joke. I will never be back here again.
Disciminatory airport... If Someone travel to UK and Ireland have access to many shops and restaurants, but if you go somewhere else you can not access their shops and restaurants. There is only a place to eat if you travel inland Portugal or other contries within schengen space.
The passport control should be after the shops as it was before renovations...
Bad experience...
Nice and clean place
Very spacious
Signs are clear
Airport nearby Faro city. Ok but free Wi-Fi conection is only 30 minutes.
I come here several times a year and always feel well cared for. Pleasant coworkers :)
Scams they ask tourists to pay supplements for a scratch ... 200 to 300th already two French people in barely 10 minutes on their parking in anger. Real thief
I love this airport. Is great if you compare it with Stanted and just 15 minutes from the city. Have plenty of space, stores. Is great
Couldn't bring my girlfriend through fast track and no lounge access for SAS passangers. Overcrowded in the summer.
NO BURGER KING WHEN MAN FLIES TO GERMANY !? NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! DISPLAY IS OUT.
I'm not a fan. A lot of disorganization may not be the fault of the airport, but of the company I went to. Everything too expensive. I know that in the airport it is expensive but the one in Faro exaggerates.
No problems, very safe, very clean. Sanitizers everywhere. Very organised.
No air conditioning, no safe distance in boarding area
The worst airport ever! Incompetent employees, the access to the right restaurants is only granted to the passengers to Ireland / UK, the rest may be content with two "restaraunts", which offer for 7 (!!) partly spoiled, lapidary and totally inedible baguettes!
The airport is more expensive compare to the cities around, if you have chance shop locally avoid airport charges. On top of this at this moment a construction going on inside the airport with full of dust and massive queues. Never again Faro...
Small but organized. I was in this airport a few days ago, and it's a small one, but organized. I could leave the plan easily, find my bag, and go to the car-rental-area to pick up my car.
To check-in the same. Unfortunately it seems that is not possible to do online check-in in advance in this airport, so we need to be in the airport a bit earlier, do the check-in, and then security and go inside.
I had no delays or problems on my arrival or departure.
The works that they are carrying out and have carried out have improved both access and facilities. For those of us who live in the area of Huelva, it is a BETTER alternative to Seville, due to the speed of arrival and the greater number of flights.
Congratulations Portugal.
Small airport over which most air traffic in the Algarve runs. Unfortunately no direct train connection. Only a bus that goes directly to Faro and a second line that runs 4x per day. In the security area there is no possibility to smoke. Security checks seem to be very good.
Gastro in the security area unfortunately only average. Since the connection to the public transport is so bad I will avoid this airport in the future. (Not least because ground personnel, taxi and bus drivers went on strike at the same time in September 2018).
Food WAY TOO expensive. Also no smoking area after luggage check
New airport is functional and personal very professional and very pleasant.
Pretty nice airport. Even after the security check, there is still plenty of cozy catering.
Terrible!
Very disorganised, big queues and no seating.
Lots of people sat on the dirty floor after paying for food.
Toilets are filthy.
No air con!
How the luggage is thrown around, when unloading, is a joke.
Airport is not big but has plenty of coffee shop etc to sit and eat. Passport control is small so leave in plenty of time to get through. Go through past passport control and there is a Paul's cafe the other side and very quite. Just remember during Covid the lounge is not open, BA does not ofter a voucher or tell you until you are at the airport which is disappointing. Also there is no water fountain to refill your bottles.
Nice with free WiFi. Otherwise not the best airport in the world
Worst time in an airport. The eating area, such as it is, was overwhelmed with extensive snaking queues to passport control. Small corridor out of duty free was crammed with 2 queues of people trying to get to food or passports. My advice is to ignore food, get through passports, it's less crowded on the other side.
Used to be a children's play area, that's gone to queueing.
Very quiet. Quickly off the plane and through customs....nobody wanted the track and trace forms !
Extortionist prices. A small bottle of water is 3.70 and food prices don't change between shops and vending machines. Worst price gouging I've seen at an airport.
The airport itself is fine, considered that it's located in a small city in the south coast of Portugal. We had a bad experience with the rental car: you can pick up there the car on arrival but when you leave you need to return it in a different location, making it very confusing! We've almost lost the flight!
very busy at times but dont not take to long to get though security and passport
After the reform access has become much faster but still does not have good food
The airport was good. The suitcases were there soon after landing and because of the compactness we were out again!
Slow, badly organized, too few toilets, some cordoned off.
Very bad experience in the airport parking. When I arrived and inserted the parking card they asked me for 264, for 3 days. They tried to cheat me. At 12 noon I went to ventanila, where they finally made a card worth 48. I PAID and when I left the window another couple of foreigners had the same thing. Gross.
When I inserted the card to leave the park, the machine told me to pay 1.8. Anyway. Frightening.
Was in this airport last night to say it is dreadful is an understatment there was no where to sit everyone was on the floor there was no airconditioning and with all those people in a confined space it was roasting I take into account the renovations but there was no toilet paper in the ladies no excuse
