No issues with check-in at Faro Airport. Despite running at full capacity, the security section was the slowest part of going through to departures, with a lengthy queue not helping many of the families with young children pass through without some issues. I didn't have any issues with staff, though contact was minimal. The airport is kept clean and is easy to navigate.

My sole complaint is with the price of goods at the retail units in the airport. Basic fast food meals which typically cost around 5.00 elsewhere are charged at extortionate prices at the airport, with the same applying for other foodstuffs and products which are stocked at well over double what I expected to be charged. It's clearly a ploy to encourage tourists leaving the country to use up their Euros. As a piece of advice: Stock up on food before you reach the airport if you plan on eating during your wait.

It's a shame that a largely neutral, or slightly positive experience has been marred by the retail aspect of the airport. However, it is not at all a reason to avoid Faro Airport, just a cautionary warning.
