We could have spent all day at the Exploritorium. We had to practally drag our 15 year old grandson out after 4 hours. Their cafe is just ok. We caught a ride with a bike peddler to Ripley Believe it Not. It was a fun experience, he was super friendly, and we didn't have to walk. :)

It's really great and accessible to all with informative workshops. However, it is necessary to speak a little English to be able to understand the subject of the workshops.
I love the exploratorium! It was fun and a great learning experience! If you have a fascination of how things work or why things do the things they do then this is the place for you to go. I am very inquisitive about the world and if you are too then this is the best place to go on a day trip. I went with my friend on a Saturday and there wasn't that many children so I was surprised. But definitely worth a go if you've never been.
One of San Francisco's jewels, and not just for kids! If you're planning a visit to the area, I recommend spending a full day here (you won't see everything, I promise you)! I've been coming here for nearly 40 years, since they were located at the Palace of Fine Arts; this location feels more comfortable and sunnier. If you are curious and love exploring how things work, don't miss this phenomenal place. A Citypass allows for discounted entry here and other popular/worthwhile attractions like the Aquarium of the Americas and Academy of Sciences.
Brilliant interactive science museum that lives up to its name, really enjoyed it. Lots of hands on exhibits for all ages, fabulous views outside and enthusiastic staff who were happy to help. We went to see the Inflatables exhibits but spent a few hours exploring. Well worth a visit, half a day ideal, restaurant and small cafe onsite.
Very cool! Especially loved the water "exhibit" showing the tide levels throughout the day, more of an art piece than exhibit if you ask me. Very fun to visit with a couple friends on the weekend, I would say it's a must see if you visit SF more than once
Very neat place with well thought out interactive exhibits. Wasn't too crowded when we visited, it was a little bit smaller venue than I thought, but what was lacking in size was definitely made up for in quality.
Massive! A playground for young and old! Attended an evening event and it's even better with an Old Fashioned! Amazing fresh sushi made to order in the restaurant. Watch that wasabi though!
If you're going to be exploring with kids between the ages of 8-13, make sure you devote around 2-3 hours of time so they can try everything the Exploratorium has to offer. There is SO much to experience!
I would highly recommend this to anyone that cares even the tiniest bit about science. It's a lot of fun and not too expensive. If you're an adult I'd also recommend the After Dark experience. It's nice not having a bunch of kids around. There was a pretty strong college vibe the night I went. Also, they sell really tasty cocktails at multiple points in the facility. Overall, it's just a lot of fun. Fair warning though, 4 hours isn't enough time to see everything if you attend the special event and try the tactile dome.
Fun place to get hands on science. Tons of info inside for all the geeks. Tickets were very reasonable. The outside also have a great lake. I would suggest coming here early if you want to learn everything.
Came here for a private event, and it was a lot of fun! I do miss some of the "worn down" charm that they old location had, but I think that they have done a lot of cool things with this new location, and the views of the ocean are gorgeous. I enjoyed all of their little exhibits and felt like a kid again running around and being fully immersed in the wonders of science. I recommend checking this place out!
They are also conveniently located right next to TCHO chocolate (which has a factory tour and chocolate tasting), so you should couple your visit if you decide to come here!
We only had three hours, but we could have spent many more. The museum draws you in right away, with exhibits that elicit playfulness and curiosity. Things are also beautifully built and educational. We loved it!
We had the range of 11 to 2 year olds, but everyone was engaged and in motion the whole time. Can't do it all, but all was enriching with a science base. Food was decent, but maybe less quality than before and not as good as Academy of Science. It is a great way to spend a winter day!
We went to one of the After Dark sessions and had the best time! This is so much more than a museum, it's hands-on, it's fun and it's educational. We had so much fun exploring the vast space and all the exhibits - there was so much to see, learn and do. I'm not scientifically minded at all but I really enjoyed getting my nerd on and loved how there was an explanation for each exhibit. I never knew science could be so fun! Personally, I appreciated the adults only and relaxed vibe, the neat little pop up bars and the super friendly staff. The guest speaker was great too. Highly recommended - will definitely come back next time I'm in San Francisco!
Very diverse and big exposition with so many things to see. Great with kids! Membership is worth it as it is better to split the visit in multiple times in order to enjoy it at it's fullest!
This is easely an entire dya of fun and me and my partner agree worth the entrence fee. Its fun for all ages and I'd go so far to say it's a good first date place. Lots of interactive things deffenitly give it 3 hours at least!
Fun little science center with tons of exhibits. If you're going with just adults, I'd recommend waiting til the evening when there aren't any kids and they serve drinks.
