You just can't beat this place. Mostly oriented toward kids but fun for the whole family. Plus on certain night it's opened just to adults to let their inner child out. Adult nights they even serve drinks!

Superb learning experience for children and adults alike. So many mini experiments with water, electricity, kinetic energy, magnets. Great games to exercise the brain and promote team work. You would easily need 4.5 hours to fully explore the Exploratorium

Lots of fun activities, gadgets and places to explore. Certainly lives up to its name. If you have ever visited the Discovery Science Center is LA or Orange county, same theme, only much, much more to do.

I took the 6th and 7th graders from The Waldorf School of Mendocino County to the Exploratorium to support their studies in Physics. The staff at the Exploratorium were so helpful and well prepared that it made the experience well worth the long drive. It enhanced their Physics knowledge, encouraged them to develop their own ideas for the upcoming science fair and showed them how fun science can be.

Our three children ( aged 11, 13 and 15) loved the exploratorium. It's rare to find somewhere these days that interests all of them and us. There were so many things to do and we learnt a lot. It's very hands on and very interesting. We spent a couple of hours there, went to the ferry plaza building for lunch...

This is an amazing place with lots of interactive things for folks to try. Unfortunately I went on a weekday when it seemed like the entire San Francisco school district was there. I could barely get near any of the exhibits.

If you are a nerd this place is for you. You can learn so much about physics and science while playing and having fun. It is a great/fun place to bring a date. On thursday nights the museum is open until late and sometimes there are fun events. I went on a regular thursday and it was not crowded at all... one of my favorite parts was to sit down with some kids inside the museum and have them perform magic card tricks.

Highly recommended. A huge place with lots of engaging, hands-on demonstrations, installations, and exhibits. The restaurant "Sea Glass" is a little pricey, but the actual Exploratorium can keep you engaged, busy and learning for 5+ hours. Definitely worth the price of admissions. Doesn't matter if you're a group of adults or family-- everyone has fun. Also, the Tactile Dome is an hour experience. Buy the tickets at the entry and select a time slot. Usually, they send people in groups of one to three...maybe four people. But, it's a lot of fun though definitely an extra cost. Most fun for adventurous children, and adults who are kids at heart. We're going back to finish the demonstrations and really engage with the other installations and exhibits we didn't get to see.

Love the new location. We spent hours there and could have spent more. The best part is the area about human behavior. Didnt get to see any of the shows because of all the other curiosities but will definitely try to hit them next time.

A discovery museum for big and small. Scientific phenomena are explained super well by means of models and experiments. You can try everything on it, press it, touch it and have fun. And on Thursday the museum opens at 6 pm and for a lower admission price, the gates open to anyone over the age of 21. There is music, drinks and the adults are above average or long all back to children
Also worthwhile is the view from the roof over the night-lit San Francisco with the lightscape of the Bay Bridge.

It was a fun experience. The display was amazing and I put in time to go through all the different things displayed there. I went on the After Glow night. The only downside was that there was a huge line at the open bar.

I was so sad to learn that they had moved out of the Palace of Fine Arts :( I loved that building for it's beautiful architecture. But I think it's new location on the pier fits it much better!! I was NOT disappointed with the Exploratorium!! I could have spent much more time there :)

You can lost for an entire afternoon playing around with all of the exhibits. I've been to a couple of corporate parties here too which have been super well done (some more than others). The location jetting out into the bay is reason enough to walk around the building.
