Highly recommended for age above 7 because before 7 it's useless. Good to understand scientific concepts in a practical way

Lots of fun, interesting interactive exhibits for both adults and kids (from age 6+) . Tickets were a little expensive, but it was money well spent. Great place to spend a few hours learning interesting things.
Excellent interactive experience for all ages. For kids with high energy great place for them. Indoor and outdoor activities. We spent 4 hours there
Great! That's what should be in every city instead of churches.
Science Center type of place, restaurant inside is a bit pricy but has a decent selection of food.
So many young college kids but cool concept nonetheless.
Awesome things to see and do. I was there 5 hours and we didnt see everything. My only complaint is AVOID eating at the cafeteria at all costs. Mediocre food at best and I payed 70 bucks for a fairly modest lunch, what a scam.
A great place for kids and families! The exhibits were very interactive, fun and engaging. Now, if only I had come here as a kid...maybe I would have enjoyed the Sciences a lot more in school.
Love this place! A great learning experience for all ages. Love the indulgence into all of your senses! It really makes one think of how the world around them actually works.
Carried out there with a child 6 hours and then went!
Amazing place to visit! I thought it will take just a few hours, but ended up spending 4+ hours, and still didn't see everything. There is something for all ages, from toddlers to adults. I will definitely visit again.
An amazing and interactive museum. Great for all ages and interests. Easy access by car and Muni. Amazing views of San Francisco too. I'll definitely be back.
Great place for kids to play and learn; highly recommended
This place was great and so is their website is also a phenomenal resource.
Lots of interesting things to do. The only down side is that everything is "hands on" including all the coughing, sniffling kid's hands. I can't fathom why they don't have antiseptic wipe dispensers throughout the facility. Would make for a more pleasurable experience.
Very popular with the kids. Very educational. A great location right on the water. You could spend hours in the gift shop alone. It is a tourist attraction as well so it's not cheap. But it is fun and a must at least once.
Great for kids and adult. Very nice hand on activities.
This is the place for the adventuneer in everyone! A good place to learn about science and space but also have a good time doing it. So many things to play with and learn from. I definitely recommend it. Keep in mind that a lot of kids and schools go here, so go on a day where there won't be so many kids. ;)
This place is an absolute blast for kids. Pretty much what I imagine Bill Nye would open if he were Willy Wonka, instead of the chocolate factory.
Great place for children and adults. We are stay here for three hours, there are a lot of interactive activities for try. It s very friendly.
Fun and educational for kids and adults. Learning about how our senses work. Huge so you probably couldn't even go through every experience even if you had a full day.
Too much to see and do the kids and adults loved it alike
Great place to visit with kids and teach them science
Probably too many things to see in one afternoon! Tourists may not have enough time to see everything.
Amazing place for kids and adults! Tickets are pricey but worth it.
Surprisingly fun and full of things to learn and do. Even for adults.
Very interesting place. Plan to spend good amount of time here.
Tons of fun for all ages. Public school teachers get in free.
They closed a lot of the activities 45 minutes before closing. Not worth $20.
Really cool way to spend a few hours. Lots of fun exhibits for all ages
Great for kids, but most attractions should be familiar with a basic education
Very neat place! It's a little tiring if you're walking around to see everything. In fact, I can almost guarantee that in one visit, you won't get too see everything!
If you're local, it might be worth getting the pass, but in any case, it's neat to learn new things in a fun way. Great for adults and kids alike!
A blast to explore and play around the exploratorium. You learn a lot and get to experience science.
There are so many things worth exploring here. Each one is like a puzzle. It took six hours to play with children and there was still a lot to do.
We went twice to this place, nice place for kids to learn things about science, amazes adults too.
Very interesting place, perfect to go with friends and have some fun together
So many experiments. I went through the whole place and I feel like I didn't see half of the displays. Very fun for curious children who like to understand how things work.
Excellent place to visit with kids. Probably ly more helpful than reading g all of this in school. The whole place encourages 'exploring' the displays and artifacts, this is in my opinion the best way to learn.
It's a lot of fun as well, you could easily spend the whole day here.
Great place for kids, young (5) and not so young (12). Very hands on.
Our kids had a fantastic time exploring this place. It was a crowded day so many of the activities had lines which was minimally frustrating.
SOOO FUN. For adults and kids. There is so much to see, you could come here multiple days and not see everything. Really. Very kid friendly, many of the exhibits are interactive. The staff are helpful and accommodating. I had to nurse my son while there and they let me use the first aid room. They have a gift shop and a restaurant which are expensive but very nice. It's not like a normal museum, if you get bored easily this is definitely up your alley. Adult tickets run about $30 each. Great place!
My kids loved this place. My older son says it has ruined all other science centers for him. My husband was impressed by how well maintained all the experiences seem to be. Everything worked. Everything was designed for engagement. My husband and son even took part in some research about user experience for a new exhibit. The entrance fee is high, but worth it. Easy to get to on the street car too.
Great museum. fun for kids or even dates. Even if it's crowded there are so many attractions that you don't have to wait. Worth a trip.
They have lots of awesome stuff but since it is so large and takes a whole day I felt there could have been more areas for rest and refreshment. Also, there were a lot of schools attending at the moment of visit and the staff could have helped keep everything in order.
During my recent trip to San Franciso, I visited the Exploratorium based on a friend's recommendation. While I enjoyed myself, I would definitely say that the museum is best experienced by kids. The Exploratorium was immensely educational, and I wish I could have visited when I was still young. Round up your kiddies and make them romp around and explore the Exploratorium!
Scientific factoids for the curious! Super interesting everyday phenomenon that we may not consider until we take the time to explore. Afterwards there is food at the Ferry Building restaurants close bye or with a reasonable walk all the seafood you could want at the wharf.
It is amazing, one of the best science museum I have ever gone. All kind of things, such as electrical stuff, magnetic field, light, waves, electromagnetic waves and classic physics. Its close at 5pm, be careful with that.
If you love applied science museums, this is the place for you. Everything is very hands on and tactile. I bought a membership so I can go whenever I want. I've been a handfull of times and still haven't explored everything they have to offer. I recommend going alone and taking your time, although there are plenty of activities to do with a partner or small group.
The way you can interact with the exhibits is quite amazing. As a student who studies science, I feel that the exploratorium is a fun way of learning some mathematics and science
Great place to learn about science and still have fun!
Fantastic place to visit with kids while in San Fransisco
What a rad spot to hang out and learn about science. I went for the adults-can-drink night with my partner, and it seemed like everyone was with their company or their date. Take folks you wanna be silly with and have fun.
Cost too much, unorganized but cool. The gift shops prices were affordable as well compared to the other prices all around there.
Go visit this place. Doesn't matter if you are 5 or 55, this place will have something that blows your mind. I could spend hours just wandering the halls looking at all the stuff. I did a night event for adults but definitely worth visiting multiple times during the day when there's hopefully less crowding too
#1 if you go there some time before the opening hours, you may enjoy the outdoor parts too
#2 if you feel you cannot afford the full price tickets, you may ask to enter on a volunteer donation paying with a credit card
#3 as soon as you enter you may want to go till the farthest sections to enjoy less crowded rooms
My grandsons particularly liked the 'gravity art project' (my name for it. ) Be aware that tickets (free) are needed to get a time slot. Tickets are given out at 10 AM and 2 PM. The time slots are in 10 minute increments.
If you are interested, get in line early; or plan to get there to get in line for a ticket, go explore and maybe have lunch, then come back for your time. One ticket is awarded per person in line, so if you need three tickets, three MUST be there when tickets are handed out.
TIP: Ask the workers for suggestions about swinging the board for a large design. They are quite helpful.
ALERT: Entry is expensive; so check out the website for ticket pricing and consider a membership or family membership.
Lots of really nice demos, although best for 6+ year old kids I think
We loved this place, very big with heaps to see and do. The kids loved all the hands on experiments etc that there are to do here. There is so much to do we ran out of time. Well worth the money
What a mesmerizing array of ingenious inventions, contraptions, and mind challenging gizmos. I loved it, !!! The mysteries, and laws of physics, are a constant challenge to the free thinking mind. I could have spent the entire day there, such was the depth of variety and ingenuity. May your workshop think tank, forever carry on their endless quest for new innovations.
The kids really enjoyed this place. Coolest science exhibits, some intricate Gear Assembly that moved once every gazillion years (or something like that) really impressed me.
Lots of fun (and education). I highly recommend the adult only evenings.
It is a very organized place, with friendly staff, and the equipment is in great conditions. The cool science stuff worked well, especially the huge bubble and nitrogen tornado. It is in a good location to get pictures, and it was overall a great experience.
Took grandsons to see Curious Contraptions. Had to stop at the shadow wall!
