My plumber was waiting for them to come out and shut the water off at the street. I had to send him away after waiting several hours!!! They even had the nerve to stop answering the phone. Maybe they should be liable for his hourly rate because they are to stupid to do their jobs! It's a shame they are allowed to have a monopoly , I'd like to see them stupid their way out of business.

Evansville water monopoly is a joke. my wife and i moved into our new house 1 week ago. I had two leaky toilets, so I turned off the water to those two toilets I called several times to figure out what else was going on with the different charges. the house we lived at before we would average 1k gallons per month using the same washer and the same number of people in the house showering and so on. I called and all they keep telling me was that you are using the amount the meter reads. and that the average person uses 3k gallons. even though at the old house (built in 1957) we were using max of 2k gallons with the same appliances and same number of people living there. they were not very helpful. and when you talk to them and ask if the meter was possibly reading it wrong all they would say nope its correct and of course machines and device are never wrong lol. I just find it weird we go from one house to another and all of a sudden we use double the water or triple? don't make since. I hate waiting on hold to talk to someone and when I finally get to talk to them all they can say they cant help me and the meter is correct. they realize we cant shop around to different companies and they take advantage of that. I have never had any problems before. when I check the online app at the hourr by hourr reads I see 50, 60 ,70, sometimes 90 or 100 gallans in one hour at times when were not even home or asleep. and all they can say is check for running toilets even though I told them the water is off to the toilets until I get the plumber to finally come out. so water shouldn't be filling up and "leaking".
like vectren, Evansville water is a monopoly. and take advantage of the fact we only have one choice of utilities... im not happy with any of this and how things are being handle. at least vectren offers energy audits to help find ways to cut cost...Evansville water is not helpful at ALL...

There is a serious problem when your water bill is higher than your electric bill. Their customer service did not try to help when we have been customers for years and had a huge high water bill bc of a running toilet we didn t know was running until we got a high bill. Thanks for caring about other people. My bill has been increased at least 3 times since I have been with you guys.

Just moved into my new house over the weekend. Was told to call on Monday to have the water/sewer put in my name. Woke up Monday morning to my water shut off. Called and was on hold for 20 mins. Once I got through, the lady was extremely rude and told me they couldn't come back out the same day to turn my water back on and would take two business days to do so. What a joke. So now I'm without water for a few days

Horrible! If you try & call they will put you on hold forever. If you try & go into the office & talk with them they are completely rude. Do not under any circumstances set up automatic bill payment with them. If you encounter a problem with the auto-pay they will say it is MVP Banking that is doing it. When in fact that is a lie & it is all the water department doing this. Unfortunately I cannot give them zero stars or I would.

Horrible customer service. After being on hold forever, the lady would not even let me speak without speaking over me. She wouldn't listen at all. My bill was outrageous and I know it is incorrect but she just kept saying that I was being charged for the water I was using. I know there is no way they could have charged me accurately with the amount I was using. Basically, they are your only option in Evansville so you have to pay whatever they want to charge you just like with Vectren. They should train their staff a little better with their customer service skills.

Every since we put our bill on auto pay it's gone up. When we were making payments things were much more reasonable. Our bill use to be between $80- $90 a month now it's like $120 or more for these past four months on auto pay. Customer service is rude. She tells me how much my water bill should be a month as if they're giving me a deal. She didn't care to hear what I had to say. She hissed and hung the phone on me. I dont know about anyone else but we can't even drink our water. It's disgusting. It smells and there's stuff floating in it. For now on Auto pay will be taken off of my account. Vectren is enough. I'd be damned before Water and Sewer screw me over too!

Apparently they estimated our bill for 3 months since the meter wasn't communicating with their office. They're too lazy to come check it I suppose. Now, I get a bill that's double because they finally got around to coming out to check it. Someone needs to get their act together and learn how to read meters.

Very naste people. Just moved from Florida where the water bill is about $100 a month
The water here is $350 a month. And the chlorine smell is like a public pool. There pipes are breaking and make your road like a three world country.

Anytime you feel the need to listen to very ignorant & arrogant people just contact Evansville water/sewer dept. I say listen as you can't talk to them, they truly believe they know it all and we know nothing. I'll never try to report a water leak again even if the damn town is flooding to hell I'll just watch..lol
They could at least get rid of the trash talking hillbillies down there at least.. Just like other reviews state they are real dumb ass's working there no doubt about that at all.

There seems to be an inverse relationship between the water rates and the customer service. As the rates climb, the service plummets. They will disconnect your water in a heartbeat (a couple of days before your next bill is due) and then laugh as you have to pay the $40 reconnect fee. Zero empathy and no wiggle room. They don't care if you have small children in the house or someone on life support. ...Just don't ever assume that you can get caught up on your next bill, you won't have water by then.

I was on hold for 23 minutes and then a recording ...

I was on hold for 23 minutes and then a recording came on saying that is is now 4:30 and they are closed. My call was then dumped. No private business could survive doing that! Every reasonable business stops taking calls at their time of closing but still answers the calls on hold. Besides, a half hour on hold is a problem!

After moving to this county from another Indiana County I was shocked to discover that renters in this county need not pay their waterworks bill. This county just illegally tags the property owner for the bill regardless of who signed for the service. This underhand practice has been struck down in court every time it is contested but the crooks in this county does it anyway because most every home owner doesn t want to go through the long court battle. So, potential landlords beware! You will get nailed for your tenets bill if they don t pay even if you never agree to pay their bill. Soon there will be more housing problems because landlords need to add a hundred bucks a month to rent prices to cover getting jacked by a crooked water department.

Finally, the cost of water in this county has absolutely skyrocketed along with the level of service going downhill. Vanderburgh County has decided to not only spend money like a drunken sailor but, also drain the swamp by putting in pumps and drains to keep property on the south and southeast sides dry when these houses were built in low areas that always flooded. Now homes bought for next to nothing because they are in areas that flood are being kept dry on the dime of every other customer forced to get water and sewer services from a water department that run by dolts throwing out hundreds of millions to contractors who know they need not be concerned to keep costs down. Vanderburgh customers are seeing hundred percent bill increases every few years.

Waited about ten minutes to make my call. My bill keeps going up and the service is going down. I think if these prices keep going up Evansville indiana waterworks needs to be reported to the federal government.

Just moved into a new home and was set to have my water turned on Monday. It is now Tuesday, no running water at my house, and they are closed for a "Holiday" when there is none to be closed for. From what I've heard, and from what I'm currently seeing, customer service is lacking.

Waited on hold for over 20 minutes, twice, without being able to hold any longer and reserve my place in line. I was then redirected to leave a "return message". No return call of course. The worst customer service. Remember, we pay for you to have a job. You can do much better. Be an example of what true customer service should look like.
