Extremely bad service by staff.

Extremely bad service by staff.
Just 1 toilet for the long serpentine queues.
Do this only if you have nothing else to do with your time.
Don't be fooled by the 'skip the queue' ticket.
It is actually 'skip the queue to the queue'.
The queue runs in multiple curved lines.

Extremely bad crowd management. They essentially leave the crowds to manage themselves through tight corridor and bottlenecks to see false, reproduced or empty rooms. They are cheating the public and depending on lack of knowledge and language barriers to hide their farce. Don't waste your time. The relics and real works of art have long been destroyed.

A great place that must be visited. You can visit the gardens first and then the palace. The queue for entering the palace in the morning is massive! But a bit later on is all clear and no waiting.

Very crowded on Saturday. If you purchase the regular palace ticket with free gardens (cheapest option) expect a 2hr plus wait in a queue to get in and the gardens were closed to us since an event was being held in them that required an additional event ticket purchase. So double check for special garden events and get there early.

Large place and extremely huge line. We waited 2.30 hours on queue although we had tickets. The whole organisation is bad. Every visitor passes from one and only security point, the rooms were too crowded to see anything and the labels are only in French which is abserb! The gardens were really good though and we had the time to rest from standing so many hours.

This is what you have to visit in Versalles:
1. Versalles' palace (inside is amazing)
2. The fountains : they are open from 10 am - 12 mn and 3 pm - 5 pm. It`s the best of the gardens.
3. The Queen`s Village: it is inside of the Trianon State.

Absolutely stunning place. So massive and would recommend a whole day to see the whole Palace. Not enough eateries though. In the summer it would be very beneficial to have an outdoor cafe or eatery.

Get your tickets before you get in line. That LONG line isn't the ticket line. If you didn't get them online before you arrived, go to the building to your left as you enter the palace grounds. There are several tour options, the least expensive is for just the gardens.

It was a bit busy, but name one major tourist attraction in a major tourist country/city that isn't. The palace grounds are incredible and really can't be described. The size and scope of the place is awesome, especially considering when it was built. If it's a nice day, plan to spend a lot of time walking the gardens and grounds.

Stunning! Beautiful Palace and Grounds. Prepare for lots of walking from the train station to get here. The queue to get in wasn't too long. Is worth the walk & wait however as there are so many beautiful rooms. Well worth getting the audio guide. Hiring a 'Golf buggy' to get around the grounds was a highlight! So fun and worth it as ground are extensive. I would highly recommend a visit for sure.

Visiting the Palace of Versailles can easily take up more than half your day if you're travelling by metro from the city and you really enjoy appreciating the art.

Just like the palace, the garden is also HUGE and you'll probably stop there for lunch which adds to the hours. Visiting on a nice sunny day and strolling through the garden helps to make you feel like you're in 18th Century France lol

What can I say about this? Wow! Such a magical place, full of ornaments, luxury, art, history.

Definitely Versailles is an icon of French history.

My recommendations are:

1) buy tickets in advanced, and try to get here early.
2) after you get your full of the palace head outside to the gardens
3) I would definitely rent a golf cart so you drive around the huge gardens
4) enjoy

Note: you need a different ticket for the gardens, you can buy palace and garden tickets online

While incredibly crowded with bulging your buses, the majesty of this place was not overshadowed! While the inside was wonderful to look at, it was the grounds that were memorable. I advise getting out of the house and making the trek to the Queen s house, where almost no tourists had bothered to go! It was quiet and beautiful. There is also a fake village that they created out on the grounds. It s a must-see! Bring your own snacks as the prices are extravagant.

Get the RERC River Gauche to get there. Make sure you get the right one. Get there early, Go see the gardens first, take the train extra $ to see the Le petite Trianon, the food choices inside the chateau/palace is ridiculously expensive and poor, but again it is the chateau du Versailles.

The line was so long, and the actual palace was very crowded and confusing. I waited 3 hours to get in, and spent about 45 minutes inside. The gardens were nice though. I went because its one of those touristy things you have to do but honestly, it was not my favorite part of the trip.

A must see in France that's a short drive from Paris, there is ample street parking and plenty of cafes nearby. The palace is enormous and would take all day to walk through the interior and gardens. When I was inside all I could imagine is what must have been going through the heads of the revolutionaries when they first entered the palace.

Amazing views and great if you want to learn more about history. I would recommend buying a timed ticket to avoid the massive queues or turn up when it opens ( at 9 ). If you're a foreigner to France the machines to pay for the carparking only accept French cards so you are required to go inside and pay at a machine

Wear comfortable shoes - park is not good for high heels. Only a few fountains were working, but still Versailles is Versailles. Plus: not much tourists are visiting right now.
Personal advise: is your visit includes Trianon go there by petit train after you finished walking around the garden. Or you can rent bicycle from Grand canal station (next to restaurant).

Absolutely, incredibly, astonishingly beautiful. Clearly one of the most elegant and luxurious historical sites in Europe, if not the world. Versailles is much larger than I expected, as I assumed it would be a similar size to the trianon estate (an area within Versailles, comparatively miniscule). However, Trianon was my personal favourite area as it maintained a calm atmosphere despite the bombardment of tourists like myself. The 'English village' was a particular favourite for my family and we found it quite funny; it truly appears as a fairytale, Disney-style village complete with 3 cottages and a working farm. How quaint!

This is a must-see even for every person curious about what opulence was like back in the day. The sheer size of the bedroom chambers and various halls will blow your mind. They offer free audio recordings that you can listen to as you guide yourself from room to room. Don't forget to checkout the details in the ceilings and within the doors and fire place. Absolutely amazing. The gardens and backyard fountains are just as wonderful (aka huge) with many water dancing shows that occur multiple times throughout the day. You can easily spend half a day here. Beware: weekends are flooded with tourists, so if possible try to go during a weekend. Also, purchase your tickets online prior to visiting or you'll suffer the wrath of long long waiting line ups.

The palace and the history behind that was amaizing, the gardens beautiful. You can't see everything in just one day, thats how huge it was. But the line at the entrance was a horror, 3 hours waiting in the sun, many people used to skip the line . Inside there was no fan at least to circulate the air (don't even think about air conditioner). Overoll it was a very nice experience but I would suggest to go during the spring or fall.

Queue when arriving at 1pm was about 1.5km long for entry into the Palace even if you pre-booked. Very few fountains working and only turned on for a short period. Asked staff why there were no fountains and they explained there was a water shortage due to the heatwave, despite having charged us 7 extra each for the fountain show (which we did not see). For the extra 7 you also get to hear music played through speakers which wasn't too impressive at all - could just put some earphones and open up Spotify. Paid 4 for two scoops of ice cream, tasted decent. Grass in most of the gardens is not kept well and some hasn't been cut for a while.

nice walk, great gardens and the palace is impressing... we were very disappointed about the fountains musical show instead... we had to pay extra money for it, but there's nothing but some music in the background and no show at all.

Do it, but there are TWO WAYS TO SKIP THE LINE.

Do it, but there are TWO WAYS TO SKIP THE LINE.
I think we can all agree this place is a must see, but the lines are unreal. Entrance fee is 25-28 .
First option- Buy the Paris museum pass, its absolutely worth it and gives you access to a bunch of museums including this one. Its only 50 if you get in Paris AND since you already have your ticket and just need to get it scanned, let s you skip the long line.

The second - Buy a tour. The official Versailles box office is 1 block away on the left side of the street you re walking up to and facing the front of the palace. It ll run you around 50-55 and this method ALSO lets you skip the line.

After waiting for an over an hour and a half to get in you hope for the spectacular and that's what you get! Room after room of opulence and beauty. The only complaint I could have is that we missed some rooms as there could have been a few more signs letting us know which way to go.

Beautiful. Get your advance tickets ahead of time that secures your spot to the half-hour...this way, you'll be able to skip the long ticket line (Line A). As you approach the Palace, simply go to the line on the left with your advanced ticket purchase.

Inside, yes, there are tons of people and it is difficult to take everything in. The rooms leading up to the Hall of Mirrors and just after are shoulder-to-shoulder and it can get hot.

The gardens are just as breathtaking. I advise to take the tram, or, if you're there quick enough, rent a golf cart. Even being in great shape, the grounds are literally over a mile long and after walking all day inside it wears you down.

Overrated, overpriced, overcrowded.

Overrated, overpriced, overcrowded.
The queue goes for 3 to 4 hours to enter.
The lazy workers rush you in a rather unpleasant way out of the exhibition rooms and close them as early as 05:00PM ! (They pretend, when you buy the ticket, that the castle is open until 06:30PM !!!!! )
Sincerely, just go to the gardens and the Trianons, they are by far worth more of your time and money....

This palace is absolutely over the top!!! Words cannot explain how amazing and a must it is to visit. I recommend going very early as nice line ups too see the castle build quickly and can exceed 3 hour wait to get in! Also it is highly worth taking a full day to also see the garden and Marie Antoinette's estate.

The palace was lovely. Get there before 9 to avoid standing for too long. Plan on spending the day and wearing comfortable shoes. The gift shops on the grounds have a full range of souvenirs. I will treasure my recipe books. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Wow, truly amazing! Even though it was cold and very windy in Feb, it was so much nicer than battling massive crowds! I recommend going in the low or shoulder seasons. I was able to get photos with few to no people in them (except for the Hall of Mirrors!). I'm so glad we took a day away from Paris to see the palace and grounds. I would stay in a hotel in Versailles actually. It looks like a nice town. You need more than one day to see everything though...

The castle building from the outside and the gardens are amazing. I don't recommend going inside because of the massive line and the rather tourist trap feeling you will get. Enjoy the views, get a coffee in the park, rent a boat and stay for the evening fountain show and you will be much happier than standing in line.

The Palace of Versailles, originally the summer home for King Louis XIV, is wonderfully preserved and historically striking. The palace holds many beautiful arts and replicas of the original rooms. One can easily become lost in the sea of rooms as the hours fly by. After touring the building, a stroll through the gardens is quite pleasing. The only noticeable downside of the attraction is the large amounts of people all there to witness a fantastic piece of French history.

It is one of the best palace I ever seen. Audio guide is very useful and gives details of each and every thing you see, just type the number on audio phone and it reads about it. Garden is magnificent have swan, ducks etc you can do self boating as boats are available on rent, there are so many entrances to garden however main entrance is at front where is the palace located. There was huge queue at main entrance but it was moving fast and maximum it will take 20-30 min to enter in palace . This was on Sunday the free entry day, trust other days it would be even shorter queue. Segway, cycle, self driving battery car, battery train are there if you don t want to walk 3 KM (return) in side garden. Garden and lake is Best place for kids to enjoy. Go with train as it is very convenient, fast, economical and near to palace.

One of my favorite places from my visit to Paris, make sure you visit the gardens- they are astounding and you can easily spend three hours just walking around in them. Just realize that there are huge crowds in the palace and some of the tourists are less than polite.
