A beautiful and quiet library. A great place to do some reading, some research, or simply to charge up your devices. Plenty of outlets and very comfortable chairs. Just don't fall asleep please, these nice folks may be forced to ask you to leave.

The Eugene Public Library has served the city of Eugene well since I was a child. Once only a fraction of the size - about ten years ago the build a modern and much lager building for the community. Cheap and located need public transportation!

The Eugene library is awesome. Great selection of books, CDs, and movies. I really enjoy the foreign language section as it is large and extensive. There is underground parking and I have never had an issue with parking. There is also the Bethel Branch and another branch near Sheldon High School. I like the fact I can check out a book downtown and return it at either branch. You can also reserve a book online and have it delivered to another branch for pick up. Great library!

The bathroom's are to small..and people stand and look at you throw the door when you got your pants down....and the secerty guard harass,s ...you every 5 minutes.... And the A.C. dose not work.....and people think it is OK to talk on the cell phone..when you are trying to read....its OK to talk loud....but if you close your eye's for just 30 seconds the secerty guard comes up and touches you.....and all of this good stuff at the library only cost the city $10 million a year....

Good in nearly every respect, however people loud talk here almost as a rule. Bring headphones.

Great to know places like Eugene Library keeping american companies like AOL in business.

If you don't like homeless people you should mail an angry letter to Ronald Reagan.

Standard, run of the mill, small-town library with the typical do-nothing, resentful staff common to the Eugene area. As with any reading establishment, you'll probably be able to find something you like, but as for a research facility forget it. Their catalogue isn't large or varied enough. And they're always looking for ways to inconvenience you like suspending your account without reason and charging you for old damaged books that were that way when you checked them out. Borrower
beware!

This building is a massive improvement over the old location. Turned it from a typical city thing into a prominent and must visit feature of Eugene. And the building was very well built to accommodate most future tech advances into its architecture. Only drawback is the high number of homeless and other off-feeling people in the area but that is changing slightly now that the new Lane Community College dormitory is completed across the street.

I will not use this library again. Lots of transients use this library due to its proximity to the bus station. The odor of the library is disgusting! Too bad because the library is a very beautiful building. Parking is ok but only 2 hours or pay before 5. I would recommend using one of the satellite libraries with free parking and better smell.

This library is a very unsafe place for ethnic minorities. They hosted an event Dog Tale Time right next to the Japanese bookshelf, blocking patrons access to Japanese children s books. Their volunteer staff who was in charge of the event became very hostile after we complained about blocking access to Japanese books and treating us very rudely after we had requested them to move their rugs a little away from the bookshelf so we could access the Japanese books, and he blamed us for being loud, which is a completely different issue, and called me f***ing nuts after I pointed out his use of red herring fallacy. After 75 years since the Chinese Exclusion Act was repealed and 54 years since the Civil Rights Act was enacted, City of Eugene still illegally treats Asians like subhumans who are less than dogs. Their cultural insensitivity and ignorance are appalling.

Good library, have a lot of books and they have private study room, computers and more. The library is clean but since it's public library many people go there just chilling and sleeping. Parking is not convenient.

We are blessed to have a public library in Eugene, Oregon that is tolerant and understanding, as the homeless population increases. The staff here and the Security Officers are very friendly people who do their best daily to provide a safe, clean, quiet atmosphere...

I've been going to libraries almost weekly for the last fifty years. I love libraries, the availability of information and entertainment. And the Eugene Public library is a fantastic library. The 'new' building is spacious and welcoming, a real community gathering place. The staff are friendly and helpful, always willing to take time to find something or help with a difficulty. The DVD collection is great fun, and the CD's, and the books. Anything I want to read, or might think of reading, or might run into on the shelves and have it strike my fancy. Yeah for the EPL!

this library is in a nice location and it has friendly staff and great services. but there needs to be less homeless people sleeping and eating everywhere. also people need to learn respect and be quiet.

The best library in the world i think. The place is very well keft. Love the that it's quite calmly and i can study without dictations around me. They have a bullying concept. There is security there if anything goes wrong. There understanding when something is wrong and they try to answer your questions as soon as possible. So if you need a place that is quite and nice on hot days to study go to the downtown eugene public library.

After being very pleased with the library, I was bothered by books placed on Reserve showing "pending" since January 3rd. I finally got notified they will be available in the next 3-5 days.

Great place. Access to computers (which were thankfully upgraded recently) is quite nice. And the occasional paper book I read (mostly use Kindle these days) they are sure to have it. Great atmosphere here been going since I was young. Only complaint is that the WiFi, while nice to have, is insanely slow, like you can't even make VoIP phone calls over it so yeah.

It's a great library but watch out for the over zealous security. They like to bend rules so grabbing a copy of the policy/rules sheet will go along away if they decide you look like trouble.

Its okay...I like the library visually and architecturally its very nice..... but i wish they would do something about all the truly foul smelling likely homeless people who go in there to grab a book and sit on a chair and not read it, but use the place as a warm nap spot. Aren't there shelters in eugene for that? As for the administration i never had any issues at all. the first day going in i looked a little lost and someone at the info station across the way waved me over with a really helpful smile and i applied for a library card and got one not 5 minutes later, for free too. If you are from out of town usually city libraries do charge. Fact of life. show you pay city taxes and theyll give you a free card.

Transients/Homeless laying on the floors all over the enclosed front entry. Dirty. Smelly. Disgusting. Ordered a small coffee (which was horrible and costed 6 bucks) I didn't make it all the way inside the library because I was afraid to leave my bike locked up outside. Perhaps once you get it it's better? Not a good first impression.

The best Library in the state of Oregon. When I first moved to Eugene the library was very small tuck away behind it seemed like it was just one of the offices, could have been a law firm or something similar. Thanks Eugene.

Plenty of nice tables, light, books, computers, wireless internet.

The location does invite louder people at times. I usually bring my mp3 just in case someone thinks they can start talking.

I rate Knight Library 4.6/5

The library is great and has a wonderful selection, but sweet Lord, DO NOT put anything on hold. It will take them days to get it to you and you literally cannot just ask someone to grab it from the back. My estimated wait time for an audiobook is now five days. Mind you, it was in the shelf when I put in the hold request.

Update: guys. My LOTR audiobook spent more time in library purgatory than Frodo spent in Mordor.

$125 for a frigging library card! And if you're a renter rather than a homeowner YOU CANNOT GET A CARD! Add to this homeless tweakers at every other table, and you have a library that's best avoided! (Parents, please keep your children close by, because many of the scumbag homeless people that frequent the place are sex offenders.)

Online reservations works great. Fantastic selection and location. Parking is easy down in the parking garage. Lovely architecture and open spaces. Special events can be really special. Computer lab and digital resources are on par with some bigger cities. Staff is friendly and helpful. Recommended.

Super fancy looking! The security is pleasant and there are a ton of activitys to do here. They also have charging stations pretty much at every spot to sit. The bathrooms are always clean as well.

With the smelly career-panhandling homeless and undisciplined children whose do-nothing mothers let them yell and run around like it's a playground, the library should be renamed B&B Library.

That stands for Bums & Brats Library!

Really enjoy the library and free library card/internet access for up to 3 hours at a time!
If your too much of an ignorant prude to even be around less fortunate people, how about you go buy a book instead of borrowing one that has been handled by dozens of other PEOPLE. Living in eugene there are plenty of homeless people and if you can't get used to that move somewhere else. This town belongs to everybody

This library has an amazing children's section with weekly activities for kids of all ages. In addition, the staff is incredibly helpful, patient, and friendly. They also have two free electric car spots.

My 1st time I needed the use of the computers. When I went to print, it wasn't very self explanatory and paying seemed to be an issue too. I kept having to approach the desk for help an I'm pretty savvy with electronics. Alas, I need to return to print things.. Also, workers there when you walk in seem put out to help anyone. Security watches you like your going to steal the tile..

I love this library! It's really tall (for a library!) with 3 levels. It's got a bunch of computers which you can use for 2 hours each day for free with your library account. You also get a library2go account which is mostly what I use. The physical books and media can be reserved and managed online (with a crappy website :( ) which is pretty cool! To return stuff, there's an outside automated dropoff to easily return loaned items. The staff are really nice and so is this library!

This lirbary has some of the worst staff I have ever seen. They are unwilling to help when there is a problem and they just let kids run around and scream, they also do nothing about people touching service dog and let cat in as service animal and when you complain they just let it go. They also allow people assault other guest and then when complain is made they tell us that both party will be told to leave. They allow there guest to drunk when they are in lirbary. people are allow to carry weapons in and threat people with they and they are just let back in to lirbary 2 week later This staff have no people skills whatsoever.

I've lived in both medium-size and major cities and this is definitely the best library I've been a patron of. My home town of Salt Lake even won national "Library of the Year" awards, but it doesn't even compare to the Eugene Library. I've never seen a library with so much technology and incredibly useful services. I think it will take months to explore all of the resources this library provides. I'm very, very impressed!!

The library staff, especially the security guards ...

The library staff, especially the security guards who are supposed to maintain order, are increasingly ambivalent toward the troublemakers who frequent the downtown branch. While they're pretty spontaneous at waking up the dozers who nap there, they do absolutely nothing about the ones who act up at the 2nd floor west end.

Another problem you're bound to encounter is the all-too-frequent table hogs who won't let anyone else sit at the same table. No one is allowed to hog up a whole table, whether they need extra space for their reading materials or they're waiting for someone else to show up. Nevertheless, the library staff will make a quick assessment of the problem and decide that the one who's bigger is in the right and order the smaller person to leave immediately or they'll call the police.

Finally, the library's preferred visitors seem to be man-hating feminists. I'm not kidding! They'll stop at nothing to get you kicked out if they decide they don't like you. My suggestion: the Knight Memorial Library on the UO campus. Much quieter, more seating and they have free guest Wi-Fi that's much faster and more reliable than the public library.

What a beautiful library! Everyone is extremely kind and helpful. Many programs are offered such as ESL tutoring and a maker's space. I really utilize the capability to access e-books and audio books from my mobile devices quite often. Thank you, Eugene Public Library.

Parking in the basement is free when I park in the Disablility parking spaces w/ my Disability Packard. I can stay at the library as long as I want. Th. Library is beautifully built. Three floors to choose from. My favorite is the 2nd floor where I have access to computers for three hours daily. Large print books are on 3rd floor. There is an expansive selection to choose from no matter what your area of interest. Truly an enjoyable experience.

After 75 years since the Chinese Exclusion Act was repealed and 54 years since the Civil Rights Act was enacted, City of Eugene still illegally treats Asians AND LOCAL MINORITIES like subhumans who are less than dogs. Their cultural insensitivity and ignorance are appalling - slightly edited restated quote I have sincerely felt. This place should enforce their hygienic standards, stop housing lazy drug users and homeless people that leave stink and create tension. Too much entitlement and territorial mentalities. Too many (crudely dressed) kids going inside to only cause distraction. The times I ask for a private room to so I can focus, every moment a person walks by, unknowingly paranoid, must pry into my business by looking into my room, almost always with aggressive walks and at least half of them carry huge filthy backpacks. People horde the stalls in the restrooms and let the smell fill the room instead of simply flushing. Vile Pigs! Don't come here expecting respectful mannerisms being a minority, we're looked at like aliens.

The staff here are really nice and are always willing to help you if you need help with something, and if the staff you ask a question to is not able to help you, then they will help you find someone who can. This library is enormous ( personally, I think that the word enormous is a understatement in this situation). The books are sorted so you can find the book(s) and/or movie(s) easily.

I rent a room in a house that apparently does not pay property taxes in the city of Eugene and cannot renew my library card. I don't own the house and live and work in Eugene but cannot have a library card unless I pay a monthly fee which is more than spotify and Netflix combined monthly. This outrageous and a horrible way to do business. I used to buy my morning coffee in the cafe in the Library lounge but will no longer be doing so due to this tyranny they have pushed onto me. I even took my parents there when they were in town and told them how great the library was, I wish I had not done that because I was grossly misinformed. Will not step foot in the Eugene Public Library ever again.

Lazy staff with no respect whatsoever. If you attempt to make a complaint they ban you. If you try to make a complaint on the phone they will literally hang up on you all day without consequence. If you appeal a banning they will ban you longer. We need to stop paying for this. Privatize it I gaurentee it will be the Library all us working (tax paying) folks know it could be. Also yes ethnic people need to be careful here.

Books and dignity! The staff is great and very helpful. I always love to find a cozy warm place in the PNW to read a book. They also have the best lending library with great litterally finds free to anyone.

A great library that does wonderful things for our community. They have a children's section with many community events such as readings and other activities. Young adult section has recently been remodeled and is a great place for teens to socialize and read good books. Magazines and other events also take place for young adults. The library also offers a pretty good selection of CDs and other media. Short classes and seminars are also available for members of the community. I wish there were more events targeted towards adults that don't go to the library too often.

Unable to renew newer books, was never told that upon getting a card. God forbid if you have a busy life and can't read a book in two weeks time. Would be nice to allow longer time to keep the books especially during the summer. Also, the stairs from the underground parking was disgusting and it smelled like urine and garbage. Another thing, it seems like they always want you to put a hold on books so they can attempt to pinch a dollar out of you. If they ask if you want to put a hold on a book, don't do it!

This place is an easy way to lose a few hours. I also love that right at the book return spot, you can stand in the circle and hear acoustics nobody else can hear. I also love how you can see over the first floor from the second floor balcony, and they even have a small playground for kids! Excellent selection of movies as well. Best library I have ever seen, and I've been to a few.

All of you classist yuppies complaining about how homeless people are such an eye sore to you...just...go home? That's something they don't have. Them being an eye sore to you doesn't justify your poor prig attitude. Go home.

Extremely restrictive internet access. They allow watching cat videos on youtube and playing mind destroying flash games on facebook, but do not allow the playing of educational games like minecraft online. Theres really no reason for this, someone playing minecraft all day might use 15 megabytes of data transfer but someone watching cat videos would use hundreds.

Went in today to renew our library cards. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Shout out to Keith for taking the time to fix a financial discrepancy so quickly! It made our day to have it taken care of and an extended 5 months of service because of the Covid year. Grateful for this fantastic resource.
