Wow!!! This place is the best!! I surprised my mom with a deep tissue massage, mani and a pedi. I live out of town, so when I called they made the experience of booking her appointment very pleasant. She got the ultimate spa experience from champagne and mimosas to having the best massage and nail services. Everyone was so nice to her and always made sure she was being taken care of. When I picked her up, she had the biggest smile that I ve ever seen! She kept telling me how she felt so happy and relaxed, she also mentioned how she didn t feel rushed (for nail services) like other places she s been too. Other places rush you to pick a color and have two people at a time trying to get you out ASAP that you don t get to relax. She didn t want to leave this place when it was time to pick her up. I m so pleased with essentials spa and will be looking to getting a membership for my mom. Thank you all so much for making this the best experience for her.

This is a top notch establishment. I am blessed to have the best stylist (25+ yrs) in Bakersfield at Essentiels, but also use the spa when I can and purchase a lot of products there, which are all top quality. Also, any inquiries or concerns I have had since Essentiels arrived at the Marketplace have been immediately addressed and always to my satisfaction. There is no place else for me. Thanks, DeeDee and everyone for creating a great establishment.

I been purchasing Kerastase products and other skin care products for about 10 years at this Salon! I was being helped by a very nice gentleman, who I believe was fairly new! I was buying 3 Kerastase products! One product I wanted was not in stock and I had asked to order it, and I would pre pay! Which, I have done numerous times before! Another lady behind the counter told me that " I could not order anything and whatever was on the shelf was that"!
It was extremely rude! I put my 3 products back , and let them know I would be purchasing my Kerastase products somewhere else! Never stepping in that door again! Rude behavior and bad customer service!!!

Oh my god. I'm overwhelmed by the shady disrespect...

Oh my god. I'm overwhelmed by the shady disrespect I experienced.
>Get there 30 minutes early for a blowout. No pressure, I'm way too early. I wait patiently. The stylist sees me, doesn't say anything but I don't mind because my appt hasn't started.
>Around my appointment time, stylist tells a lady (ends up being her assistant) to shampoo my hair. No communication to me.
>Assistant washes my hair then asks stylist where to seat me. Sits me down and beings looking for supplies. Applies a detangler, a cream, and a third product to my hair. Is clearly new and doesn't have her bearings (I don't hold this against her). Doesn't know how to lower my chair, operate the hairdryer, where the brushes are, loses the tip of the hair dryer, and is generally nervous.
>The stylist I requested and had confirmed for my appointment is completely ignoring me. Has not said a word to me. Is actively styling another woman's hair.
>I decide that I want to know what is going on and speak to a manager. Assistant says there is a manager. Stylist raises her voice and asks what I want from stylist(still not talking to me). I ask if there is a manager there. They both say yes. Stylist (Jordan) walls up front. I follow. She is talking to receptionist. I ask the receptionist if she is a manager. She says no, there is no manager.
>Jordan leaves to focus on her client. Later find out she intentionally double booked me with this client and chose not to say anything to me about it.
>I tell the receptionist what's going on and that at this point I don't want to wait for the next appointment to have Jordan finish my hair. She asks if I am comfortable going to their other location, I say yes.
>Jordan approaches me and hostily asks what her assistant did wrong. I explain that I am confused by the situation in general, don't like the lack of communication, and want my hair done as I expected it, by the stylist.
>Jordan interrupts me several times. She says her assistant is licensed. She says that I should have somehow known that was her assistant and that she would save my hair at the end (why is a blow dry a two person job?). She says that in the future, I should ask for a stylist without an assistant. She informs me that this is a very popular salon and that many stylists have their assistants do this so they can double book.
>I have been here 3 times in less than a month. No assistant situation until now. At any point, they could just communicate with me and treat me like a customer they value. That is not happening.
>Jordan has a hostile tone the entire time, never acknowledges the communication break down or my valid concerns, and sticks to what I should be doing better.
>I say that I am going to another salon if they aren't able to secure me another appointment. Jordan loudly directs the receptionist to put a note to never pair me with her.
>The assistant is very nicely thanking me for saying something and agrees they should be more honest and communicative. Great growth mindset.
> I was calm, polite, and never raised my voice. Jordan ignored my for the better part of an hour before loudly criticizing and doing nothing to disprove my general concern: I am not valued here.

I spent 5 hours at this Spa and loved every minute of it! My massage, facial, hair treatment and make up sessions were all great! The staff was so very friendly! I highly recommend this spa to anyone wanted to be pampered! I received it as a mothers day gift and I appreciate my husband for sending me there!

Best day ever! I have been a CMT for 15 years and have worked and been to many Day Spas..... I received a spa day pkg from hubby and was treated like a queen. From start to finish the entire staff was attentive, friendly, informative. It started with the mimosa and on to Amanda for nails she did the best job I've ever had... Then off to Phillip for a massage, he got right to my problems plus I was like jelly coming out of the room. And last but certainly not least there was Julie for a facial. She is so good and knowledgeable and probably under paid! Closing out my day I was helped by very helpful staff. You have a great team! Thank you

I went in for a color and trim. I showed pictures of what I wanted and stated explicitly, through both text and in person, that I did not want to lose my length. The stylist then cut off approximately 4-5 inches of my hair without my consent and badly botched the color job. I've been trying to get in touch with a manager for a refund (I have before and after pics to show the damage) but so far have been unsuccessful. I will update this review later.
Edit: After going in the store, I got a refund of what I paid. But apparently, they have NO ONE that knows how afro curly hair like mine, because I was told no one there knows my hair type. So I was left to correct Peggy's mistake.
Also, the last two pictures are what I showed Peggy, and the first two are my hair.

Enjoyed every minute! It was all over too soon. Giovanny focused the message on my painful area. I felt so much better afterwards. The facial by Kelly G. was so relaxing. Shawna N. did an excellent job straightening my curly hair. My makeup by Crystal was great too! I can't wait to come back and do it again!

5 STARS ALL AROUND! Was greeted as soon and I waked in by a very, very friendly staff. I had a facial done by Kelly today and she was WONDERFUL! Planning to come back and see her again. Love that she explains everything and tells you what she would recommend at home for your skin! Also had a massage done by Raven and WOW WOW WOW! I have been dealing with lower back pain for a few months and she made me feel like a new woman! She works magic!!! I will definitely be coming back whenever I m in need of a little self care! :)

The job isn't even pretty still dry skin all around the cuticle and painful cuts so upset and very disappointed and in discomfort. Went in the salon feeling good about the day then the day went from happy to disappointment and feeling upset instantly to tell us that we are not on the schedule but then in the middle of the visit Victoria's daughter said yes mom they are on the schedule on your phone ! Very upset that I was told yesterday after calling that I would be contacted by someone first thing Monday mornings so I waited to call just to be told again that someone will contact me tomorrow I was charged 65 +65 + 30 never in my entire life have I been charged that much to be treated like a rushed thru speedy cut my skin off and my daughters plus one of my daughters is special needs like wow what a awful experience

I had a very bad experience with Marylin , very bad customer service she doesn't care about her customers . She will talk about other clients to me . At the most part im really disappointed in my hair she will not fix it when i asked her to .
Please save your time and find someone else who will care about their customers

I have to praise ERIN for salvaging my hair this past week!! I went to Melissa Valero at Contere Salon and she completely botched my balayage! Thankfully I was able to get in with ERIN a couple of days later and she did an AMAZING job working with what she had! I walked in and was immediately serviced with a glass of red wine (I had a glass of champagne later as well ) ERIN was very patient and took her time thoroughly considering how she could best help me and left me feeling beautiful again. She is definitely my person from here out!! Thank you ERIN!! See you in a few weeks!!

I was greeted by name (always a nice touch), I was immediately taken back to a spa waiting area, offered refreshment (delicious cucumber water), and not 1 min later called for my massage. Incredibly welcoming, beautiful and clean environment, and friendly staff. Araceli was my massage therapist and she is amazing! I already scheduled a subsequent appointment with her specifically.

I have been coming to Essentials since my hairdresser Teresa moved here 15 + years ago. Obviously wherever Teresa goes I will go but I truly enjoy my experience at Essentials. It's always clean and vibrant. I also enjoy the spa here.

My hair looks horrible!!! Nothing compared to how I wanted it!! Not to mention my scalp is on fire and my hair is sooo damaged after I asked if it would be damaged she said no. She didn't seem like she wanted to do my hair. I'm just soooooooo disappointed in how it came out. It looks very brassy and red, I wanted a cool ash brown. I paid way too much. I will never come here again for my hair!!!!! Horrible experience. The lady that did my hair was Kathryn. Very upset about my hair.

The spa is peaceful and always a treat. Christopher is the BEST for hair as he is always versed on new techniques and trends. I love the color products and process he uses that give my hair the depth that looks natural.

Love it! I've been given the Christmas spa package every year for the last 5 years... every time is wonderful. Diana has a lovely personality and I was so relaxed during my facial. I will be going back for prenatal massages with Irene. My neck hasn't felt this good in months. :) It would be nice if they got some new robes though.

I also want to say, that every time I have a question about products or services, everyone goes out of their way to be helpful and complete in their responses, not one person has made me feel rushed, so a big thank you to Demi who helped me last time.

(Review of their E salon on Stockdale) Paid $250 !! (a complete & total rip off) for them to not only damage my hair but to have me leave with my roots still showing as when I had first arrived to the appointment. Pursuing legal actions against salon since hairdresser (Allison from Porterville) quit instead of taking responsibility like a true & honest mature grown up professional would do, at the very least, to pay me back! Nor the salon offered for someone to fix it at their expense since they're responsible at this point nor anything at all besides a mere apology that doesn't do anything for me! This has interfered and delayed work projects for me, so now I will be pursuing legal actions against the establishment(s) for wasting my hair, time, money, and causing emotional distress during such a trying time especially. Hairdressers who I spoke to about getting it fixed after the damage was done were not much help after showing them an image of what I wanted. They kept suggesting completely different hair color options than what I was showing and requesting. All in all, a complete and utter waste of money & time. Avoid this salon as well as their salon in the Marketplace at all costs please. They seem to have more time to waste than to do hair properly of what is asked of them. Not professional at the very least. I ended up having to buy boxes of dye and having my husband do a far better job than Allison & their salons efforts. Completely disappointed & want the whole world to know about it! Steer clear of their salons!! A fair warning, learn from my horrific experience & avoid them at all costs! They don't prove to care for customer satisfaction nor their customers time or money. You absolutely couldn't pay me to have or keep my hair the way it was done (images on their Yelp pages for reference). Word has it they're closing their other location. That's no wonder since they have the worst service. 0 stars !!!

Missy at Essential Salon and Spa is the absolute BEST at cut and color. I never walk away from her chair dissatisfied. She is also one of the sweetest human beings I know. The entire Essentials staff is kind and attentive. I always enjoy my experience there!!

This was my first time visiting Essential spa, even though it s very close to my place.
Very clean and nice ambience. The staff is friendly.
But my all time favourite is Jeanette.
It s the second time I m getting my hair done by her & I absolutely love it, the color is not what I wanted but I still like it how it turned out.

The staff is awesome! Smiles and great attitudes! Jill has been my stylist for a few years and she is always such a joy to see, she keeps herself. up to date on new techniques and styles! Love her laugh, it s contageous! Definitely recommend Essentials if you are looking for a relaxing day spa experience. Great facials and massages, love receiving gift certificates every year from my husband!

What is not to love about being served wine and champagne with your beauty service. They send text reminders for your appointments. You are always greeted with multiple smiles upon arrival. They offer a plethora of beauty products and other fun things to shop for.

My boyfriend got me the Diva package for Mother s Day and I had never been to this particular spa before; but let me tell you, I loved it. First of all, the cute little blonde Hispanic girl at the front desk (I didn t get her name) was so kind and went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and comfortable. My step dad stopped by to grab my daughter s back pack and his phone had died and I was inside; the front desk girl (gosh I wish I had gotten her name) took my daughter s backpack and ran around the parking lot until she found him and then came back to assure me that everything was okay, my daughter had said hi and they were on their way. That was just one of many little things she did; A+ in customer service. Okay, so I went into the spa section which is just lovely. It s dim lighting, relaxing music, waterfalls, snacks, coffee, tea, water, champagne, etc. it just started off really great...but then there was the steam shower; which was complicated and I didn t want to ask for help and I should have, bc it was waaay too hot and I couldn t work it, next time I will ask because that was probably the only part I didn t enjoy and only because I burned myself. Anyway, Araceli did my full body massage, and she was so sweet. We had a good conversation but also I was very relaxed and felt great afterwards! Kelly did my facial, and she was just great! Seriously EVERY SINGLE PERSON in that place was so kind and welcoming, and just continuously checking to see if there was anything I needed. Then I had lunch, I ordered the California Chicken Sandwich, which was really good. Next I had a spa pedicure in the salon section of the spa with Kristyn; which was very relaxing. And she was so cute with her pregnant body. The entire experience was just amazing, I was supposed to have one more service but I moved it to next week bc it was getting late. I would totally recommend this place and it s service to others!

Horrible. I bought spa pkgs for me and my daughter for her birthday. When I bought them they told me they would serve sparkling cider instead of wine with our meal. Not only did they not give us sparkling cider they plopped us down without anything to drink and never came back to check on us. The lady that did my facial burned my face, the guy that gave me my message acted like he just wanted to leave and didn't even hardly message me. I had bought add ons for us and found out my daughter didn't get her foot message. We bought one of their recommended products which after I got home noticed they had given me a coupon in my pkg for a % off of any products I had bought. They didn't let me know so I could use it. Anyway was not impressed will not recommend and will not go back. It was a way over priced day spa experience for people to treat us like they didn't want our business and for the unpleasant out come.

I booked and appointment there for a facial for 11:30, then told me to come back at 1:30 because Melinda wasn't there. Afterwards they call me because someone else booked an appointment after me and said that she wouldn't have time. Worst experience ever. I do not recommend this location.

I've visited essentials spa several times for services including hair, facials and massages. I used to get my hair done by Raine. She was amazing but I stopped going there because the front sales clerk always made me feel inadequate when I wouldn't buy hundreds worth in products. Recently my husband purchased the spring fling spa package as a gift. The package included a 50 min facial, 50 min massage, make up and a treatment hair masque with blowout and style. The person that did the massage was 20 minutes late and I only received a 30 minute massage. As I was getting a facial the same woman degraded me several times because of the products I use on my face "when you are ready to use something professional use our products." The only positive to my experience was Brooke. She did an outstanding job on my make up and was extremely friendly and professional. I had a hair trim added to my package. I was charged $55 for a trim. The website says $60 for a haircut, blow dry and style. Apparently I paid twice for my blowout and style being that the package included blowout and style... $55 for a trim!! And the front desk clerk reassured me it was a discount because I got five dollars off. I left essentials feeling ripped off, belittled and anything but relaxed!
