Good except for last year's change of dental benefits. My dentist of 25 years quit accepting Essence's dental partner Dentaquest.
Sad to Essence go down hill.

My husband, in a wheelchair with a catheter attached, tried to get Essence transportation to give him a ride from the hospital which had discharged him, to a skilled nursing facility. We were told we would have to wait up to THREE HOURS for a ride, and they NEVER SHOWED UP.
This, in a major metropolitan area, and many phone calls; they don't have enough late afternoon/early evening drivers, and the ones they do have, book up their schedules. The supervisor, Mike, was worthless, and so was Joe. Customer service rep, Kim, the only good one of the lot, was really trying, but her hands were tied, because of poor transportation management. When the mgmt. can't help you, their excuse is "transportation isn't guaranteed". So this is how they wash their hands of you, and your real time problems.

I have nothing but praise for this co. My husband had a heart attack and was hospitalized. They never denied him of any healthcare he needed. More than went out of the way to provide great care. I'm so lucky to have this insurance.

We are so lucky to have this ins. Available to us. Our PCP and his staff are wonderful in referring us to excellent specialists, all treating us like people not cattle.

Best insurance ever. Low copays my prescriptions (generic) are free AND I can go to basically any gym I want for free.

If you're considering a policy through Essence for you or a loved one, DO NOT DO IT. This company is accepted by very few medical providers, and the list is rapidly shrinking because they make it so incredibly difficult for a provider or facility to provide care without a constant battle for payment, and swiftly denying coverage for vital services. When the providers get stiffed, so do patients, either financially or through the care they receive. There are much better plans out there! And by that, I mean Essence is about as bad as it gets.

Because Essence hasn't been paying on the services they commit to cover, many nursing/rehab centers, including the one I had always gone to, will no longer accept patients. And the one that did accept me sent me home while I was unable to care for myself... casts on both legs, and recovering from broken ribs and sternum. It's a miracle I am still alive. But it's an incredibly miserable experience. I filled a complaint and at least now I can change from Essence to traditional Medicare which I am told is best, by the facilities of which I will most likely return.

i just had a stroke, couldn't have been treated better during what are scary times. i am still finishing rehab, maybe 10 more days. when i told dr El tahir that it was difficult to thank someone for saving my life he said eric god saved you. my girlfriend also uses essence and recently had a total knee replacement, the result could not have been better

We have been members for over ten years. The service and doctors great. More ups than downs. Most of the other in our area are copying their model.

Essence Healthcare is one of the worst insurance companies they dont cover most prescription and cost my father over 40000 dollars when he was sick last year
