Stepping Away from the Norm

Stepping Away from the Norm

A light rain welcomed me back into town after my lighthouse trip. I needed to take a wee bit of the nip of cold off my chest and decided to dine at Erin s Snug.
Here s a tad bit of history that I learned while waiting on my meal. In Ireland, a pub is referred to as a public house or gathering place used for gossip, meetings even worship services. They were also living quarters that were expanded as needed. Erin is synonymous with Ireland. A snug is an alcove generally attached to the bar and accommodated women that did not want to be seen having a wee nip or two.

The dinner menu offers a wide category of items with plenty of selections under each. In Irish Specialties, I tried the Guinness Stew. Homemade tender beef stew in savory Guinness sauce that came topped with a puff pastry. A side salad comes with it. The meal was filling and just what was needed on a rainy Saturday evening.
Overall: The meal was worth it s price and left me satisfied for the remainder of the evening. Erin s Snug offers breakfast which I plan to try next.

Our first visit was just so-so. Hubby had the fish and chips, which was very good. 7yo daughter had the fish sandwich from the kids' menu, also very good. I had the whiskey bbq rib special; it was just okay. My mother-in-law had the broiled chicken; it was so overdone, she could barely pick anything off the bones. She said it also didn't taste fresh; she suspected they just reheated a leftover chicken from the day before. We did let the server know about the chicken and she removed it from our bill. It'll probably be awhile before we try Erin's again.

Unique and friendly atmosphere, great food (a little pricey). They have a bar, dining room, fireplace, comfortable seating, and lovely artwork throughout. Great for a dinner date or large group event. I would recommend calling in advance for reservations on weekends.

This place has really gone down the tubes, even on a Friday night. The steak is of a quality compared to highway side diners, the beer options couldn't be more standard and all of their prices are comically high. I had a nice server though!

I was a bit disappointed. While I heard their food was great I found the food was only so-so. I ordered my burger medium-rare and it came well done. The pub fries were also only lukewarm like they had been sitting up for awhile before being served.

Okay food but great place to meet up with people, have a drink, and spend time talking without feeling rushed or bothered by staff looking for you to order something or move on. Big dining room and even outdoor seating during the summer.

Great customer service.

Visited yesterday after receiving a suggestion to try this place. We sat outside and was helped by Katie. She was awesome, and nothing short of spectacular! We tried several dishes which included: WIngs, ribs, sampler platter (cannot recall the exact name), and the reuben sandwich. All were fantastic. We will definitely be back, and sooner than later.

Any new area I get a chance to be around one of the first things I look for is an Irish pub. Out of the ones I've visited to date, this place has it all and sets the standard for how the others I've seen needs to get at.

The first thing that impressed me is how well it captures the Irish culture. The structural appearance and interior ambiance was very appealing. I could tell right away that it's a first rate place that can accommodate any setting (casual dining, small family nights out, sports enthusiasts, etc).

I was also impressed with the expanded options for various black and tans/half and half drinks. Those are my go to's for a drink order, and I go to an Irish pub since I know they'll provide the best quality mix. The bartender I had the pleasure of talking to, Paul, was very knowledgeable and provided plenty of insights on their black and tan options. He was also kind enough to give me pointers on things to do in the Madison area, and showed me around the dining/bar areas a little bit as we talked. Very personable.

Lastly, the food: I can only speak for the reuben sandwich I got, but this classic Irish dish hit the spot. By far the best one I've had to date. I can definitely say I'll be frequenting this pub more while in the area.

TL;DR I highly encourage anyone looking at this to check this place out. Great atmosphere, awesome food/drinks/options, and friendly inviting staff. You won't be disappointed.

We haven t been to Erin s since Covid and it was great to go back! Anyone who goes here has to get the wings, we always get them naked with Buffalo on the side. I would say best wings in the area. Today I ordered a burger and my husband got the salmon sandwich, first time getting these sandwiches. My burger was a perfect medium as requested and you can tell they make their own patties and the seasoning is on point. The salmon sandwich was delicious and the dill sauce came on the side which is ideal. We love sitting at the bar and by the time we left the outdoor bar was open as well and it s a great outdoor space. As usual, the owner Jerry made an appearance, just a great guy! I definitely recommend Erin s not only for the food and drink but the atmosphere as well.

For appetizers we had corned beef Shalaylee and French Onion soup. Both lacked flavor and I believe were left sitting under a heat lamp as they were warm when they got to us. The smothered fried chicken was good for an entree. Service was lacking only saw waitress when food and Bill were dropped off. Not a good experience.

I'm one of those vegans (don't hate I'm not an evangelical vegan). This place has a cool Irish vibe to the atmosphere and some legit looking Irish food options. That said, not a lot I can eat (a few salads, sides, and a walnut burger). Friendly staff and full bar with some funky Guinness drinks.

Just went for an after work cocktail. This is definitely not the place to do that. The bar was so open the obnoxious girl accross the room could be heard no problem. Drinks were pricey (boyfriend got a Pepsi and it was $4!!), Service was lackluster at best. Overall don't think I'd go back for any reason.

Food was delicious. A bit pricier than it should be, but the ambiance made up for it. If weather permits, the outdoor patio is one of the best to eat at in the area.

The specials each day are worth checking out too (I got the prime rib special and it was fantastic)!

Cozy. Beautiful woodwork. Lots of well decorated rooms. Central bar with heavy wooden decor. Snug booths seating 4-6 comfortably that allow for private conversation. The menu is very large. We tried the pulled pork sandwich, the Reuben and a burger. Plus French onion soup, a caeser salad, a house salad, and pub chips. All were very good. We will definitely be going back!

Typical American style Irish Pub - like something from an amuse t park. It looks authentic until you look closer, nothing about the sounds, smells, atmosphere, or food is remotely familiar to actual Irish pubs.

Layout of the building is a bit perplexing but the food and drinks and Excellent outdoor bar more than make up for it. Great after work spot for the local business park. Try the shepherd's pie.

Yesterday was the first time we visited this good restaurant. But It is absolutely not the last. We had great time with the good service, with the first-rate meal and booze and with the friendly cost. We will no doubt visit there soon.

Amazing, fun, cool, clean, frendly, big,, just a few words to start. This place was so much fun and the staff was great too!!! Rachel (our waitress) was just an absolute sweetheart and fun hostess. I wish i had an irish pub like this back home in Maryland. Keep up the good work. I will definitely come back next time im in Wisconsin.

Amazing shepherd's pie. My boyfriend had the maihi maihi salad and said it was great too. We went on a sunday and there was bloody Mary's for $4.75. The atmosphere is very nice. Will definitely stop here again.

My family came here for lunch and had a great time. Excellent corned beef, not the prepackaged rubbery kind, but the real deal. Great service and reasonable prices, especially considering how much food we got! We plan on eating here again next time we are in town.

The hostess was a total snot...then they forgot part of the order and when I could not even find someone to fix it I was told, later, by the waitress that .. well it's Sunday...food was ok but service sucked...Sunday or not.

Wish I wouldn't have been so tired! The food was great (try the stew) and the server was wonderful! Loved the atmosphere and can't wait to go back in the summer to enjoy a cold one on the patio!
