Stepping Away from the Norm

Stepping Away from the Norm

A light rain welcomed me back into town after my lighthouse trip. I needed to take a wee bit of the nip of cold off my chest and decided to dine at Erin s Snug.
Here s a tad bit of history that I learned while waiting on my meal. In Ireland, a pub is referred to as a public house or gathering place used for gossip, meetings even worship services. They were also living quarters that were expanded as needed. Erin is synonymous with Ireland. A snug is an alcove generally attached to the bar and accommodated women that did not want to be seen having a wee nip or two.

The dinner menu offers a wide category of items with plenty of selections under each. In Irish Specialties, I tried the Guinness Stew. Homemade tender beef stew in savory Guinness sauce that came topped with a puff pastry. A side salad comes with it. The meal was filling and just what was needed on a rainy Saturday evening.
Overall: The meal was worth it s price and left me satisfied for the remainder of the evening. Erin s Snug offers breakfast which I plan to try next.
