It's okay. Not really worth the hype. Better Italian places in Austin.
It's okay. Not really worth the hype. Better Italian places in Austin.
It blows my mind that on a Sunday I can pass by three different places with long lines and get much better food here for the same cost without having to wait. Seriously, the Benedicts are all outstanding.
Lovely place, totally worth the higher prices. The desserts alone are worth popping in for.
I would give this place 10 stars if I could. It is my absolute FAVORITE restaurant in all of Austin. I have to say I'm not a huge Italian food eater, I usually go for Mexican but this place is so amazing. The lasagna is to die for - you won't be disappointed.
And the manager there is really amazing. That guy knows what he's doing. He always comes by our table and remembers me :)
Best Italian we've had outside Italy, every bit as good as most we've eaten at IN Italy! Must go for great Italian food, salsiccia pizza is awesome.
Local favorite of mine!! This is a great place for happy hour (check out their SoCo Cosmo!!) & some appetizers (meatballs or mini pizza) YUMS!! Or lunch and perfect for dinner...with a small group of friends or your better half.
The staff is really wonderful and so helpful! I've been here a number of times and have never been disappointed! On really nice nights, I suggest the outdoor patio. Just an all-around beautiful place! I guarantee you'll fall in love with this place!
After years of hearing about this place I finally got the chance to check it out. To be honest, I was let down.
The "carbonara" I ordered was Angel hair pasta with Alfredo sauce and pancetta diced up. It was not carbonara.. the Caesar salad I ordered sat on the wooden shelf that shared the opposite side of the wall from the kitchen. It sat there for a good 10 minutes before they brought it to me. The only reason I know this is because they sat us right next to kitchen where I could see the dishes sit on the pass.
In my opinion.. not worth the price. Andiamo off Burnet Rd may not be as cool/hip but the food is, in my opinion a lot better.
Get Italian restaurant on South Congress. Their brunch is amazing, I got the french toast and it was phenomenal. They make their own blood mary mix, it is chunky but good. They have amazing canolis and espresso.
Great food, great service, a definite must visit when I'm in the area.
Yet to get my food but already feel like leaving because of the rude behavior be a waitress
Just had dinner on our stay in Austin. Primo food and primo service too! The daily soup, creamed brocolli was stellar!! Will deff. Be back if we come through again!!
This is a fabulous lunch spot! You must just must try the risotto balls and the gnocchi arrabatia is phenomenal. I highly recommend.
Delicious fresh made pasta at a reasonable price. Friendly service, nice ambience in a cool part of town. Would definitely recommend.
Great food and wine for reasonable price but not very customer friendly.
Excellent food and service! Quality of food was top notch! Will be back soon for sure!.
I love this place. I've spent more time and money here, than possibly any other restaurant.
I mourned, when I heard of a change in ownership.
Last week, the manager made a rude comment to me in front of other customers. The only time I've had a remotely negative experience in this place. I've mentioned it to others in the SOCO community, and a few acknowledged a less welcoming feel as well. Not from the mainstay wait and bar staff, but from host and management.
I then messaged their Facebook to describe the situation. It was read without response.
The old owner built a restaurant on community, care and awesome food.
The new owners seem to care for nothing more than the money built from that base.
I have hope that I can change this review.
Never ever had a negative experience here. Their pasta is all made from scratch, the butternut squash ravioli and lasagna are a must. Excellent wine selection and a stunning but cozy atmosphere.
Very expensive for what you get. Not very authentic or fresh tasting.. Service was not good either.
Was recommended while we were in town. Easy going atmosphere with attentive staff and good portions. Reasonable cost.
Holy Cats - try the scallops - they are to die for. Really good food and meticulous service. Very good wine list.
They have great pasta and garlic bread. Not quite casual but not fancy
It's a great date spot, the specials menu always has great options, and the service is always 5 star. If you are lucky enough to be there when they are serving Rosemary martinis, you owe it to yourself to give it a try.
SO good! When we come here, we like to sit out on the patio and dine with about a group of 6-10 people. Wait staff is very attentive to needs and the food is always reliably delicious. It is Italian with a little American flare. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to one (or several) of the delicate desserts!
Incredible Italian food, with great service and outdoor seating (before the cold front moves in--not sure if they have patio heaters). It was my wife's birthday dinner. We had a beautiful and leisurely time there, from appetizer to dessert, and everything in between, with leftovers to go. She said it was the best Italian food she's had in a few years.
Prices are good. Great place to go for a girls night.
Rude arrogant host. Never going back. Could not admit error.
Slightly on the cramped and crowded side out very tasty charcuterie and pasta (we had lobster ravioli and carbonara)
Amazing food, excellent service, and cool atmosphere. We had a terrific experience.
Best & favorite ltalian restaurant. Great menu selection. Can get loud if full but nice ambiance. Do not recommend sitting at table next to the coffee maker...too much noise!
Nice decor. A good menu but very pricey. Maybe too pricey.
Really honestly, if this is the place i think it is, then i remember the food being fabulous but not just italian. Go anyway and find out. Oh and great art, they had great art
I went there with my family and had an enjoyable meal. Our waitress was engaging and attentive. Everything we had was delicious!
The food is decent but very overpriced, and the service was pretty good as well.
Kitchen closes at 9! I ve been here before and the food is amazing.my boyfriend and I shouted up at literal 9:03 and we were told the kitchen is already closed. Why are you hours 4-10 then? Really ridiculous. Ruined our date night.
Fav Italian restaurant in the city. Awesome smart wine selection. Awesome ambience. Try the risotto balls.
My favorite Italian place. An excellent value for homemade and imported pasta. Definitely get the Supli starter. Good wine, cocktail, and European beer options. If none of the rotating specials tempt you the pappardelle bolognese is always exceptional.
Pretty cool spot, with a great happy hour menu. Delicious Italian fare. My Italian friend loves to go here when she's in town, so that should tell you something.
Pretty good food, if not just a little over priced. Good atmosphere - something a little different on Congress.
Other than having slow wait staff, this is a good little eatery. It seems to be a lot of the basic Italian food but they do a good job at it. They have a few items that add flare to the menu. They don't have a huge wine list but what they have isn't bad.
We had a great time at Vespaio last evening... everyone at the table had a different entree and we all sampled each other's plate. We had the Bolognese, the Caesar Salad, the Meatball Sandwich and the Carbonara. They were all perfect; my favorite was the Bolognese. We also tried desserts as well. Again, very good. Parking was easy, friendly staff. A definite recommend for here.
Absolutely delicious. Had a wonderful 'perfect duck mousse pate and Italian canoli. Highly recommended. Happy hour is a great time at Enoteca Vespaio on South Congress
I used to love this restaurant. It seems something has changed. The drinks were not nearly as good. The waitress said they hired a new bartender so drinks we used to get couldn't be made. I had to ask for additional ingredients to make the one I did get taste decent. The service was a bit disappointing. There were only 4 tables with people and we had long waits, even for simple items like bread. On the upside the food was still good, meats, pastas and most appetizers. The pizza was not as good as before, quite dry, and the calamari was practically tasteless. But everything else was good. So it was disappointing because it used to be a serious gem in Austin but with the changes made it is now just ok. This is Enoteca, not the Vespaio side.
Went here for my birthday tonight and was very delighted with the food. Very nice and friendly staff as well! They let me choose a complimentary dessert, so I chose the zeppole and it was amazing!
My boyfriend and I visited this place for an early Valentine's day dinner. We tried the lobster ravioli which was amazing and a good sized portion.
Amazing food! Outstanding service! Wonderful wine list!
It's about the food, dude. As good as it gets. Truly remarkable chef. Wonderful food and excellent and fairly priced wine list. We took our grandson and his girlfriend to Vespaio for his graduation. It was a first visit for all four of us and we couldn't believe that our "foodie in development" grandson had missed it during his stint at UT. Rather plain but attractive and comfortable decor. Friendly and helpful service. But remember what a restaurant is really about. This one serves truly great food.
I have never uttered these words before, and I don't do so lightly.....this is simply the best restaurant I've ever been to. I actually drive from Houston once a month just to dine there. I have yet to eat anything there that cannot be defined as divine. try the Wagyu beef hash for Sunday brunch. Or the French toast. Get some hot coppa and Greek salad to take home from the deli, and maybe a chocolate mousse. You would have to be completely ignorant of taste not to leave this place and sigh with content. Great job, whoever the chef and owners are, along with the rest of the staff. This is the way dining out should be!
Riley and everyone are amazing. Please come to see this bar and meet some friends. Give them all a raise please.
My favorite Italian restaurant(s) in town. I've been here for brunch, lunch, dinner, and dessert and each time has been amazing. I love their pizza with a fried egg on top.
small restaurant that doesn't take reservations.that sentence usually makes me run the other way.glad i didn't on this one.beautifully prepared italian food.love the veal.go early and during the week, but go. you'll be glad you did.
Excellent customer service! Good-sized portions & reasonably priced! 1 pizza, 1 chicken parmesan plate, 2 beverages, & 2 deserts all that for about $50. Not bad! Everything tasted delicious! 4-6 pm they have happy hour, so they have some items from their menu at a lower price.
Very good Italian food. I was skeptical at first but the reviews are accurate. The pastas are so fresh and bound with so much flavor that I definitely want to go back for more. Had the lasagna, and it's probably one of the best I've had ever. Be sure to come early, it can get pretty crowded on the weekends.
The atmosphere is bar service was great, but I was told I would need to wait 20 minutes, and 50 minutes later multiple tables were open and I hadn't heard anything from the hostess. I ended up going somewhere else, but may come back some day to get food.
1) Gem of a place for lunch. 5 Stars
2) Food excellent 5 Stars
3) Awesome service person 5 Stars
4) Atmosphere like a neighborhood cafe in NY city 5 Stars
5) Deserts worth going easy on main meal 5 Stars
5) Definitely going back 5 Stars
Improvement can be made by going easy on salt for us heart healthy folks. Manager was very respective for on the spot feedback..
This is a great restaurant. The Italian food was great and delicious with quick service. The staff was friendly, polite and attentive and offer reasonable price. I would highly recommend them.
We had a wonderful experience at Vespacio. The staff was very quick and professional though they did seem a little overwhelmed at times. The manager also provided excellent service. The dishes were all perfect and I appreciated the free parking in back. We will certainly return.
LOVE this place. We visited the Enoteca on a Saturday night and we only had about a 30 minute wait. They call your cell phone about 5 minutes before your table is ready so you can walk up and down Congress while you wait.
The food was AWESOME. It totally reminds me of the little pasta places in Italy. They have an awesome dessert counter, too. Plus, after you have dinner, they have little cookies available, too, so you don't have to get a huge dessert.
Our food took a while, but the staff apologized several times, which was appreciated. Overall, great atmosphere and food - will definitely be back!
Excellent Italian food. I had the shrimp scampi which was prepared perfectly. Great taste, great service, I would go back for sure.
Delicious food, and the place just SMELLS heavenly. Service was a bit slow (and a little aloof), and it's very loud, bad acoustics -- otherwise would have been 5 stars!
The food was okay, not really impressed with the pasta
Excellent food choices and wine choices plus amazing service. Thank you for helping us celebrate our anniversary!!
I like this place. Really great italian food but it is a little to expensive and over crowded. South congress has gotten pretty busy over the years. But you should definately come to this restaurant at least once.
Fresh tomato sauce. Everything was fine and a great cannoli
Italian here is delish! Memorable. Very good wine selection.
The spinach benedict is one of my favorite benedicts of all time
Great food, great service, just as always! Here is to the next 20 yrs!
I go there weekly! Love this place, the food, and the service!
I ate here for brunch and it was delicious! I'm vegetarian, and they had nice options for me. The scramble with tallegio cheese, spinach and mushrooms is delicious, and very rich. I got it with the polenta, which was delicious, but maybe a bit too rich when combined with the scramble. I think I'd go for the potatoes next time, which I've had before & are also delicious. The service was fantastic and friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting.
Thank God we discovered this place for brunch! Their brunch is amazing and I would totally go back in a heart beat! I have not tried their lunch or dinner yet because I am so stuck on their brunch.
Nice place, great food and service, I love that they have a parking lot...
This place is in my top 5 for Austin
It s right on south congress and the food is flavorful. Next door is a bit more upscale, but I prefer the enoteca side.
They have complimentary valet to offset the busy SoCo streets also
I live in the neighborhood and it s my go to place when I want to take friends or family out when they re visiting. We usually walk down the block afterwards or take a quick uber downtown
The bottled wine prices aren t bad either
Decent Italian food...service was a little off, but they made up for it with free dessert.
My 2nd time here. Did it again. Food was great and i took some of the pepper shooters home with me.
