I can't recommend this place for a variety of reasons. I took my MacBook Pro there to have the battery replaced. It was 50% higher than the Apple Store's price. They also told me when dropping it off that it was going to be about $50 less than what it ended up being. Apple's cost quoted $200. They told me originally $250. It ended up being $300 (like $299.23).

That said, I believe the $50 discrepancy was simply an honest mistake on the young lady's part. They were prompt with the repair and it took about a week. The set timing expectations and lived up to that standard.

The secondary issue, which both presents a value issue and quality issue is that my hard drive was toast when I got the machine back. I had to return it again to have the hard drive replaced. I don't think they are a chop shop nor was anything intentional about this. It happened, but at the same time, I think they could have caused it and should have taken some onus for it.

To the repair of the drive: they were nice about it, but just said there's nothing they did that could have caused it. It was more happenstance than not they put it. I understand that it's possible that it just went, but it sorta a poor response. Just happens seems like it may have an expediting component.

In fairness: They discounted the drive during replacement nor charged me labor to be fair and did the repair quickly. That said, my drive was fine when I dropped it off. I took time off for work to replace it, plus my total bill was $150 more than at Apple (vs $200 for battery only).

Value and quality are questionable. I'd stick with just sending it to Apple next time.

I wanted to take advantage of Apple's discounted rate to replace my iPhone battery. The Apple website steered me to Encore Technologies, which seemed to have the benefit of not having to go to the Apple Store. I set up an appointment. The next day Encore sent me an email confirming my time, which was different than what I signed up for. I corrected the time (no big deal) and then asked "just to check, I am getting the $29 replace battery program through Apple?"

Encore's response stated "Please send us the serial # of your phone and we can check with Apple to see if the battery would be under the replacement plan," which I did minutes after the request. Four days later I had not heard back from Encore, so I went to the appointment.

When I arrived the man at the desk informed me that Encore does not do $29 battery replacements, but that they are $60+ (even though this is not specified on the Apple website nor on the confirmation email from Apple nor in the confirmation email from Encore!). I showed him the email from Encore requesting my serial # (which, again, I sent you), and he said that I should take it up with "Global Headquarters."

This was entirely avoidable: a simple response to my email from Encore informing me why they cannot offer the $29 replacement would have done the trick. Instead, their response suggested that assuming I had a phone covered under Apple's discounted repair plan (I do) I would get the rate. That was misleading and false. The upshot is that I wasted half an hour of my workday for a totally avoidable reason. It's a lack of transparency that I wouldn't expect to get away with at my work.

My MacBook Pro needed a costly repair, and Kevin with Encore's location off Kennedy Ave in Norwood was able to diagnosis the issue and fix it. There were no hidden fees, or fees for the initial assessment, and they were able to hold on to my computer until I was able to pay them. The service was top-notch, friendly, and prompt; I found my experience here to be infinitely better than any I've had at the Apple Store in Kenwood. If you're having issues with your Mac, be sure to pay these guys a visit!

Battery was overheating. I called Apple and they said it was too old. Called computer DNA and they wanted $600 to replace the battery.
Encore not only resolved my issue but upgraded my system to the latest OS and now it works great. Very reasonably priced as well! I highly recommend Encore!
