From the moment I walked through the door the staff impressed me. Dr Kaiser handled my dog with care and explained diagnosis and treatment plan clearly. My dog genuinely liked her. Kurt, the tech, gave my Chihuahua fluids and she didn't even flinch when he put the needle in! The office staff was friendly and courteous. When you have a sick animal you really appreciate getting this high level of care.
I feel so much better knowing that these fine people are close by and always available for my two dogs. We've needed their help several times and each time have been pleased with their level of expertise and quality of service. Having a nice waiting room and beverages is greatly appreciated too.
The staff was absolutely amazing especially when it came to the costs as it is fairly pricey. You definitely get what you pay for. My fur baby is 7 months old and got pneumonia (we just adopted him and he aspirated the phlegm from his cold) and they took excellent care of him! Very please will be using again the future (hopefully don t have to!).
If I could rate this at -5 s I would. Our dog has had seizures for 2 years now, understanding that he may never be considered a controlled patient. The only reason why we brought our dog to this facility was because our current neurologist at Lakeshore moved out of state. I would NEVER recommend any one to bring their epileptic dog or cat or animal of any type to this facility. Even knowing that during COVID many neurologists quit causing an increase in the demand for continued care for your epileptic pets. The way this facility provides a lack of service or even denying any sort of responsibility for their actions is unacceptable.
The reason being: The neurologist staff honestly do not care about your animal even though they state that they do. They are unwilling to assist in proper care of your animal during an emergency. If you would like to spend hours of your day calling them to remind them every single hour that you are out of the emergency medication and that you are in need of a refill multiple times a week... Then this is the place for you!
You will have a lot of fun speaking with the neurologist team every day (including weekends) and even multiple times a day. Things you can expect: after seeing the doctor she will be very knowledgeable polite and prescribed a 16 pill quantity for an emergency medication. Then when you re running out of the medication due to the lack of quantity prescribed in the first place, the neurologist team will ask you to provide a seizure log for every seizure before they will consider your refill request. (This seems reasonable, however you will then spend hours of your day emailing them a seizure log almost every day to find that they are not reading them and/or that they are skimming the emails that you send.) You can also expect that you will NOT get a refill request until the end of the day after you are out of medication for your pet. You can even leave an email for them to receive the next morning as well as following up with a phone call right when they open. Even when trying to be proactive, they will still WAIT until the end of the day to review your case. The sense of urgency is just impeccable!
The best part is when you explain that you are providing the emergency medication as described on on the prescription bottle within every email, the team will most likely ignore this. Then when your pet starts to have seizures once every 24 hours for 2 weeks straight, you get to have fun conversations with the staff explaining that the 16pill quantity is not ideal. They will do anything they can to blame the pharmacy or the pharmacist for placing incorrect directions on the medication bottle. (If you are prescribing a medication with no refills each time, then this would require the doctor to write out the instructions every time on the script that is sent to the pharmacy. The pharmacy will have the instructions listed on a paper trail via fax from the doctor which are copied onto the medication label.) Even when you called WVRC to have them walk you through how to dispense the medication they confirm it is exactly how it is written on the bottle. But just wait, it gets better. They will inform you months later that you had been providing the medication incorrectly all along. So when you confront them you can listen to them try and blame as much as they can on the pharmacy.
Mind you, the emergency medication that needs to be provided to your pet will make you sleep deprived. Since you still are required to work your full time job, ensure you provide the emergency dose every 6 hours on top of providing the normal 4x a day medication regiment.
Needless to say, if you want to end up arguing with WVRC every day due to their own doing and spending endless hours of your day following up with them to ensure they follow through on their end then you will love spending your time here.
The doctor and staff are amazing. They took the time to take care of my pet when my clinic didin't have the time to take care of my dog. We had to take her back every day for bandage changes over the New Year's weekend. The girls up front knew who we were when we walked in. The technicians always had a smile on there faces when they came to get Addison. It was an awesome experience from start to finish. Dr Jacob's was so kind to Addison and gentle with her.
WVRC was great with my kitten. Dr. Miller, Dr. Rudich, and Dr. Schamberger were great communicators throughout the whole stay. Thanks again!
Dr Brown was so great and took good care of my puppy and made us feel very informed. The receptionists were so helpful as well. After all was said and done the cost was very low, I got to bring my little guy home and he is recovering fast! Thank you Dr Brown and team! We appreciate all that you did!
Excellent doctors. Takes the time and patients to explain everything and helps you anyway they can. Staff is very pleasant and helpful.
It has been over 2 years since I brought Sparrow in with stomach tenderness. The entire 2 days that she spent in the hospital she was being treated for stomach problems. On Monday morning I got a call that she was fine and ready to be picked up. But when I arrived 2 hours later her hind quarters were paralyzed and 8 hours later I had her put down because I could not afford the $6K surgery to work on her spine. Two years have passed and I still feel that Sparrow received subpar care. Didn't anybody on staff over those 2 days consider herniated disc issues on her - a long backed dog. That was what killed her and it should have been ruled out in my opinion. I felt that the staff was polite and caring.
Staff are very caring, they call frequently to give updates. The vets take time to explain the situation, treatment course, cost etc. Would highly recommend
Disappointed that they refused to listen to my initial request for an antibiotic shot after suturing my pet. Disappointed that they declined to provide liquid antibiotic instead supplying enormous pills $36 worth-unable to get down pet's tiny throat. Finally, called to complain two days later and they now agreed to liquid antibiotic for another $40 (total bill now over $600). I have picked up liquid and used once. No reimbursement for the unused pills in individual foil pouches. Saw family vet today to check on things and given multi-day antibiotic injection - hassle free. What to do with $76 of unused antibiotics? Wasteful. To think I requested the injection to begin with...sure seems like squeezing every dime out of ppl is a must at the ER.
WVRC staff were all kind, clear, and professional at every step. I was concerned that my dog would be anxious and upset to be left overnight but she was relaxed and happy whenever I visited. I appreciate the genuine care and personal touch shown by everyone.
Under very scary circumstances I had to transport my dog Enzo from my vets in Elkhorn to WVRC in Waukesha. Enzo was in acute heart failure. He needed oxygen cage, IV lasix & close observation overnight. My local vets are wonderful but are not set up for 24/7 care & he had not responded well enough to their treatments thru the day.
I had never gone to another vet in decades so had no idea what to expect. Upon arrival the technicians met us & whisked Enzo off triage style, allowing me to give him one quick kiss. Front desk staff were professional but compassionate. Met with the doctor after Enzo s initial intake. Doctor was professional, compassionate and explained things very clearly & provided me with an estimate range as well as explained the down payment. Having special needs/aging horses & 2 aged dogs, I m quite used to veterinary costs (& honestly envy our animals for their fair medical care costs!) I found the estimate range to be very fair for saving my Enzo s life! Doctor explained they would call with updates later that night & again in the morning. As I left I paid the down payment & upon seeing my distress at leaving my little Enzo, the office staff reminded me the phones are manned 24/7 so I could call in for more updates beyond the scheduled.
Just as promised, they updated me that night & again in the morning with clear details. I then received a call that while normally they would keep him a bit longer for observation they felt the stress of being there was raising his blood pressure & he would do better resting at home.
We arrived to pick him up and received a very detailed discharge report (better then my son or I ever received after a hospital stay!) and a nurse went through it with me point by point & asked if I had any questions & answered those clearly. She then reminded me that I could call back at anytime if I thought of more questions. They brought Enzo out & he was clean & well cared for & breathing normally. Never been so happy to see that little face.
AND as I prepared to pay the remainder of my bill, I was told I was due a REFUND! Not only did my down payment cover the treatments, x-rays, overnight hospitalization, doctors, nurses & technicians time but I got a REFUND (& a pretty healthy one too!) all on top of saving my little Enzo s life!! I nearly fell over.
I ve read some of the other reviews on here & I m appalled by some of them. Money hungry only in it for the money - Wow... seriously astonishing. We as humans can only wish to get the dedicated & fair priced medical care that our loved animals receive at the hands of these wonderful dedicated veterinarians! I only wish there were more veterinarians available to enable more 24/7 animal hospitals but there s a shortage because it s a damn tough job, not only because your animal clients can t verbalize how they are feeling but because some of the animal owners are downright abusive because they have totally unrealistic expectations.
The only bad part of my experience was the 2 hour+ round trip drive during the weekend before Christmas & the crazy aggressive drivers. Wish we had a WVRC down here in Lake Geneva!
Anyway THANK YOU WVRC for being there to save my Enzo s life. You all are amazing & appreciated beyond measure!! If I could give more stars I would give you the Milky Way!! Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!
Everyone reading this... take a moment to thank a veterinarian today!
A warm, caring staff, and exceptional pet heath care. It is comforting to know these folks are here for you and your best friend(s).
Once again, the amazing specialist and vet technicians took great care of my 2 Chihuahuas. Tony was critical and they saved his life! Pixie was sick and they took great care of her too! Thank you all!! Lynette G
Every single person was incredible with us and our dog. Fast, convenient, very professional and personable! I trusted them with my dog 100% even meeting them for the first time. They have helped other pets for my family members and were wonderful every time. Will be back with any issue my pets will face in the future!
This place is amazing and I believe based on my experiences that they 100% have the best interest of the pet at heart. Yes, it is a little pricier than some other vets, but they also let me know exactly what I should expect to spend for the visit when I made the appointment and then they explained that any medications prescribed or procedures that they may choose to run while I was here would be additional. That being said, however, they were very conscientious, and even after they knew that I had the top-of-the-line pet insurance to cover most medical bills that might come up, they did not run any tests during the visit and instead just prescribed some medication (which wasn't super-expensive) to see how things went for a few weeks before seeing if it would be necessary to move on to additional procedures. For those who are concerned about the cost of a vet visit, I would also recommend to anyone who has adopted/found/purchased a pet that they get pet insurance (and Nationwide pet insurance is a great choice!), because things can go wrong, pets can get sick, accidents happen, etc., and if you want top-quality care for your pet (which I believe WVRC provides), then you shouldn't be looking for a vet that just provides a "good deal" or feel forced to make a decision about your pet's care that is driven by what it will cost you.
I was very impressed with WVRC. The doctor (Dr. Hurley) really took her time to talk to us regarding every detail to make sure we felt comfortable with the decision we made for our pet. Our dog ended up having TPLO surgery on both back legs. The staff followed up with us regularly letting us know how our dog was doing while our dog stayed with them during his recovery. The staff really showed how much they care and how much animals really do mean to them.
WVRC saved my dog's life. She had an obstruction and was septic. I am so grateful for their skilled care!
Everyone was so nice and understanding even though they were extremely busy. Treated my dog like their own and I was very happy that he wasn't scared or nervous after leaving. Thank you!
I called at 3:30pm concerning the health of my dogs, my call went to a voicemail which stated that their business hours were until 4pm and to leave a message with my information and my call would be returned within 24 hours. I always repeat my number twice when leaving messages to be certain that it is understandable so there us no excuse as to why I did not get a call back. I waited TWO days with no call back so I called again around 2:30pm this time and again my call went to voicemail. This time I left my number and email. I waited two more days with no callback. I went to their website and left my information under their "Contact Us" section. Its now been over a week and I still have not recieved a call or email from them. What if I was calling about an emergency? TERRIBLE customer service!
The vet technician becky was absolutely amazing with my little man waylon! Dr. Michelle Custead did everything she could to help waylon. I would highly recommend her to anyone that has a furbaby going through cancer. She's truly the best. Extremely caring.
We have been here a few times over the years and two out of three times I have left extremely disappointed with the level of compassion and service. Aside from the very caring front desk staff, the care was clinical and cold. I really hope they read this review and re-consider how they treat their pet parents, especially as we are the ones paying.
Do not give this company a deposit check. We did and then we walked in with payment in full the next day. They said they would shred our deposit check, but did not. It has been more then a week and they still have not refunded over $800.00. We are being told we have to wait another week. Unacceptable.
Very dedicated, caring staff. They loved our two dogs almost as much as us. Clearly provided detailed options for treating their cancers with pros and cons. We highly recommend WVRC to all our friends.
Very thorough, prompt, compassionate, with the challenge of needing to help a very anxious and fearful older diabetic dog. the ER vet laid out cost, options, reviewed results and helped us arrive at a good decision for procedure (endoscopy), with very good outcome.
We were so grateful for the speed and care that we received from the second we called WVRC. The people were kind, patient and quickly helped our pup get all stitched back up. In and out in less than 2 hours! Would highly recommend!
The doctors and communication was great. They took great care of our cat and we couldn't be happjer.
Dr Balog and her internal staff continue to make my girl Charlie during her last month's comfortable. Dr.Balog saved Charlie's life when she was 8 years old. She is now 12 and have given us many more happy and good times with her. She is slowing down she now has a mass in her liver I do not know what I will do when she is not here. Charlie is my everything. She is a person with fur. love to WVCR.
We have always received exceptional care for our dogs at wvrc. We feel they genuinely care about our dogs. Thank you for such great care!!
I gave you a 7 out of 10 because I prefer to go to my own vet. That said, every time I've brought a dog to you, the service was professional and compassionate. I would like to see more 'wait-and-see' with pain pills to help my pups through the injury. In two visits to WVRC, that was all that was needed. In another, you brought my dog through a scary situation that no amount of pain pills could have helped. I'd probably give you a higher rating if the cost wasn't so breath-taking.
Dr. Williams was great to work with and took good care of my Ryker. The staff provides excellent service and makes you feel welcomed and comfortable.
Awesome emergency veterinary care! Compationate and sympathetic to owners of pets with dire medical and emergency needs!
I have used WVRC at least a dozen times over the years. I have always had wonderful caring service. This last time they went above and beyond to move some appointments so my dog could be seen sooner.
Staff was great and friendly. They did a nice job trying to expedite my visit and get me out quickly even though they were dealing with several much higher priority cases. For example they came out to the waiting room and took an ear swap so they could start checking it while I was waiting. In appreciated that
I was shocked and a little sad that anyone would find it funny that I would seek emergency medical treatment for a pet Rooster. The gal on the phone had a quick laugh at my expense and said that if I had a dog or cat I could bring it in but they would not treat a chicken. I had been there with my dog in the past and was basically satisfied but today I'm worried about my daughters Swedish Flower Hen rooster "Fonzie" who just turned a year old and may or may not survive the weekend. It's very difficult to watch an animal that you've raised suffering and WVRC was lacking compassion and totally insensitive. Still not sure what to tell my 4th grade daughter about her bird but I definitely don't want her to know that the gal at WVRC thinks it's funny and told us to go away. Swedish Flower Hen's are a rare and endangered breed and if this one dies due to this vet's willful neglect he will be missed. :(
Edit:
The picture is from the emergency vet in Jefferson county. They got him through the night until I could get our bird the antibiotics he needed to resolve his illness and get him breathing again.
They worked my dog in no problem and gave out pricing early so I could decide when I could work in surgery best for him and my budget with no surprises! They are also super thoughtful and even check in on your dog after you get them home to know they are doing okay! I also loved that after surgery I was able to stop in and see him before going home for bed that night! Being a dog Mom that meant the world to me to see him when we rarely spend nights apart!
I always receive high-quality service from WVRC. The entire staff is wonderful and the care for my pets is exceptional.
My recent visit to WVRC was very successful for my kitty Sobie. She was seen promptly and a few days later followed up by a vet to make a medication change from the original. They are very professional and I definitely recommend them.
Why do they have windows on the doors to exam rooms? No privacy for terrible moments.
My cat was not well and it was Sunday so we took her to WVRC. They were very professional, examined her, ran some simple low cost tests to rule out basic ailments then gave us a range of options for tests and medications for what they believed she may be suffering from. There was no high pressure to do lots of unnecessary diagnosis and they were OK with us choosing basic treatment and medication to see if that worked before any further higher cost options. Getting your pet treated on a Sunday isn't cheap, however if your pet is sick like our was and they would be in pain and discomfort with a high chance of getting worse without getting treatment then this is a good place to go and I would highly recommend them to friends and others.
They were amazing! When I got there they immediately came out and got my dog. The explained everything. Gave me twice a day updates on my dog as well as the cost/charges! Human Medical centers could learn a lot from WVRC!
I had to bring in a dog I was sitting for and knew very little about (adopted by her owners less than a month prior). From the second I walked in the door, to the moment I left, all of the staff were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The staff had to communicate both in person with me and on the phone with the owners who were out of state. Staff was endlessly patient, even though they had to explain nearly everything twice.
The visit lasted three hours due to all of the speed bumps. I'm certain it might have lasted much longer if not for the excellent care and service that was delivered. Considering all of the contributing factors, this visit could have been quite difficult, but it was the exact opposite.
Side note: I witnessed the staff handle a few very sad moments while I was in the waiting room. I was incredibly touched by how the staff handled each situation very seriously and with so much grace. It was apparent that the staff cared for the people as much as they cared for the pets.
Was taken by them. I knew that my dog needed surgery. Had a meeting with a specialist at the clinic saying that we needed surgery, then she told us that their MRI was down and that they couldn't do the surgery. They referred us to another clinic where that Dr also needed to do see him before surgery, so we had to pay again. If WVRC had known before we got there they they couldn't do the surgery, they should have told us instead of fleecing us for about $140 and delaying an urgent surgery. Fortunately, our dog is doing well and recovering, no thanks to WVRC.
This place is worth the drive. All options were available for my best friend, and talking about price was never an uncomfortable conversation. Results come back very quickly and they don t waist your time with long waits. My best friend was cared for with love and compassion. Great place!
Everyone from the front desk people to the experts and everyone in between were extremely helpful and gave us heartfelt understanding and assistance. Nikki could not have been given any better care. For top-notch care and life saving aid, WVRC is the place to take your pet. A big thank you to all at WVRC.
My mother-in-law took our 14 year old Boston Terrier here after he sneezed out a load of blood. They examined him and determined that he had a metastatic tumour and wanted to either euthanise him there and then, despite him being in no sign of distress, or have him stay for a couple of days in the expectation of passing at a cost of $4500. I get that this is an ER vet but to suggest nothing other than those two options, especially when we weren t all there to say goodbye to him (I am writing this as I am out of the country) is not great. He s now comfortable at home with his family.
Always professional and Kind people. They do fabulous work and take great care of pets ND their humans.
I brought my Sheltie in to have the cardiologist look at him, I was very pleasantly surprised they are much more than just an emergency vet . The cardiologist was very knowledgeable and very pleasent , she explained things in layman's terms that I could understand. I walked away very satisfied and the staff is amazing, they are truly there for you and your pet, very very clean environment and a nice waiting room to wait as your pet is being treated. I would highly recommend this facility.
professional staff and great service. thank you for taking care of Belli!
Absolutely fantastic. Its like you are at a hospital for humans!
I can not say enough good things about the entire staff here. I had to bring my cat in tonight to have him put to sleep. Everyone was kind, caring and so compasionate. They helped make a horrible experience bearable. They let us take all the time we needed and prepped our beloved Fluffy in a little coffin for us to take home for burial. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your compassion.
WVRC Waukesha is the Bestest of the Best Vet Doctors in the World! Their Vet Techs are 2nd to none, consider Everybody at WVRC like. Navy Seal! Way Beyond TOP Notch! Trust NO Other than, WVRC! All my Respect and luv to everyone at WVRC! Thor! *Jinx* and momma Fran!
I always prefer to take my pets to our regular veterinarian, but often the real emergencies happen outside of regular hours. That was the case for me and my very sick dog, Betty, just last week. I honestly believe she would have died if I hadn't brought her in. I think she ate something poisonous, although we were never able to pinpoint what it was. The doctors and nurses took such good care of her. She stayed for almost 24 hours. I feel like they informed and involved me. They were careful, yet didn't run excessive or unnecessary tests. It's very nice to know there is a good place to take my animals when everything else is closed. I'm extremely grateful to have my healthy dog back. Emergency care is always more expensive, but there was no alternative for me. I'd take her there again.
I had to bring my dog in, hoping he could be saved. However his condition only got worse, and so we had to make the decision to let him go. The ER doctor, Megan, was so sweet. She cried right with us. She also had a blanket set up outside so we could spend our last few moments outside versus a room. This was so nice because our dog was able to enjoy one last time being outside.
We knew we wanted to have him cremated but as an added nice option we could order a clay paw print. This was something I had wanted to get, but ran out of time.
Although it was awful to go through letting my best friend past, the support we received meant so much to us all. To have the staff care the way they did is truly priceless.
I never thought I could experience such a positive experience during a very emotional time. Before, during and even after the loss of our dog, the entire staff has been amazing and treated him like their very own. Their compassion and empathy has made this heart wrenching time a little easier. We will forever be thankful for your services.
Caring and compassionate service. I would highly recommend. I was shocked when the bill came because I assumed it would be higher (because they're 24 hours.)
This is where I go when my dog's regular Vet is closed or not available. Our third emergency visit in six years. Very competent, capable, and caring staff. Emergency rooms are no fun, but your pet is in great hands here. Everyone there cares, and it shows. Thank you again.
