Amazing AFB. If you know what you're doing or about the history of it, you can discover many things. In the picture, I was walking around the old barracks. Awesome historic place.
Got there early 0640 and was let in at 0740. Started signed in at 0744 and was out by 0835 (we were 3rd on list). They started at 0800. Very professional and started briefing all early in case folks needed something and didn't have to sit and find out later. Sanini (probably misspelled) very helpful.
This is the only RAPIDS ID card location near me to correct my child's name to get insurance coverage and they are closed indefinitely even though the rest of the city has opened back up. In the meantime I'm on the hook for thousands of dollars and I can't correct this. And this was the location that entered her name wrong in the first place and caused this mess!
No one answers phones there, then once you go there, not many want to really answer questions. WOW!
Got diverted here on a flight to Houston, worst plane ride ever.
Went up to this base to get a new ID card and they were only doing appointments. They had a sign on the door to call for appointments but no answer. Called again and one of the recruiters answered and said he don t do ID s as I was trying to get more information he hung up in my face. How you going to be a recruiter but can t even be professional. You should hold no type of rank and work a McDonald s with that type of work ethic.
Friends don't let friends join the Air Force. HOOAH!
I brought two of the kids for the Wings Over Houston Airshow and had an amazing time. The only issue I had, was there was no freaking reasonable place to change my sons diaper comfortably. I was so frustrated about this.
Great place for an air show! It s a bit of a chore to get in and out of, but overall such a cool place to visit.
The most amazing people ! People helping people during crisis and disaster.
VERY POOR service and organization. There is no number listed or online where one can get information or get through.
how can i make an appointment to ID for spouse when all i get is voicemail that is full then transfers to another number that no one answers.POOR SERVICE TO DISABLED VETERANS AND FAMILY
Stopped letting people signup to get an ID at 9:45, they don't close until 14:00. If they don't want the building to be over capacity, they just need to create a line outside like the DMV does. I don't understand why they stop letting people signup so early. I'm just salty because I spent 40 min. at the SS office and then got denied entry at the DEERS ID office when it's not even close to closing time. I recommend anyone who's trying to obtain a DEERS ID to arrive before opening so you are guaranteed entry.
The reviews had me scared but i thought they did a great job. Nice chairs to set in and tv to watch. Santini helped me get an id and was extremely helpful and quick. I was probably there 2 hours total but when is anything with the g.ment fast.
I arrived at 6:45 and there were 6 people ahead of me. We were let in about 7:30 and the staff began working then. Then we were informed the system was down and they would keep trying. I waited for about 30 minutes and decided I would have to come back but stopped to make sure I had proper documentation and Elaine (?) was very helpful and tried the system again and it worked! Yay! If you plan on going you have to go early. I was very apprehensive to make the trip after reading some of the previous reviews. But I found the staff, active duty and civilian, were very professional and informative of the issues they were having. It was a good experience for me.
When you call the female talks too fast and it takes 5 calls to copy what she is saying. Then the email address doesn't work.
Way to long of a wait !!! 4 hours for a CAC card!! Go somewhere else and don t waiste your time.
Not a single number I call is able to go through. What is going on?
They have a TERRIBLE system going on! Drove an hour got there 10 minutes before open to walk into a half full room of people not knowing the next few hours would turn into continuous movie playing and the USO representative offering snacks. Not to mention two people present but only one was barely able to get the job done. Let s just say she was working at the rate of a turtle running through some peanut butter. They called two people back in a matter of 3 hours.
Oh and the system was down yesterday..this place is a joke.
Phone almost always busy. If answered its a machine with a short message promising to call back - Call back never happens. Staff is hardworking and does their best - but they are understaffed. The result is service worse than a DMV (which actually those have gotten better). The policy and the process is the problem. Not the people. The people running this are stuck with managing a lousy system.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for having such a huge plane my son loves to get excited about seeing. Took some cool pictures
Poor customer service, this ID card place needs a serious leadership change.
Woefully understaffed with poor equipment. Day 1 system down all day. Day 2 got there at 9 am due to wreck on interstate -- too late -- full, not accepting anymore clients for the day. Suggest getting there when they open or before and be prepared to watch a lot of movies.
This place is very slow. So much so, the lead NCO (I think, he was out of uniform) was telling people by 10 to just come back tomorrow. As this NCO was out of uniform, he proceeded to lecture his soldier on rules and guidelines. Very amusing to say the least. Then he goes back to his office and plays candycrush with his girlfriend and little ankle biter dog. When he finally emerges from office, he SUMMONED this elderly USO female worker with a very smug hand motion, no words, no maam or please. Just a finger snap and come hear now gesture. 6 hour wait for a dependent ID card. I understand that you can only work as fast as the software allows but even the retired airforce colonel that was behind me mentioned that he used to run the same establishment elsewhere with far better efficiency. These guys need to audit their work performance. It's bad when you can say that Fort Hood has got you beat, just saying.... no ICE complaint cards either, I would hide them too if I worked there
I would rather get a kidney stone and go to the ER than come to this place. I would be seen faster. Today the room is full and it appears that there is 1 person working. Typical. The staff is very friendly when you finally get to them after watching a complete movie at best
Amazing place to receive a mentorship at. On top of that, the men and women here at the base are the best. I really enjoyed my time there!
Tried to get info on commissary case sell Sunday 8 Oct (8 -10:30 am). Called PSO & 147th. No one available to talk with.

Great service when you actually get to a service desk.
I d suggest getting there very early or be prepared for a long wait. We ended up waiting for almost 3 hrs. They do have an extensive movie selection however; we watched an entire Jackie Chan movie.
Very helpful USO people also.
Not sure why, but there are only 3 people to service the needs of pretty much all the vets in Houston I have been here for 3 hours and still waiting. Totally unacceptable. Something has to be done.
Professional service, but highly understaffed. Took about three hours to get my CAC. FYI, Tuesdays and Thursdays servicemen in uniform get priority from 1130-1230 (good thing). Just plan accordingly, service was cut off around 1330hrs today for additional walk ins due to the large volume of customers already waiting.
Great to visit when special event are in town. Worthy to visit
Crappiest welcome center! You ll wait 3-4 hrs for an ID card unless u have a hook up .
Plan on spending most the day here to get your ID card. Walk-in only. Unless you have a different choice, you will be taken care of in about 2-4 hours.
What's the deal with the jets flying low over clear lake neighborhoods. They sound like they are flying through my house!
Very long waiting time, I should come @5 am to finish early, plus they cancel an online appointment that scheduled months ahead.
Best ID card office staff I ve ever encountered throughout my military tenure!!!
When things are normal (no COVID) this place does.....OK however; since the COVID stuff, information has been MORE than lacking! Website says appts starting June 1 and gives a phone number. Phone number doesn't have a mailbox set up. Email given for other info; Email doesn't send/inaccurate email address. Talking to the actual DEERS folks after a 55 minute wait online is just about useless as well. Never call you back when you get dropped. Kids insurance has dropped off Tricare and there's no way to renew an ID. Something has to change........
I served at The USO at EFJRB and can say first hand that there are Unbelievably Good Hearted Men and Women who are full of Honor, Patience and Integrity out at Ellington Field. Thank you for your service.
