Very nice place, perfect location, very nice energy with a very cool and open staff, they speak a lot of languages so that everyone feels comfortable.
Impeccable cleanliness, comfortable bathrooms and bedrooms with spaces and lockers!
They have many services to offer (bicycle, surfboard, even surf class!).
Every dinner I ate at the quiet devil was very tasty. Very rich and complete breakfast (I like sweet) flexible hours (late check out)
I did not feel at any time outside the 'group', always with people, playing, playing music, not to mention the improvised movie night on a giant screen!
I was left with only one desire is to return whenever. I did not stop extending, and it was very difficult for me to leave the place and say goodbye to the beautiful people I met there.
Don't change anything please.

The BEST hostel I have ever stayed, I have traveled my quote but this place has something that makes it impossible to leave, feels like home, like a vacation from your vacation, clean and fun, if you travel to Punta del Diablo make sure you visit El Diablo!

Room are not ventilated and are hotter than anywhere else in the hostel so be prepared to sweat your arse off. They are kind (s) enough to charge you extra for a bed on Friday without telling you until you check out. And out of all the things the reception lady could have told me when I told her it's not OK to charge people what they didn't sign up for, she told me: "it's just 2 more dollars!" Are you kidding me??

I have to say from the beginning I did not know anything about the hostel before checking in. I mostly choose it because it was the only one open when I went there (mid November). And boy, was I lucky!
It is hands down one of the best hostel I have ever stayed in. As soon as you step in you are family. Such a great atmosphere with positive energy!
The location is great, few steps away from the beach, close to restaurants and the shop. Staff are very kind, friendly and very knowledgable about the area. The kitchen is a bit small, but is kept clean and it has a little terrace. What I loved even more is that as much as you feel like being part as a group, you can do your own stuff as well.

I want to write more and more, but point is: if you go to Punta del Diablo this hostel is the hostel to stay in!!!

This place was awesome for so many reasons, but mainly because two staff members in particular, Wesley Jampel and Matt Becker, were one of the most chill and down to earth guys I met there.

If you're staying in a cabana and are bored, swing by and chat up the staff and guests in their lounge/lobby. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly.

The hostel is amazing, super according to where it is. The staff is very good. At night they make a dinner and you pay as much as you think fair. The bathrooms are clean, the rooms are tmb, and very comfortable. The kitchen needs a reformin.

This place was great. We had a private room, the vibe was communal & chill, and the vegan food was delicious. Close to the beach and lots of hammock and communal areas throughout the hostel.

Cute hostel in a nice location. Tiny kitchen. Only problem was the number of the staff! Looked like the great majority of the people there were staff, so I felt a bit awkward and like I was intruding a bit!

The atmosphere, the staffs, the tourists, are all very kind and very nice. As for cleaning and security, the hostel leaves something to be desired. The bathrooms are shared and are not always clean, the kitchen is always stocked with lots of dishes to wash and the food is stored outdoors, which causes it to collect many flies. Regarding security, absolutely anyone can enter at any time of the day, including in the rooms. There is no kind of identification.

It was a hostel indicated by travelers, however, I found the price very expensive for what it offers. Staff attentive and helpful, always willing to help and solve any problem quickly (I had problem in payment and were very attentive in solving it, everything went well at the end). The breakfast leaves a lot to be desired!

Awesome hostel.

Awesome hostel.

Great staff! Very welcoming and friendly. Super helpful. Aweosme location. Close to beach and St. Teresa park.

The vibe is aweosme and not in the rooms.

Definitely would stay here again!

Nice place, near the beach. It has a choice of rooms with shared or private bathroom. The rooms facing the front have a balcony and a nice view of the sea. We had to go in July and lit the wood stoves perfectly, it has a shared room at the entrance to read or just be in front of the fire. Breakfast very homemade but rich and very good and friendly attention.

This hostel is in a very well location and the staff il lovely. Moreover it has very good prices for what they offer: amazing breakfast, speed wifi, super common area where to enjoy and meet new people. The top are the private room, with special ocean view.i felt in love with el diablo tranquilo hostel.

This place is wonderful: location, guest, room, services and lovely personnel. I recommend the breakfast on terrace. It has the typical hostel feeling but it's very professional: accepts credit card, foreigner value and they sell good beer and wines at cheap price. I guess there's no other like this in Punta del DIablo and probably in all Uruguay coast.

Lonely planet calls it the most seductive hostel in south America. It most definitely is NOT, not anymore anyway. There's too many staff (I was told 37), who are always around and it doesn't give a backpacker vibe whatsoever. You're probably better off booking one of the newer hostels, or better, go to Cabo Polonio instead

I stayed in both hostels and both loved it, the place has something unique, it's clean, with good energy, delicious and cheap dinners, they were all very kind and made me feel at home, my favorite hostel, thanks guys!

I am returning and stopping at hostels since santiago (a month of travel) and this was the worst hostel I have stayed in throughout the trip. Too many dirty rooms, moldy walls, lots of spiders and mosquitoes. At the front desk there was not enough room for a fly. The only thing I liked was the shower in the bathroom. Hot water and pressure. But I regretted staying two nights. I should have changed Hostel.

This hostel has pretty good reviews and right now there is one more.
Actually I planned to stay two days in Punta del Diablo and ended up nearly three weeks over there because it was just nice and beautiful, what a sweet cozy hostel in a sweet cozy small fishing-town!
Mark the manager and his great staff (miss you guys) run this place in a very friendly and harmonic way and they create a warm, welcoming atmosphere, they are really interested in their guests and very helpful, a nice family of vagabonds, good people! The hostel itself is a beautiful building with open spaces, an outdoor kitchen, a roofgarden and a big chimney inside, sitting in front of the fire and having deep nice conversations, thanks a lot for this, I enjoyed every day at your place! I meet a lot of interesting people there, like the hosts, so are the guests. If you are too lazy to cook in this sweet outdoor kitchen and you want safe money by not eating in a restaurant somewhere in town, then you can try almost every day Augustos kitchen in the hostel for a cheap fair price, and every cent is worth of it, this guy cooks brillant and serves a really really good barbeque!
Punta del Diablo is a magic place, the sky, the colours and the people, it's really worth to go there, not too far from Brazil, not too far from Argentina, and a magic place needs a magic place to stay, I found it in El Diablo Tranquilo. Of course, the hostel is in a very good condition, clean, cozy and so on and so on, but for me the most important thing are the people who work there, they made my stay so comfortable, this place feels like home far away from home and you people make it like this!
So, once again, thanks a lot of everything, Mark, Valeria, Augusto, Nina, Amy, Pipo, Pinocchio (forgot the name of the other dog, but not his face, hope he is getting better) and all the others I didn't mention.
