£100 EE cash deposit scam
Went to EE Crawley two years ago because we were still paying them for a phone that my wife owned outright already.
We did a deal which involved getting a new phone upgrade and switched our broadband to EE as well, on new contracts. Joshua, the sales rep, told us we had to pay a £100 cash deposit because their card machine was broken. He told us that this deposit would be put in an envelope in the safe with our name on it. No receipt was given for the cash deposit. When we went back to the store and asked for our deposit back, they had no record of it.
With some effort we went through the formal EE/BT complaints procedure. The outcome of this was that we could not have our money back, because there was no receipt. We are in our 60s and have been scammed by these guys. Shame on you Joshua, Senior Advisor, EE, Crawley. Do not be conned by these people.
