The fact that the first reviewer users the terminology 'patients' speaks volumes regarding the credibility of this particular individual. Eagle Springs does not look after patients, it provides vacations for some of the most unique, interesting and fantastic people I've ever met. Individuals who taught me a lot and individuals who (corny as it sounds) changed my life.
I arrived here in 2005 for no other reason than to have a summer away in the sunshine, but the camp and the directors are truly inspirational, since 2005 I've gained a qualification as a social worker and now specialise in autism. None of this would have happened without Eagle Springs.
It's hard work. It's damn hard work, at times it's physically and emotionally exhausting. But the advert states 'if you want an easy summer, don't apply'. Camp America advertise summer camps like a holiday brochure, full of magazines of happy faces white water rafting, so every camp has some disgruntled workers. Unfortunately, these people miss out because if you work at this place and roll your sleeves up you'll see something special which I can't even attempt to describe.
I spent 2 summers here and the memories are priceless. The setting is absolutely stunning and I made some amazing friends both workers and vacationers. The comment about creaming off the profits is nonsense, ALL profits and MORE clearly go back into the camp and I hope the directors won't mind my saying they seemed to live a fairly frugal and non - materialistic lifestyle.
If your thinking of sending a family member or a friend on holiday here, then do it. There is nowhere better. If your thinking of working here (and you're not a lazy-ass, spoilt brat, 'Daddy buy-me-a-pony', misguided little wanker like the original reviewer), also - do it!
