I purchased the Douze cargo bike12 months ago and LOVE it. Perfect for grocery shopping, taking the dog out and about when her legs are too tired and just a wonderful wind in the hair commute. Emmy and Jurgen were very helpful with all our questions. Recently went back to them and had an electric motor installed to allow for longer day trips. Can't be happier with the service and the product.
As the new distributors of Tern bikes Australia, they've really 'turned' the business around (pun intended). Both Jurgen and Emmy were a pleasure to deal with and I can't recommend them highly enough.
I emailed Emmy overnight with one of those annoying custom requests and the very next day was given a friendly and cordial reply with a warehouse photo of a build similar to what I was after. This allowed me to conceptualise what the trike could look outside of the stock image in the online catalogue. Professionalism, service, commitment - love it! Ik raad ze aan. We purchased an Urban Arrow Family from Dutch Cargo Bikes in December 2019. We visited the Moorabbin shop & spent a while trying out different bikes with our 2 kids in tow. Jurgen was really helpful & patient in answering all our questions & discussing our needs and likely usage of the bike. There was no pressure to buy or make a decision straight away, Jurgen seemed really invested in us making the best purchase for our family. Super helpful and friendly - was able to test ride about four different bikes: Douze, Workcycles FR8, Bakfiets and Bullitt.
Once we decided on a bike, Dutch Cargo Bikes had stock so we had the bike straight away. Some other companies don't keep stock and have to order the bikes and have them shipped from O/S so they take much longer to come, if they come at all.
Great after sales support too, Jurgen even came over to help assemble the bike.
Our Dutch Cargo Bike has transformed our life! The kids love it which makes getting out the door in the morning so much easier. Running errands is now a joy rather than a nightmare finding a park and getting kids in and out of their car seats. I was overwhelmed by all the cargo bike options but Emmy at Dutch Cargo Bikes really listened to what our family needed. We test rode the options in Brisbane at their test centre and promptly had a Bakfiets sent up. A year on I still feel like Emmy directed us towards the perfect bike for our family. I bought a Workcycles FR8 from Dutch Cargo Bikes in December 2014 - since the vast majority of Australian bicycle shops ignore utility cycling and focus on sport only.
Firstly Emmy was very helpful on the phone with information. I decided to buy the bicycle and she gave me many prompt updates on the arrival date (Shipped from Amsterdam). I received the bicycle in an enormous box (very exciting!) and I was riding it the next day. There was a minor issue with the seatpost clamp. Emmy went straight to the manufacturer who shipped out an upgraded part to fix the problem. The bicycle I bought is bulletproof it s going to last 50 years or more! There aren t many Workcycles in Brisbane yet (hopefully more will follow!) and I have offered for Emmy to send local customers my way for test rides on my bicycle if they want to try it!
Absolutely love our cargo bike! Wish we'd bought one sooner as it makes getting out and about with the kids & dog so much more fun and it's really changed the way we go about our errands. The service has been great and the team at Dutch Cargo Bike helped us choose the best option for our lifestyle - they really know their stuff and you can tell they are so passionate about these bikes! We used ours for an elderly family member too, which meant they weren't left behind when we were getting outdoors on family bike rides or even just popping out to the shops. We purchased our Douze Family Bike in April this year and it is truly wonderful. Our family had recently relocated to Torquay and even though I was unable to visit the bike before purchasing, I was overwhelmed with the way that Emmy answered all of my email questions so thoroughly and quickly. As we have sold our second car our Douze "Sully" is ridden every day at least twice a day. We average around 30 kms a day and I have found the shift from commuter bike to cargo bike really enjoyable. It is also amazing how many more conversations you have with people simply because they want to talk about the bike.
