Really fun trip. Riding along a ledge on the side of the mountain was scary but well worth the money

The railroad does a great job of putting on the Polar Express experience. Great for all ages to get you in the holiday spirit.

Fantastic museum, little but filled to the brim, and the train ride in the snow was amazing!

Now the first part of the route is done by bus due to a collapse of a section due to a flash flood, they are already fixing the problem. The journey is very long and you take about two and a half hours to do 50 miles, I recommend taking pictures in the morning and staying on the left side of the train because it offers the most striking views of the train and the route. can also use the catering car with snacks and drinks. A stop to do that brings back to 1800. The stay in silverton lasts 2 hours. Bring sunglasses, especially necessary for those who want to stick out to take shots off the carriage, they will avoid entering the unburnt residues in the eyes that if rubbed can damage the eye! Also recommended for fresh and clean :)

The Durango Silverton Train Museum is very cool. It is a little hard to find as it is located across the tracks on the back part of the lot of the train station in downtown Durango. It takes a good hour and half to really see it all and it extra cool for the kids. The best part of the museum is that it is FREE to go into. Make sure you take the time go see it, it is well worth it.

We can't thank you enough for an AMAZING and MAGICAL ride we took last night to the North Pole! All of you're staff was fantastic! Truly they went out of their way to be friendly and keep the kids happy and excited! Our Chocolate Chef in Vintage car 1 was awesome! We simply couldn't have asked for a better experience! Thank you so much for making our kids dreams come true!

Oh my gosh I am 45 and lived here since I was young and never did the train. Now I can say I have done it and I loved it. So beautiful the scenery.

Driving with a historical train through a breathtaking landscape to Silverton. It is a very nice expierence.

A really special experience!! So cool to go through the mountains and take a ride back in history. If possible, take the trip at different time of the year, eg, fall and winter. You won't regret it

It is a long ride, but worth the time. The scenery from Durango to Silverton is really nice. We got lots of pictures.

Great food. Get the Mac and cheese, even if you don't like blue cheese as in my case. It was amazing. Good beer too. We went there for my son's birthday and they brought him a brownie with ice cream on it. Cool place and friendly service

I'm not really into trains, but had a great time riding this line with friends. The views were spectacular! Try the bottomless souvenir cup of hot chocolate (refillable with a number of other drinks).

It was nice. Train Ride was a little long. But the scenery and view was gorgeous. Not really much to see in Silverton. A lot of places not open when we were there. We were told their was a train store there but never found it. My husband is the train fanatic. He enjoyed it more. Very friendly people though.

We booked the train from an outside source and the train company honored our tickets even with all the confusion and accommodated us. The train ride itself was beautiful and relaxing.

So good, so good, so good! From the first step into the depot to the very last exhibit in the museum this place is fantastic. We did the Polar Express (a yearly tradition) and the train was great, the performers are as excited as the kids and Santa is beautiful.

We had a great time on the train! Very glad we choose the closed car, as it was cold. Views of the mountains were spectacular and we saw white water rafters on the river!

This was the best place ever !! We rode the Polar Express train, and had the best time!! We loved the experience...with 2 small exceptions...one...the guy that was our entertainment in our train car..spilled thw hot chocolate all over my grandsons new pajamas, and did not even say sorry or help clean it up ..his partner (a girl) who was also entertaining us said sorry, and helped clean it up and got us some paper towels to clean my grandson up.., there was another incident but its too long.but overall we had a great time on the train!

Hop a train and head to Silverton or stick around and check out the great museum!

The roundhouse museum is a must see. The working trains are fantastic!

Nice little museum with train and military memorabilia on display. Gift shop and a few old trains for kids to climb on. Fun place to visit.

Interesting museum. More than trains. Amazing that it is open to the public (free). Well worth a visit.

Some of the staff had a poor attitude, and could use a lesson in customer service. Otherwise, interesting way to spend the day.

The train is well worth the cost of the ticket. Even if you do not like trains, the ride through the forest is breath taking. The concession are very reasonably price. I will be back

Took our daughter on the polar express, it was very fun. They enjoyed it a lot! Book early!

Great experience all around! Paid extra for the First Class Knight Sky car and think it was money well spent. All non-alcoholic drinks were free and they gave us a tote bag and souvenir cup. It's a very relaxing journey that takes several hours so be ready to sit back and enjoy it. Scenery was beautiful and our guide was very friendly. Highly recommend!! Also, check out the free museum, very cool!!

This museum is amazing if a little difficult to find.
Just follow the faded yellow arrows behind the train station and fifty yards beyond where you think
" this can' be right", there it is.
Well worth the search.

Small museum run by enthusiasts. A couple of old locomotives, a model railway, vintage cars and lots of period memorabilia.

This was my 2nd ride to Silverton Co via steam engine train. Our experience with Charlotte W in the Queen Palmer car was amazing. Loved her spirit and enthusiasm, can't wait to next year to see if she's is conductor. Go get'em Charlotte W. Forever your friend. CJ

Loved it, second time taking it, took a star away because of their rules which limit your being able to take a good photo

One of the oldest trains running in the us. Worth the ride.. the summer rides are great bring some snacks and maybe some food if you want. I bring lunch with me. Now the winter is great polar express is prefect on this train.I've tried trains all over the world. Def won't disappoint. Bring the whole family. Even the mother in law.

A little more attention to detail for the very expensive ticket is needed here. Concessions ran out of items and lav out of water right out of Silverton. Not ok..

So much to do and see in this area, a week is not enough time.

Polar Express is THE BEST! Worth the price to see the kid's expressions.

Go one way on the train and the other on the bus, excellent scenery and that will reduce the butt numb syndrome.

Amazing views, fun train, well worth the time. I took the open car, which was fun, but bring sunglasses to keep occasional Ash out of your eyes. Very bouncy train, but super fun and well worth a trip!

Had a great time, the views are awesome. It's nice to slow down and enjoy the beauty throughout the canyon. Definitely take a hat and sunglasses to keep the embers out of your hair and eyes, they aren't hot just dirty. It's definitely worth it, I would definitely go again. It was nice to ride back as well, since allot of people take the bus back there's more room and the employees are more relaxed and will talk with you more, definitely ask them questions. They know some interesting things about the area.

The train ride from Durango to Silverton was the highlight of the trip. The scenery is breathtaking as the train snakes through very rugged terrain. So many wonderful photo opportunities. Highly recommend as a fun experience for the whole family.

Very beautiful ride. Long trip one way though so don't recommend small children. Can bring own food and drinks.
