A great restaurant with amazing views!

A great restaurant with amazing views!
The staff are great and are always available to help with whatever you need. They make the experience a really pleasant one.
The food came relatively quickly after ordering and was really filling. Between two, having two small plates, two mains and a single side with the mains was more that enough.
For the starters we had the octopus and the potatoes. Both were delicious however I would have liked a little more octopus within that dish.
For the mains we had the pasta and the duck and waffle. The duck and waffle was a great choice, mixing the sweet and savory flavours together worked really well. The side we shared with this were the green beans and they tasted really nice especially with some of the maple syrup from the duck and waffle.
Will definitely be back again!

I hate to sound cliched, but at the very tippity top of my "Most Instagrammable Brunch" list is this fine establishment, Duck & Waffle - both literally, and figuratively. The ascent to the top of Heron Tower is an experience in itself - my husband described it perfectly when he said it was as if London "opened up" like a pop-up book.

The signature dish, duck and waffle, does not disappoint: I'm a fan of the mustard and syrup, which works well with the savory flavors of the duck (which was perfectly tender, by the way, and not too dry) and the soft, sweet pillow of waffle upon which it was served. As an American, I HAD to try the fried PBJ (that's peanut butter and jelly, to all you American food luddites), which also didn't disappoint. The spiced ox-cheek doughnut was a joy though: it tasted like a char siu bun mash-up with a sugared donut. Why didn't anyone think of this sooner??

New life goal? To make the most of its 24 hour promise ... the perfect way to handle jet lag.

Tip: although all the views are worth the visit, try for a window seat - particularly if you're dining as a couple. Memorable and awe-inspiring.

Came here to celebrate my engagement with my fiance.

We were really excited to come and have a special evening together. Let me just say that the service was the same service you d expect at a local pub.

We placed our order and never once got a check in asking how the food was or anything. With the bottle of champagne that we ordered, we never had someone refill our glasses and had to do it ourselves.

At the end of it all, nothing was different about this experience than your local restaurant that probably has as good quality of food.

Would I recommend coming here for a birthday, date night or engagement celebration? Absolutely not. Save your money and go somewhere else where you can expect the caliber of service you deserve from a restaurant like this one.

Stunning views, stunning food, amazing service. Couldn't fault it. The duck and waffle signature dish was 5 - loved it!! Everything we ordered was a taste explosion. Ate way too much but will be back.

I ordered the classic duck and waffle which is cooked well and delicious however the portion is far too small for the price point! You get to take an elevator way up to get a beautiful view of London! Recommend as a tourist for the view, food is also good.

30 minutes delay to get the table, menu and quality of the dishes were decent but nothing special, pricy for what it is! (Just one dish with duck, nothing more)

Very average, leaning towards bad. The waiters were kinda creepy, the food was either weird or awful, the view was rather dissapointing. The freshly baked bread was magnificent, however. Overall it was overpriced and overrated.

I went there for breakfast at 8 AM and the experience was absolutely magical. From the private elevator to the 360 degree view of London, it was a lot better than what I expected out of a high floor restaurant. The interior was lovely and clean, and the food was quite tasty and at a reasonable price for a London 40th floor restaurant. We tried both the sweet waffles served at breakfast and they were absolutely amazing! The duck and waffle dish however lacked the pizazz the other dishes did. Coffee was quite smooth and strong as well! But nothing beats the view of the sun rising over London!

It's a bit of a posh place - you'll need to be dressed well enough to get past the guardians of the ground floor - but with a relaxed atmosphere. Naturally, you've got to get the duck & waffle. Now I'd always try out a signature dish (it's the best of the menu, right?) but in this case I'd keep going back for it no matter what. I admit, I was sceptical when I first heard of this upscale version of the southern comfort food, but damn they do it well here. The duck confit is all tender juicy flesh with crispy skin and the waffle is perfectly cooked with a sharp crunchy crust with a fluffy interior that drinks in the accompanying maple syrup. The combination of sweet waffle and savoury duck is a brilliant mix that I'd go for every time. And there is something about waffles that draws your inner child out to play and conjures up fond memories of Eggo toaster waffles.

We also tried the crispy fried pig ears which are a great snack - something different for munching on while watching the game and I'm thinking I may make some for my next poker night. And while we're on alternative foods, I also had the dossant a couple of weeks ago when I ran the first cronut crawl.

However, I think they are missing a beat here as while the croissant was represented in full, there was barely any soft fluffy doughnut in evidence. Really, Mr Doughnut has to take a look and wonder if that really is his kid...

Granted, at this point we'd had more than our fair share of drinks but the bar is pretty hard to resist. I opted for a Sazerac which was perfectly balanced and deadly in potency. It's easy to drink, doesn't taste of booze (beyond the flavour of whiskey), and sweet enough to be moreish. A very dangerous yet delicious combination!

I heard mixed things about this place but wanted to check it out... I mean, having a duck on a waffle with maple syrup, it's too intriguing not to! I was very lucky to have gotten a booking a few days before the date of choice, because I heard you have to wait at least a month for a good table.
Unfortunately one of the lifts was broken, which was the only downside to the experience because being in that lift is pretty amazing. It's completely clear so the view takes your breath away. But this time it was really crowded so didn't get to appreciate the view as much as I could have otherwise.
You go to the 40th floor and the staff immediately takes care of you. There's a small bar before the restaurant space but we had a late dinner booking so we went straight to the table to order drinks, which were fabulous. The tables closest to the windows are obviously the best, but unfortunately we were seated close to the kitchen which was farthest away from the view. I didn't mind it though, I enjoyed staring at all the dishes come out.
The appetizers are stunning. The garlic bread is a must-have... I've never had garlic bread so deliciously original. Hands-down the best bread I had in my life actually. Soft cloves of garlic nested in the soft bread but wasn't overpowering. The octopus was also really nice with the roasted potatoes, and the doughnut was really interesting! I didn't enjoy the raw scallops though... each piece was way too small and was the most disappointing dish of the evening.
Of course, then comes the duck & waffle, and I absolutely loved it! The whole combination worked perfectly together. I poured all the maple syrup over the duck and egg and inhaled the dish. The portion could be bigger.
Overall, I can't wait to bring my siblings here, it will really impress them :)

The aura surrounding the place is not worth the commotion .... An amazing location (40th floor), only you could have enjoyed much more than the scenery if you had cleaned the windows a bit ....
Going up to the restaurant in a transparent elevator - an enjoyable experience.
The food is really mediocre.

We waited over 40 minutes for our pre-ordered table (!).
However, the service was excellent.
The wines were excellent too.
Summary: A totally expensive and unnecessary experience.
If you only come for a few nights to London, go to another restaurant (and there are many great ...)

Fantastic views across city and a short but interesting and tasty menu. Not great for vegans, and tables have a relatively short return time, so not one for a long lazy lunch or afternoon.

Went here on my birthday and absolutely loved it, the views alone are enough to make me want to go back but the food and drinks were equally as amazing. Really fantastic menu!!! Parents didn't appreciate the pumping house music they played though!!!

Super exaggerated! Open 24 hours, but book is a place to stay in full, fully booking.
But on the 40th floor, on the bar, drink a cup of coffee / drink a glass of wine, while enjoying the view of the liverpool, it was nice.

Initially impressed by the view and the setting, I quickly became disillusioned ... we had not booked so we had 1 hour for lunch

It's the service that really got me on. Is it pcq we weren't dressed or dressed like the usual customers? I don't know but our server was much more friendly with the table next door
I noticed that when customers ordered bread, the waiter or waitress cut it up. My bread arrives, he puts it down with so little delicacy that it and the knife almost fall! And he goes away without fixing anything and without cutting it up!

I do not recommend this restaurant!

Having previously been here for brunch, I was looking forward to visiting again but this time surprising my boyfriend.
I have to say I was a little disappointed. I booked 3 weeks in advance, but wasn't able to get a reservation for brunch or early evening, so I went with the midnight cocktails.
Maybe it was me being naive, (it was a Saturday evening after all) but I wasn't expecting the very loud club music to be playing...even through to the restaurant section, where we were still finding ourselves having to talk a little louder than normal.
Also, even though the booking had been made, we still had to wait 25minutes before getting our table and tbh the hostess wasn't the most helpful or apologetic. It took us to ask her (3times) as to whether our table was available. On the final ask it was, but we wonder had we not gone back to ask whether we would have been told or left waiting. She didn't apologise for the delay either, but merely shrugged her shoulders.
The cocktails and food were nice and the service from the waiting staff was also good. It was just the ambience and initial service that in our opinion were poor. Particularly as this was my boyfriend's first visit.

If you don't like heights, I'd suggest you don't take the glass elevator up to the 40th Floor. It would, however, be worth the blindfold, as the views from here are simply amazing. And the cocktails aren't half bad either, even if they are on the pricey side - especially for a Brummie ;-) Expect to fight for a seat though as it's rather popular.

Worse place to go if you're vegetarian/vegan. We arrived at 11pm and the menu was a set menu and was very limited. We did feel rushed to order as a group, the waiter constantly kept coming up and reminding us. We also felt like we were being watched as we were a young group (22-24) and we felt very intimidated. However, the wine and cocktails are very good and the view is exceptional.

Very good food. Very nice views. We didn t ask for a table with a view but when people around us did the staff was incredibly accommodating. Only complaint was our waiter seemed snobby and unwelcoming.

An exceptional view a magical moment above London, I advise you to go there at night to take more pleasure.
The service is a long time but we do not see the time pass.
Rates are at the height of the place.
Go there would have marveled

Located at the top of the Heron tower near Liverpool Street station even getting there is quite an experience with the lift that feels like you're being catapulted into space. Once there the view is spectacular and you might spend some time admiring it before remembering to have a look at the menu. The interior is modern and stylish with the open kitchen dominating the back of the room. Food is very good, simple but refined, with the scallops with apple, black truffle and lime being the highlight of my meal.

Love the Duck & Waffle in the Tower!! The lift going up to the restaurant is amazing! We caught it right at the perfect time with the sunset glowing up the sky!! We stopped by for couple of drinks and get good seat at the bar, once we asked if a spot was free near the window the waiter made sure we managed to get that spot which was really nice of him. Very attentive and suggested different cocktails! Sadly didn t have my liquor southern comfort! but still can t complain!!! I would advise don t wear shorts or ripped jeans!!

40th Floor and was expecting a more imposing entrance to the restaurant but it s tucked away round the back albeit views are impressive. Menu is limited, high quality food, creative if not truly memorable. Prices are plenty for what it is but nor are they outrageous. Overall I d recommend to satisfy your curiosity but I don t think you ll rush back. It s 24 hours and was told they do 1,000 covers a day

Duck & Waffle was a last minute decision on a Thursday night and we weren t quite prepared for the type of place it is! I saw that it was open 24hrs so I assumed it would be a bit casual and that we could walk in on a Thursday late evening. Well the bouncer at the door to the elevator helped us to realize that wasn t the case! He said we might be able to sit at the bar so we took the elevator on up to the 40th floor. What an amazing ride and view. When we first arrived it was a bit pretentious . The hostesses weren t very friendly and the bartender (at first) was a bit cool. They do serve limited food in the bar and it was amazing! We had the papapdam and hummus, the cheese plate and a blueberry waffle. All were amazing! Be prepared to wait for everything, it wasn t a quick experience, and it was also a bit hard to get check, pay, more drinks, etc. Despite those few issues it was an amazing experience and I can t wait to come back and try a different meal!

So I've been here several times and I've always enjoyed the food and great service. However I've decided to give this a 2 star review because of my most recent experience.
The servers were rude and perhaps even racist. They happily served every table around us, constantly keeping an eye on water levels and keen to take orders. However, when it came to my table, we were either flat out ignored or informed that they would 'return in a moment' only to never again return. At the end, when I told the server I did not want to pay service charge, he got super offended/defensive and rude. He even glared and pointed at me as I left and said something (likely not a compliment) to another member of staff.

It's in the high rise tower, the entrance is has staff in front. You take the lift to the 41st floor. The view is superb and don't forget to reserve a table if you intend to dine there.
We went there just for some coffee and snacks and I can tell the waiter was not expecting that. Still the service was good the prices were a bit on the high side.
Recommended for a nice dinner night.

I visited D&W yesterday and it was breathtaking. The glass elevator ride at the start was thrilling, the food was comforting and unpretentious, the staff were pleasant and not over-the-top, and the view of London was spectacular from such a height. The restaurant isn't very large which makes it feel quite cozy, and the glass windows keep the whole ambiance airy and fresh. I would definitely revisit and recommend - the only thing is, you have to book well in advance to get the timeslot you want (I booked 1.5 months in advance and only 2 timeslots were left for the day I wanted).

Amazing view and good food at the restaurant. The duck and waffle is definitely original! The service in the restaurant was amazing. However we were very disappointed by the cocktail bar. The serving was terrible and the cocktails were disgusting. They try to be original by putting for example truffle in their cocktails but I really didn't like it. However, and it was very nice of them, they didn't make us pay for the cocktails we had as we didn't like them.

Eaten here on a number of occasions now and always plesently surprised by how much I enjoy it even on repeat visits. Staff always creat a casual, comfortable environment. Prompt service and excellent food (it seems night-or-day though I've had more breakfasts than anything else. Views are of course terrific, and staff again are always as accomadating as possible with providing a good seat (and taking photos). Tudor and team provided another great return trip for breakfast this morning. With gratitude.

Attended for a family lunch at 14:15 on Boxing Day. The waiter was attentive...and that s where the positives ended. Two of our mains courses arrived over an hour after we had ordered it and more than 30min after our other food that we were planning to eat with it. I could have gone to the Thames and sourced a John Dory myself and grilled it with some spinach within that time. By the time it arrived we were no longer hungry and our other food was cold and spoilt. We enquired with the manager (a tall, slender man with a beard in a dark suit) about whether we would be charged for the above mains given the delayed arrival and the damaged meal. He stated obviously you will be charged . It was a very disappointing and somewhat disrespectful tone to take. In the end we were offered free dessert in a dismissive manner but we weren t hungry for dessert nor have the time. Sadly the experience had been tainted and we had to negotiate to have the mains fairly removed from the bill.
